Radius Group

We signed a contract with Radius Group on 2/9/12; permits were obtained approximately 3/4/12. for a new master bedroom with a bathroom and a laundry room with a bathroom We were originally told that it would take about 1 month, weather permitting. That hardly seemed possible, so we were not surprised when it was changed to 2 monhs, still very good. We chose this company because they appeared to be very professional and because everything was to be done in house, no subcontactors. They had their own plumbers, electricians etc. They did not start the job until April, at which time we paid them $8,000 per the contract when work started. Our first problem was with the plumber; he could not find the sewer line. That took a few days, but no problem, they worked it out. Our next problem was the cement foundation. It was the worst job I've ever seen. It was not level and anybody could see that it was horrible job. There were holes in the cement. We were told not to worry that it would be corrected with leveling cement, which of course did not work. We have unlevel floors, which made the walls not level to the floor. They never worked a full week during the entire process. Mainly we had one guy, the carpenter, who was there throughout. He spent most of his time correcting mistakes. Per the contract, we paid another $8,000 after the cement was poured. This is a company that took our money and ran. They never had the money to do on our house. We got promise after promise, which went unfullfilled. At one point hey presented us with a bill for additional charges for "extra" work that they did, although the contract stated that there would be no extra charges without written approval from us. When we refused to pay, they insinuated that they would not continue. We finally agreed to pay a portion in hope that we would get the work done. By this time it was June 2012 and we were given a guarantee that it would be completed by July 18th. It did not happen. They did not have the money to buy the mini split HVAC and we ended up purchasing that ourselves. There is just so much that I could say, my tile flooring was ruined; the tile in my foyer was ruined when they tore it up doing the plumbing. They were supposed to put it back like they found it but could not match the tile. We puchased new tile at our expense; they did a lousy job if installing that; it's now popping up all over the place. My yard is a mess. The job was completed on October 1, 2012, but not to our satisfaction. Run, do not walk, from this company!!
