Called 5 times for emergency service for strong oil odor in my parents home. Took over 6 hours to respond to potentially dangerous leak in home. Asked servie provider to call me when they arrived at my parents home to discuss with me, they never did. I left my cell and home number and was assured by the dispatcher they would contact me as well as the service provider.....they never did. Service provider eventually came and indicated there was an oil leak in the system....never contacted me and left my senior citizen parent there at home with the potenitially hazardous condition without making me aware of it. My sibling had to go and get my parent so they would not spend the night at home avoiding asphyxiation.

Communication of overdue notice to shutdown after reaching a pre-set amount was never communicated! Our heating oil ran out on 3/10/2018 (outside temp 20degC). Called the service to make a delivery. First told that the account was frozen. hence no fill up was done. I had paid with a credit card (10 minutes prior to calling) and could email the verification. Was told to fill the gas tank or wait till next business day. Other issues: The technicians that do come to do the work are excellent, but the company does cancel an appointment without warning; makes it incumbent on you to call back to set another appointment. No initiative is taken but charges yearly service contract fees promptly. The service call reps and the account handlers offer no actual help but repeat policies.

They deliver oil whenever I need oil, I also have service contract, they came out twice a year, to service the oil furnaces. They also come out to service the heat pumps, one in the fall and one in the spring, I have no idea what days that occurs.

I still get oil and everything from Griffith. They still do the maintenance stuff. My A/C is part of my furnace and they still maintain all that for me. I call them and tell them I have got a problem and they are right here. As far as their people, I mean they have impeccable service. I have never had a problem with them. I can call them right now and I would have oil before 6 o-clock. I mean, they would send a truck right over here.

After waiting a week or two for an answer and attempting to escalate the issue, got a call back from someone who checked with management and was told that they would charge me $2200 to replace the unit and then later credit "whatever" they got back from Carrier (really?) Said the total cost to me after credit should be about $1500. Fed up, I called an A rated authorized dealer who came out and looked at the system, they picked up the coil from Carrier under the warranty and installed it within a week for under $550. I guess no big deal if you know what you're doing. They also identified why the emergency heat was coming on and took care of that (not refrigerant). This company used to be fine to deal with and I had blindly stayed with them for over 20 years, but I now have a new provider who appears to be a lot more capable for a lot less money.

Every aspect of working with Griffith went smoothly. They have provided my heating oil service for 5 years now with no issues whatsoever, so they were one of three companies I got quotes from when my A/C went out. I decided to go with a hybrid heat pump system that would use heating oil as emergency heat, and Griffith offered a good estimate (at least $3K lower than my highest estimate for a very high quality Trane system). Griffith also offers several flexible financing options. The installers were prompt and knowledgable, everything went smoothly, they were finished when they said they would be, there were no surprises, and they left everything clean. Best yet, my electrical bill has been lower all summer!

The first time they came and gave me a discounted cleaning and inspection which was fine but did not even look or treat the oil tank. within days of the inspection and cleaning the furnace started shaking and making loud noises until it finally just died one cold morning. I called Griffith Energy and they sent a tech out who fixed the problem (loose wires) caused by the first tech.and  he said no charge and even left me an invoice showing I owed zero $.  However, within a  couple weeks I received a bill for $100. I called the office and spoke to a nice lady who said I was correct that I didn't owe them anything and would be taken care of.  it wasn't. Month after month I would get a bill and each time I would call and each time they said they would take care of it.  I finally just started ignoring the bills, so they added late fees and then a threat to report me to the credit agency.  I called again, this time threanting all kinds of unholy terror to rain down on them if they didn't get this fixed.  I guess that worked becuase I finally stopped receiving bills from them but who knows for sure?
This fall I called them to get a price on the per/gallon of oil and two different people could not answer my question until they looked up my account.  W**?  After some insistence from me they finally put me in touch with Mike Murphy who quoted me .20 cents/gallon higher than the last company quoted me so I guess I see why they are so secretive.
Good bye Griffith Energy.

We paid a flat fee for that month. We were very unhappy with them. We just had a couple of gallons of oil left in the tank, and it took them 4 days to deliver more oil. We were supposed to be on automatic delivery, we didn't have to call them. They eventually came and filled the oil after we had called several times. We had run out of oil another time. I would tell them to do a better job at monitoring for their automatic customers.

We have been without heat or hot water for days, yet we are a long-time contract customer with Griffith Energy.  They "FORGOT" to provide us heating fuel for our home for over a month.  They originally sent a truck on or about FEB 24 to provide the heating fuel, but could not access the house because of the snow.  THEY NEVER RESCHEDULED A FUEL DELIVERY (which is their job!), yet the snow melted within 2 days of their first delivery attempt.  They never explained the lack of delivery or reached out to us to make things right.  Only when we called them every hour on the hour today to get someone to deliver heating fuel to our home was any action taken. At this writing, fuel was just delivered, but we STILL have no heat or hot water because a technician has yet to arrive to get the systems restarted--and it is late in the day.

Griffith Energy is disorganized, non-communicative with their customers (and with each other), unreliable, and does not appear to care about even their contract customers who are supposed to receive preferred service.  If this is "preferred service," why bother?!?!

We have had a heat pump contract for over 20 years for our home, and when we owned them, for our stores.  Most of the experience over that time was positive when they were Chesapeake Heating and Cooling, but once Griffith took over, the service has not been so good.  A couple of years ago, the tech came over to do our annual inspection shorted something out and we were without heal for several days while they waited for the parts to repair it.  Last Tuesday a tech came to our house to do our winter check up under our maintenance contract.  He said everything was fine, but we noticed the outside heat pump unit was not working.  We called Friday Morning and they said someone would be out that day to fix it.  When no one showed up by 5:00 we called again and the emergency operator answered and said she would have the duty technician call.  He called about 2 hours later and said he was really busy but would try to get there by 10:00 PM.  If not, he would be there early the next morning.  No one had shown up by 12:00 Saturday.  A customer service rep called shortly after noon and asked if anyone had come.  We answered no and she said someone would be right.  No-one showed up.  No one showed up again on Sunday.  On Monday Morning I went to their office and they had lots of excuses, but the bottom line is that I had payed them over $8,000.00 over the last 20 some years and all they have had to do was come out and inspect the system.  Now that i had a problem, they effectively ignored me.
Beware!  Particularly if there is a technician called "Big Ed" or "Eddie" involved.  Every time he has been involved, we have had problems.

We were so impressed by the professionals Griffith sent to our ancient row house, we bought a platinum service plan right away. The tradesmen they send really know and understand boilers, and they were happy to explain the workings of our heating system. They are punctual, polite, and a pleasure to deal with.

The installations go very smoothly. The techs know what they are doing, and they do a little extra. They can use some work in the front office, though, scheduling oil deliveries on time.

Griffith energy claimed they provided my landlord (a women in her 80's with a demented husband) with a 160 gallons of oil. Then, a day or two after oil use (in early fall), they told me--the tenant--that the tank was empty and billed me over a $900 dollars to fill the whole tank. They said the meter was broken--but they never charged or indicated they repaired it. Despite my calling them dozens of times and explaining how their employee scammed me, they have just kept billing me (after and quot;adjustingand quot; the bill a few hundred dollars and then began the process of sending me to collections. I finally spoke with a Jerry Wagonner who was extremely condescending and offensive. I've not written any review in over 10 years but this situation is ridiculous and people should know that something rotten is going on with their company.

During coldest days of winter, Griffith offered fastest delivery at best price in local market. Mike from the office was friendly and informative and the service backed him up. we also had a service technician come provide a tune up. He was prompt and worked efficiently. We have since 100% of business to Griffith.

Jeanie (Genie?) who we worked with on the phone the past two days was superb. She set it all up quickly and got us a good rate. She even dropped my first time fill rate to $3.399/gal as part of a military discount. Thanks!
B/c our tank is outside, we didn't even realize Griffith came buy and dropped off another 210+ gallons of fuel.
We'll definitely be sticking with Griffith for oil heat.
