They've always been reliable and good. I would call them again to do more work in the future. They've done work in a few different properties.

They are a very good company. Did a great job. We received references from others who also said they were good. We were very happy.

Perfect job. Brilliantly executed. On time. On budget. I received four bids for the job. On Top's was not the lowest but only On Top was able to answer all of my questions. Dan Fox knows is a great person to work with. I had a many questions. He took the time to answer them all. We spoke several times before the job because I wanted to change the color of the shingles and discuss how best to vent the roof. He took the time to answer every question and addressed all of my concerns. His crew was extraordinarily professional.

The owner of this company provided me with a proposal for the replacement of my gutters. He was extremely professional and his price was very competitive. I hired them to do the work. His son is their Office Manager and I was very glad that my contact with him was minimal. He did not return emails or phone calls. I was sent a contract for a roof replacement. After several calls, I was able to reach the owner to get everything straightened out. The Office Manager need a good course in Customer Service!

They had to return twice because the repair did not fix the leak.

I have used them 3 times for the last 20 years. They were good.

I called several roof repair businesses to get help to repair missing shingles and inspect my roof.  Some businesses had a three to four week timeline to fit in a short repair job.  Some businesses had a $450 minimum.
I heard about Dan from a friend.  Dan seems like a friendly, down-to-earth, honest small business professional.  He was able to fit my small roof repair into his schedule in a short period of time.
In a few years, when my roof needs replacement, I plan to call him first.  I am very satisfied.

The price was reasonable and they were professional. They came out and did the job in a reasonable time period and arrived on time. We were not at home because all of the worked that needed to be done on the outside of the home. When my husband and I got home we looked at the job and it did not look quite right. So we took pictures and sent them over via email. The owner, Dan called us and said he agreed with us and would be out to fix it. 
Here is where the overall C rating comes from. After several weeks passed and no one came out, I called the office and learned the Dan was out of the state or country, I really don't remember which. To make a long story short it took over four months before it was fixed.
When it was fix it, it was done correctly and we have not had a problem since. My husband said Dan was very pleasant and honest and he would definitely use them again and that is why they have an A rating for everything else.  
Final note: I am a little uncomfortable with the C rating on my overall experience because everything turned out well and we enjoyed working with Dan. However I have had so many bad experiences with finding service companies on my own that I joined Angie's List hoping  to avoid dealing with less than honest companies again.  So in an effort to be as helpful as I can to other members I feel obliged.

They were reasonable and I went along with them.   He was personable and I liked the fact that I had other people come out to give me a quote but he came out and actually got on top of the roof and something was missing and he just replaced something around it so it was temporary fix but he didn’t have to do that.  He was fair.

He did an excellent job and two of my neighboors changed their roofs with him. We also got got a life time warranty on the roof and on the labor. His guys were excellent and very professional and they pocked up all the nails with magnets.

This past November [2012], we had an issue with squirrels entering our attic through a roof vent fan.  We had two such fans on the roof, one of which was not working and we made the decision to have both fans removed and the holes repaired.  After a trapping service made certain that there were no animals and/or nests in the attic, we had On Top Improvements come to remove the fans and seal the roof.  They were prompt in coming, completed the work quickly, removed the old fans and any debris.  They matched the shingles and you cannot really see where the fans had been. We would certainly call upon them again if needed.  Since we have only used their roofing services, we cannot really comment n  any of the other types of work that they might do.Overall, both jobs were completed to our satisfaction and we would use the company again in the future.

They did a very good job. We found a hole in our copper gutter and Dan came back and sealed it for us about three months after. We paid a very small fee for him to come back and do that for us.

Work was performed the day it was scheduled, Roof still looks like new! No nails found in the yard nor any scraps of material.

There was a bit of a communication mis-step once I had chosen this company for the job.  Once we were able to touch base it went pretty smooth.  Originally we had discussed that upon an internal review of my attic, that a few pieces of plywood would need to be replaced.  When the work had been completed, I checked and the wood had not been replaced.  I contacted the company and the owner came out with the person who had performed the job and both took another look.  He then communicated with me that upon removing the shingles and inspecting from the outside of the house, that the plywood had not shown any need for replacement.  I appreciated the honesty of this as they could have replaced it anyway and charged me for it and I never would have known. 
Paying the contractor was very easy; a deposit upfront and then final payment once the job was finished.

It looks good, but we had two complaints. While they were putting in the siding, one nail punctured out air conditioner and burned up the compressor. They would have known about that because it made a loud noise. We found the problem when we had the air conditioning technician come out because we noticed our system was not working. We had to buy a new air conditioner because the compressor burned out. The company has made arrangements to recooperate their loss. We weren't told about that. They should have told us. We are being reimbursed. We had to do an inspection and noticed many problems. There were several problems that On Top did not finish. On the rear of the house there was a gap of 1 to 3 inches. The top level of the front siding was not level and had to be adjusted. One side of the siding that framed the porch was not vertical but noticably curved. It was difficult to get in touch with them. We would leave messages and would not hear back from them for several days.

I talked to Dan, the owner, and he responded right away. I really liked that the estimate that he gave was the price that was actually charged. He did whatever he promised. He had said that he would come within a week and his crew came within that week. They were very responsive.

My experience with On Top was exemplary in every way. They were prompt to respond to my request for an estimate, their proposal was the most clear-cut and professionally-presented of the four I got (all from highly-rated companies), and it was the second-lowest in cost. They delivered all of the materials one day, and early the next day a crew of six or so showed up and completed the entire job -- stripping the old roof, laying the felt, and putting down the new roof -- by the end of the day. It was quite a show: they worked so quickly and efficiently, with remarkable assurance and teamwork -- it was like rooftop ballet. They cleaned up before they left, and the next day a couple of men came out to do a fine-tooth cleaning and haul away the dumpster. They left not a scrap of trash. Then, to top it all off, a couple of days later, one of the managers came out to inspect the job and the cleanup, and he went up on the roof and painted all of the stacks and vent covers in a color that matched the shingles. Six years later, the roof looks and performs like new. I still remember this as probably the most satisfying home-improvement project I have ever done.

Excellent experience -- we chose top-rated shingles and added the ice damming protection and still got a very good price. The work was done on time, finished on time, and cleanup was thorough.

A good experience. They were very good except they couldn't get a special fascia board that I wanted. I was able to find it myself but not in the roofers time frame. I don't give the roofer discredit for this however. They were very prompt in scheduling and did the job very well in 1 day and given the job they were handed they were very efficient. The house was originally built in 1940 and in addition to the special fascia boards, I wanted specific ridge and e-vents added to the roof as well. They were very cooperative with this request also. Price included 80 sq feet of roof decking, special vents, and labor and materials.
