In our phone conversation, I maintained that since their work had caused the problem, I should not have to pay the full price for the repairs. They maintained that it was an honest mistake and that they were not informed that the onboard tank was not to be used. I maintained that if there were a question, they should have called me before switching the intake, particularly since the intake valve was both set on the external setting and not located where it was easily switched. Accordingly, it should have been apparent it had been left that way for a reason. They refused to do the repair at either no cost or at a reduced cost. The discussion went on for 15 or 20 minutes, and they finally agreed to not charge me for the pressure washing of the hull, an unrelated and fairly minor job. I believe that they should have been much more up front in accepting at least some responsibility for fixing a problem which they caused in the first place.
