CALCO FENCE

When I was looking to add a vinyl fence around my backyard and a railing around my covered patio, I met with four different companies, and CALCO gave me by far the best, most detailed and satisfactory quote of any of them. Glen worked with me to come up with a plan to level the backyard by creating a retaining wall that allowed them to keep my fence as level on top as possible. His team did a great job of protecting my lawn and cleaning up after themselves. Their workmanship was superb, and they were thorough and professional. Not only do my wife and I love the fence and railing, so do my neighbors. I would recommend CALCO to anyone.

I can remember when Calco was a good fence company, but apparently not anymore. These jokers took 2 wheelbarrow's worth of, mostly clay soil, and spread it around our small property. The gate on the fence stopped closing after about 2 months and I had to adjust the hardware. Many of the pickets are warped because of cheap materials. All the fencing is held with nails, and a fallen limb from our tree shattered one length of fencing. Surely there must be better fence companies. Oh, almost forget, they built the fence right down to the ground so it is impossible to trim the grass under the fence. Can't wait for it to rot and replace it.

Calco Fence had installed my wood picket fence 18 years ago. They did a great job then (quality, cleaned up, etc.). Recently, after 18 years of wear and weather, several posts' bases had rotted where they needed replacing as several sections were leaning badly to point where I was concerned about it falling over. Called Calco Fence about repair. They asked if I could take pictures and send them over so they could 'see' what the issue is as well as the type of pickets of my fence to help determine what I have. IMHO, great that a contractor actually uses modern technology to help their business AND the customer. Calco sent over Jeff A to look at the fence and he gave an estimate for the repair plus estimated schedule, that unfortunately was a few weeks out as they were really swamped with it being Spring (time when people want fences installed or repaired). I asked if I could be put on a waiting list if something opened up sooner, could they fit me in as I was concerned about the fence falling over and there are neighborhood kids/others that could be hurt or at least inconvenienced by having a 6-7 foot fence in their way (my house borders the neighborhood play area and a walking path). A few days later, I get a call from Calco Fence that they found a way to fit me in possibly and asked if it would be ok with me? Of course it would be ok! The field crew (Dave, I think was the lead guy) had scheduled to come out on a Friday after finishing some other jobs nearby. By Friday evening, no one showed up. However, at ~730pm Fri night, Dave calls and apologizes that their previous job ran into complications that took them all day and asked if it would be ok to come on Saturday to do the work? He said they had another job with ours that did not get done on Friday due to the complication of their 1st job on Friday. On Saturday, Dave & crew didn't show, but on Saturday night, he came by, looking very tired and beat, apologizing as the other job that they were catching up on, also ran into complications and promised to get to us 9am Monday morning. On Monday morning, 9am, Dave and his colleague show up promptly and repaired my fence. The quality of the work is great. You can find other fence contractors or contractors of any kind in general, but how many would follow up and explain what/why? Too many contractors today would just blow you off and not give you the simple courtesy of letting you know what happened and what's going on. Definitely recommend Calco Fence.

Amazingly well. After a few conversations with Gene Summerlin, the design was perfect. In fact, I think they feature our fence on their website. Neighbors complement us all the time!

The three repairmen arrived on time, were very professional, and did an excellent job. I have recommended CALCO to neighbors and will continue to so.

Great job & price. They were polite, responsive, and the work looks excellent.

Overall the company did a great job, once the job started they were done in two days. I had a few concerns which the company did address and resolved quickly. The only annoyance was the long wait to get the plans to submit to the HOA. It took 4 weeks to get. Then I had to wait for the HOA approval which was another three weeks. I think they should have been quicker getting me the cad drawings. Overall I am very happy with my new deck. We are going to add stairs to our deck and a screened room in the future and I will use them again.

The designer understood our vision immediately and showed us many options. Ultimately we just couldn't afford the work he would have done and we will try to use them for our next project.

They were not really able to give us much advice in terms of style and design. They did the fence very well. The price was average.

After standing out in the rain with them (March 26) twenty minutes explaining what I wanted the gentleman (Mike) said he would have an estimate to me by the next Tuesday (March 30) at the latest. Well it's April 6 and I have heard from them!!! If I owned Calco I would really be upset to know that my employee's, that I pay to do a job, were letting business fly out the window. I would also be out of business!

Since Calco had installed the fence originally about 7 years before and had done a great job, it was logical to call them again. Bryan, one of the company's estimators, took my call, and we set up an appointment for him to come soon thereafter. He was prompt, polite, and very knowledgeable. He carefully explained what the job would entail. When he noticed that one of the post caps was missing from the fence on the other side of the house, he included 4 new post caps at no charge so that the effect would be uniform when viewing the front of the house. I wished to have the job done by the end of the following week, and he was able to accommodate me. The installer, Augustin, was absolutely fantastic. He was very detail-oriented and made sure that I was happy with every aspect of the installation. He even dug a trench in my border where the fence needed to go so that the mulch would not rest against the fence. I was very impressed by his positive attitude and the high quality of his work. Although this was a relatively small job, I was treated throughout as if my business really mattered to Calco. I was extremely pleased with the results.

I have had a mixed experience with Calco Fence. I have had to call them back out several times. The gate on my fence keeps dropping down and dragging. They have told me that I have to keep the metal sign on the fence in order for the warranty to be valid. I think that it is crazy for me to have to advertise for them when I already have a contract with them and I have not been entirely pleased with their service. They did a very good job with the installation, however I have not been satisfied with the follow up service. They had the cheapest price for the project out of the three quotes that I received.

This was by far the best price quote we received for the work completed. They completed the work more quickly then originally proposed. When I was prepared to pay the final bill, I made a comment about how I will rate the superb response well on Angie's list - they told me about a savings coupon - even though I had no idea about it. I was impressed with that gesture. We are happy with the final product and the quick response to a last minute change request.

Calco provided the most thorough and helpful estimate, identifying key considerations and recommended solutions up front that other companies failed to consider. The estimator, Bryan, was very pleasant and helpful, and the price was extremely competitive. The company completed the installation earlier than I anticipated, and I did not need to take off work to be there at the time of installation.

The pleasant experience of a positive interaction and product installation was not limited to the installers. Due to a change on our part from brick posts to the aluminum posts, a difficulty arose as to acquiring the necessary additional aluminum posts. This entailed phone calls and a trip to the eastern shore by Ron Benson, the general sales manager to acquire the necessary posts. He also extended us the courtesy of providing temporary fencing provisions to enclose the yard because of our pets.

I had an old stockade fence, which had collapsed. Calco removed the old fence, even trimmed our bushes and installed the new fence in less than one day. They were very professional, punctual and accommodating. They also had a better price than their competitor. The fence looks great. I would definitely use them again.

Calco responded quickly, provided a competitive estimate and began earlier than scheduled. Installation did not go well. I called Calco 3 times during the job to ask that they check it, as the fence was not being installed properly - they thanked me and assured me they would do so. On completion, the fence varied in height, portions of it were not sturdy, the wire was poorly installed and cut in many places so that a child or pet could hurt themselves, nails and other materials were left all over the ground. I took photos and then insisted on meeting with a representative from Calco. They met with me within a few days, apologized for the poor quality of work and sent "their best" crew who removed and reset many (@ 15% to 20%) of the posts, reinstalled the rails and replaced all of the dipped wire and 2 gates. The job was ultimately done adequately, but only after much discussion. I am still finding debris from the job (nails, cut wire, old fence they were to have removed, etc.).

I have to give credit where credit is due. These guys worked all day in 100 plus degree heat. They were very helpful with obtaining the proper permits needed for the job. They had the lowest bid of all the companies we had called. They were very polite and professional in spite of the heat. They had also made an excellent suggestion on installing a larger gate that would be beneficial if moving large furniture in the contained area. We had to have them back because of a latch that was damaged in a storm and they came the next day at no charge.

They got in touch, after rescheduling a couple of times due to weather they went and looked at the property. Called me back to discuss options and promised a bid and estimates but never sent it. They were very pleasant on the phone but I never heard from them again (one month ago).

My initial inquiry was via email and I got a call right away from a rep on the next business day. The price was reasonable. The installers came two weeks earlier than was expected. The fence looks great and was installed quickly. The price was competitive. The only possible gripe is that the installers did not completely clean up after themselves, leaving a few wood scraps behind.

It was an excellent experience. Ron, the estimator, made sure the fence was installed before the forecasted snow storm. He even sent two crews to get the job done. I am very pleased with the new fence and the excellent service I received. I would recommend this company.

THE WORKERS WERE PROMPTED AND CLEANED UP VERY WELL AFTER EACH DAYS WORK. THE FENCE WAS STRAIGHT AND STURDY. THE WORK WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND SATISFACTORY.
