1. Alternator – buzzing sound coming from the alternator area.
2. Compliance bushings – one year ago, the Honda dealer said I needed new ones.
3. Wheel bearings – humming sound coming from wheels while traveling over 20 MPH.
This was my first visit to Waters Auto. About a year ago, a friend suggested I try Waters Auto, because he had positive experiences there. Also, I recently looked on Angie’s List, and saw good reviews from customers. I took my car there. Within 1.5 hours, the
assigned mechanic test drove the car, tested it in the shop, and double checked his finding with the other auto mechanics there. Then Glenn reported the following results to me:
1. Alternator – Okay. The problem is a worn tensioner. A new tensioner package is being ordered. Total cost estimated at $395.
2. Compliance bushings – Slightly cracked, but good for another 10-15K miles. No action now.
3. Wheel bearings – Noise caused by raised edges from tires. Type tires and incorrect air pressure are the likely cause. No
action needed.
I tend to be suspicious of auto repairs services/garages in general (lots of reports of unneeded repairs being done and other customer rip offs), but my visit to Waters Auto was reassuring. Owner Glenn is a very skilled, honest, clear, and decisive guy who maintains an open work environment. He and his mechanics are friendly and skilled. The waiting room works well, with about 8 chairs and a large 10X10 ft. or so window into the shop where you can see exactly what is being done.
The only hiccup was swift follow-up once my new tensioner package arrived at the shop. Glenn forgot to call me to set the install date and time, as agreed. I sense he gets pulled in many directions being a small business (didn’t notice any office staff other than Glenn). But he worked me in before leaving on my trip. On July 9, the install took three hours (one hour wait for an opening + two hours to install the new tensioner package). The shop was really busy. My Civic sounds and works great.
I’m a tough grader, but I give Water Auto high marks. They have earned my business. I’ll be returning.
Its very difficult to find a great, honest, and reliable owner who can master the ability to fix foreign vehicles. Mechanics who care about the customer needs instead of lining their pockets with money while the customer goes unsatisfied. However, I am well please to inform anyone who has a foreign vehicle to take it to Waters Auto Service @ 1009 Edgewood Road Unit B phone number is 410-610-0288. I am a single woman new to the area of Harford County. I was referred by a customer who continues to have his vehicle repaired at Waters Auto Service. The gentleman told me to go there and ask for Glenn whom stands by his reputations in fixing foreign vehicles.
I met the owner Glenn who was polite and took the quality time to ride in my vehicle to hear the problem. I was hearing after two other auto shops sold me a different line. One auto service did fix the problem wit out any charge because the problem was created by them. What became a simple mechanic easy fix made the engine come light on and misfiring. This easy fix started the engine not to perform and causing the XL - 7 to misfire. When I called my service man back he told me it was cost me 119.00 for a diagnosis test. I was not sure about using this services any more after spending over 270.00. I went to another auto shop paying a diagnosis test 102.00 with a total cost of 227.00 in change with new spark plugs. The engine light was gone, but after a driving one block. I could still hear the problem.
Earlier, last Saturday July, 5 while getting a haircut @ Anthony Barber Shop in Harford County. I asked, "Do anyone know a honest a reputable auto shop." Waters Auto Service is not only honest. This auto shop stands by its reputations in fixing foreign vehicles. The price to access the problem was 46.27. My trunk is my livelihood for work and to visit those who are sick and shut in. Mr. Glenn and his mechanics @ Waters Auto Service I appreciate your service to the Highest. ??????
