About us

Sweet Property Services owner is Ken Sweet who has been in construction since 1980 and is a Maryland licensed contractor MHIC # 22670. You can usually tell how long someone has been in the trade by the license number. Ken is also a licensed Maryland Home Inspector MDHI # 30767 since 2001 and is a Certified Property Inspector thru International Association of Home Inspectors that requires 24 CE hours yearly additional continuing yearly education thru them, this is beyond Maryland state 2 year 30 hour CE requirements . Has passed all the advanced inspection courses for electrical, plumbing, roofing and structural framing. Ken has passed the North Carolina Home Inspector exam which is one of the most stringent exams in the US. Where Maryland only requires 72 hours of class for a license, North Carolina requires 120 hours and 80 hours of field experience. Ken is also a retired Fire Fighter from Montgomery County County, 1978 to 2000 , stationed in Bethesda and Cabin John Maryland.

Ken was great at explaining and showing me everything he was indicating needed repaired in his report. He even took the time to explain to me how to repair them myself without hiring a contractor. My realtor even commented how great he was and he felt he didn't find things just for the sake of making me feel like I got something for my money. Ken also was the best value out of all the home inspectors I quoted. I highly recommend his services!

I have a large framed picture that weighs over 20 pounds. Mr. Sweet came to my home. He measured the picture and then measured the space above the fireplace mantel. On the back of the picture are two D-rings about 1/3 from the top of the picture. He strung heavy steal cable between the D-rings. He then determined the optimal location to hang the picture with two secured picture hooks. He made sure the picture is hanging straight and level. I am very happy to have this reminder of our Trip to Norway hanging over our fireplace.

The Contractor evaluated what needed to be done and explained what he would do to correct the problem. The materials required and fee quoted were reasonable and on point. The Contractor was very professional, and I would highly recommend his services.

Ken Sweet is highly experienced. In this field, experience does matters a lot when choosing a home inspector. Within a few hours, he was able to identify serious structural defects overlooked by the Site Manager in a new community. Spend some hundreds now and save yourself thousands/repairs down the line. A word is enough for the wise.
