Contractor was told what was expected prior to estimate given. Contractor was told what was expected on day of install. Due to miscommunication the tile was put down incorrectly. When customer saw work, the tile laid was overlooked. Customers fault for expressing gratitude for the job done. Customer did notice wood floor that was ruined, color stripped and emailed contractor in regards to that. Once customer realized the floor was not how was originally discussed, customer emailed contractor again. There was no response. Seven days later customer emailed contractor and asked for a return phone call. Contractor called. What followed was a 20+ minute conversation bantering back-and-forth in regards to miscommunication, what was expected, what can be done, and complete disrespect from the contractor. When customer brought up the floor being ruined and grout being splashed on a door, contractor immediately took the defence and said that Customer was lying, Even though contractor had already admitted to ruining the floor. Customer was told that They were rude and in my job as a police officer I must be disrespectful, cut everyone off in conversation, and always have to be the one talking. Customer said several times that the floor pattern had been discussed before an estimate was even given and that all that was wanted to be done now was - what can be done to fix it? Customer was appalled by the attitude of the contractor. I don't fully agree that the customer is always right but in this case contractor was so disrespectful, rude and unwilling to even discuss that perhaps he did something incorrectly, I would never tell anyone to use him. That statement is sad because he had done previous work and I was happy with it. And this current job, was done nice but just not done how the customer wanted. Customer will admit to using profanity at the end of the conversation but that was over customer saying I don't know how to do your job that's why I hired you which was in response to a ridiculous comment that he made prior. As a small business owner myself I would never act in this manner because small Business owners rely on prior business or referrals. This contractor is not getting my referral. The photos will show the tile stopping too short and not matching up with the border to the left as was discussed. The other pictures are the ruined floor and the stain from the grout on our white door. He said I was a liar but I think theses pictures will prove otherwise.

He charger is $400 to make the concrete on our pond look nice with wood over it. He slapped a few boards down and called it a day. Nail holes not filled, sides of the concrete exposed, he didn't even bother to make the corners look nice. When my husband told him it looked bad and that we expected the concrete to be boxed in and asked how much to finish the job he said he was t interested in doing any more work on it. My husband lost a day of worki and we flushed $ fixing the pond after. I would be happy to share pictures of shoddy work with anyone who would like to see.
Response from Rivard Builders
"There were two jobs in this bid based on a conversation with the home owners wife. One to make a false cabinet above the refrigerator, replace misc. trim boards in the kitchen and put boards/ bench seats on top of the pond walls. Combined price $575 for labor and materials. Project took nine hours . When we talked abut the project she never mentioned covering the sides of the pond. I emailed an estimate. In the estimate I described that I would remove loose mortar put new mortar where mortar was removed. In the estimate it says I would cover the top of the walls with 2x12 treated lumber. There is no mention in the estimate about covering the sides. This is exactly what I installed. They APPROVED the detailed estimate. When the false cabinet was installed in the kitchen and the boards were fastened, her husband started screaming at me and verbally attacking me.I tried to explain the bid, he said I was a liar and he wouldn't stop screaming long enough to review the bid. He called his wife, she phoned the Realtor who confirmed what was described in the estimate. Typically these things can be worked out, but his hostility made it impossible."

He did a great job on my garage door. The new piece of wood that he cut and fit in place of the rotten wood looks great.
The bathroom ceiling and wall that he repaired another time looks very good and you can't tell that there had been a leak.
He replaced the front porch railings at another time and did a good job also. He is punctual and knows his business and his charges are appropriate and fair.
