1. KrisMar chipped/scratched a brand new paint job in several areas of the house. This was after KrisMar had specifically advised us to have the painting done prior to floor installation. We had to pay to have the painters return and repair. 2. KrisMar installers left the house a mess. We have had a number of home improvement jobs done over the years, and never have had a contractor not clean up after themselves at the end of each work day. 3. Several corners on baseboard were improperly mitered. KrisMar DID repair these satisfactorily. 4. A large area of wood flooring in our kitchen was improperly installed, and squeaks/gives each time it is stepped upon. KrisMar DID NOT fix this, and argued against the need to do so. We have had another contractor assess this problem, and it will require that section to be removed and reinstalled, at a cost of several hundred dollars. 5. A plumber had to be called in to reinstall our washing machine, because KrisMar was unable to properly re-install it, after having previously moved it. KrisMar initially wanted us to pay for this fee, but removed it ?make us happy.? 6. After complaining about the overall quality of work, and the tone of their business communications, KrisMar unilaterally informed us that they were cancelling the remainder of the job they had contracted to perform (installation of carpeting), and deducting a $200 ?restocking fee? from the deposit we had already paid for the carpet. This would appear to be a fairly transparent attempt to recover the $180 plumber fee. Moreover, as KrisMar cancelled the job, business ethics would seem to indicate that they absorb any associated fees. In short, we are very dissatisfied with the quality, service, attitude, and business practices of KrisMar Carpets. Among all of the contractors whom we have employed over the years, none have reacted the way KrisMar did when simply asked to perform agreed-upon work to a minimum standard of quality. The email string below demonstrates the aforementioned problems with business communications from KrisMar. After these exchanges, Mark Edwards of KrisMar left a voicemail informing my wife that she had better ?change her tone,? and that he was ?doing us a favor? by addressing our concerns. Shortly after that, he informed us that he was cancelling the remainder of the job, and has not responded to emails notifying KrisMar of the installation or other service deficiencies. Description of Work: We contracted KrisMar Carpets to install new wood and carpet flooring in our home. We had done business with them in the past, and experienced no issues with the quality of their work and service. This recent experience was much different. As problems with the quality of their work (wood floor installation) became apparent, and were pointed out to them, the owner (s) of KrisMar became increasingly inappropriate in their communications, and in the end refused to finish the job they contracted to do, or to repair significant problems in the quality of their work.
