This was one of the worst experiences with a contractor I've ever had repairing a rental property. We met, upon recommendation of real estate agent, at the rental property August 5th. This a single family home with 3 bedrooms. The house was left in deplorable condition. The carpet was ruined and stained by an uncontrolled cat. All the bedrooms, stairs, great room and dining room would need replacement carpet. The cost was to be $3100.00 including padding. He required a deposit of $1500. Lie #1: At the initial consult, we were told the carpet and padding would be out the next day so the floors could be bleached to eliminate the strong odors. This DID NOT happen. Lie #2: August 15th, I recieved a text stating "the carpet would be removed and the floors bleached tomorrow". This DID NOT happen. Lie #3: August 20th: I recieved a another text stating "got the old stuff out and floors bleached, so it's ready". This DID NOT happen!! I was actually at the house standing on the old padding when the text came in. It was obvious the plan was to carpet over the old padding, so I had it all torn out. Another text from my agent the next day stated he was to show up on the 21st and finish by the end of the week. This DID NOT happen. Finally on the 28th, I get a text requesting payment. A local agent did confirm the job was finally done. The contract was for $3100.00. Minus the deposit of $1500, the balance is $1600.00. Somehow his math comes up $1700.00 via text message. I own multiple properties between Annapolis and Dover, DE and would never use this guy again. I would not let him put used carpet in a duck blind!!
