See above. I took on more than I could handle trying to refinish and sand hardwood floors and banister, had to call an expert in to get the job done.

I met with the company owner, Roy Grant, for an estimate. In addition to providing an estimate to remove the carpet, sand and refinish the floors in one bedroom, hallway and stairs, he persuaded me to include a soft sanding and polyurethane of my banisters and posts for an additional $250. The contract also included staining the new spindles and replacing one short board of yellow pine, installing quarter round, as well as cleaning up thoroughly. I showed Roy Grant the quality of refinishing of my floors in other rooms in the house and he assured me that the work product of his company would be equal. However, nothing was done satisfactorily by Grant. The floors were left with a gritty finish because the workers failed to thoroughly clean up the dust. They simply vacuumed the floors before applying the polyurethane, leaving dust between the spindles in the hallway and staircase and on other parts of the floor. The used the cheapest grade of polyuerthane, and applied it unevenly, so the result looks quite unfinished. They replaced the one board with white pine instead of yellow pine, so it does not match. They did a very amateur job applying the stain to the spindles so that it is unevenly applied with long thick drip marks in places. Roy Grant demonstrated the soft sand on one part of the railing, but his staff did not sand to that extent, nor sand at all in most places, before spraying a cheap polyurethane on the banister and posts leaving it rough to the touch, uneven in color, and with a terrible appearance. Overall it is very shoddy work. The work product of Grant's company is far inferior to the quality of refinishing of the wood in the other rooms of the house -- the same wood.
When I called Roy Grant to complain about the results, he refused to come to inspect the problem. Instead, without even seeing what I was complaining about, he immediately began to tell me that what I needed was another coat of polyurethane and I would have to pay him for it. He said he would send the same person on his staff the next day who had done the poor work in the first place. Further, two coats of polyurethane had already been applied and Grant had originally assured me that that would be adequate. When I insisted that he come to see the results, he rudely replied that I should just keep the and quot;little $300and quot; I had held back and find someone else to fix the problems. I have called and sent an email. He has not replied.
I strongly recommend that anyone who wants a quality result in their home avoid Roy Grant and his company, R and G All American Floors.

Response from All American Floors Co
"Good Day [member name removed]. I was disheartened to learn of your experience with our company. Although a great deal of time has passed we would like to make this situation right with you as we are under new management. We would like to extend to you a complimentary wood floors buff shine treatment for your preexisting hardwood floors. We look forward to speaking you soon and establishing a mutually beneficial relationship. Thank you for your time and patience."
