The whole project started out badly as when they delivered the roofing material, it was so badly positioned on our roof that it was about to fall off (and hurt people). We had to call them back to get them to come out to correct this. Then they "forgot" that we were having a roof exhaust fan installed so they had to go back in and re-install it after the roof was done - and plug the other vent holes they put in the roof. Also, when they did install this vent fan, they installed it in the wrong position on the roof - it looks like a mushroom on our roof instead of being positioned just a little lower so that you can't see it from the front (per the instructions). They also removed most of the eaves vent insulation boards (the plastic pieces that hold down the attic insulation so that the eaves can act as vents - as they were meant to). They then knocked out a vent cover for the bathroom exhaust vent - first they asked me to climb up on the ladder to measure it - and I did this, but then they asked me to do it a second time a week later because they forgot the measurements. And then finally, they forgot the trim and flashing materials around the sides so that the roof leaked - our biggest problem and one that cost hundreds of dollars to fix.
When they came out for the estimate we explained that we would like to have the shingles fixed, the leakes fixed and the chimneys needed to be sealed. When they were looking at the roof to give the estimate they mentioned how the roof was in great condition.
They first expected payment before they started any work, and when they completed the work everything that was leaking before the work was leaking after the work.
When I called them all they had were excuses about how things weren't included and I needed a new roof. So basically they came out and replaced some shingles but left me with a roof that they claim needs replaced. They did come out 3 different times to look at the work they had done as part of their one year warranty, but they were just using caulk to try and plug nail holes. The owner came out the last time they were here and he was mainly concerned with getting me to stop trying to get the problem fixed and give them more money to put a new roof on.
Why would I want to pay to have part of a roof fixed and then have to get it replace again?
"The Customer called our company in November, 2011 with some concerns regarding his roof leaking and a tree limb that damaged the roof's edge. Our Service Department came out and repaired the leaks and the tree limb damage. The Customer called again regarding leaking and we explained that we warranty a repair for the exact same leak, not a new leak in a different area. Mr. Colehouse came out and examined the roof and found that whoever installed the roof originally did not use the correct nail pattern which caused leaks in several locations. We sent the Customer a letter offering to make an appointment during our regular business hours to address his concerns; however he did not call."
