The quality of the work was good on everything except the two through pillows which appeared to have been hastily done. He didn’t charge for the pillows but I lost the cost of the fabric, because I discarded the pillows and bought new pillows. Scheduling pickup and delivery was easy, the men were professional and friendly and communication with the office was excellent.

I am so pleased with Cover-Uph....I brought in my stools, three at a time, and within one day they were ready. I luckily got them in between big jobs. I had already purchased the fabric so this saved time. They did a perfect job of covering the round seats on each stool - they look brand new. It was so simple and easy to get the work done professionally and at a very reasonable cost..and everyone was very pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend them.

I ordered the material from his store and Tom did an excellent job. He even made recommendations to lower the price based on the foam insert. Tom is very personable to work with. I highly recommend him and would use his services again.

56From our first contact to the delivery of the last chair, we have been extremely pleased with all facets of their work. The pick up and delivery went smoothly and we are delighted with the results. We have contacted them about finishing another group of chairs in the near future. The chairs look like new and the padding is better than ever. Thank you to Tom for his professional and personable work. We will recommend them and use them for all of our re-upholstering in the future.

Outstanding! The chair in question happened to be made in the 1950's by Gunlocke. Tom Vaughn, the proprietor, spied that on the label and in addition to the excellent service, I got a run down on the history of the company, the quality of the workmanship (then and now) and exactly how he was going to do the job. He gave me a break on some leather he had left over from another job (instead of buying a whole hide or having to go to a fabric covering) and took the time to fasten the leather using tacks, just like the original (restoration instead of refurbishment). Mr Vaughn is true professional, and delivers a great experience along with a great product.

The foam in the seat cushion of my wife's favorite glider just wasn't comfortable any more. They showed me the difference in quality of the original 4and quot; thick foam and the 4and quot; foam they use. BIG difference. He also replaced at not additional cost the low quality zipper that broke during the process. This was a small job, but from the experience and the other projects in their shop, I would be very comfortable using them again for larger projects.

He was great. The hardest thing was finding where his shop was. I would definitely recommend him; he did a good job.

It was a difficult job because of the protrusion of the window sill and the narrowness of the actual seat. Tom did an excellent job making cushions that ended up being very comfortable. And the finished job looked wonderful!

They did a really good job. I think that Tom, tells you a lot about what he is doing and explains your options and how everything works. That mattered to me, because he helps you understand what he is doing. His prices are good.

The shop is small and there is a high-level of self-service. When I first arrived (during limited Saturday hours), Tom showed me the fabric samples and explained the wear codes. I found several swatches and signed out the sample books for a week. Once I had a candidate, Tom came to the house to estimate the cost (this required an extra charge). (Please note that many people merely photogragh their piece for this estimate, thus eliminating the additional fee.)
I selected the vendor on 3/31, knowing full well (via other Angie's List reviews) that it would take some time to get to me. Tom and his assistant picked up the sofa on 6/25. He left the bed portion at my house. While this saved weight and he didn't need it for the job, it still surprised me. The timing worked well as I was on vacation for two of the four weeks that the sofa was gone. Tom delivered the completed piece on 7/30 (he'd actually completed it a bit earlier but we had delivery scheduling difficulties).
Update 10/14: Initially, I was satisfied with this job. Now that 2.5 months have passed, I realize that leaving the and quot;bed unitand quot; behind had an impact. The cushions are not the correct size (too narrow and too short). When I sit on the unit, the they slide back and gap several inches. While I've tried to deal with this by stuffing pillows and blankets behind them, it hasn't worked all that well. The problem may have been caused by two decisions:
-- Tom uninstalled the bed portion of the sofa before taking it to his shop, perhaps making it difficult to judge the required height of the cushions.
-- Also, he didn't take the old cushions and never measured them in my presence.
Although the sofa looks better than before, for the amount I paid, I shouldn't be having these problems. I adjusted some of the above ratings accordingly.

We've dealt with him for almost ten years. It's a wonder to have these guys in business. He put a beautiful leather seat on it, so its handmade furniture with this recycled leather bed that was picked out. As soon as my husband makes five more we will go back to make the seats for the rest of them, so it's a long term relationship. Before this he did some upholstery for us eight or nine years ago when we bought a beautiful American handmade wooden chair. We took the cushions to him and he custom fitted the leather over the cloth that was there. The one we did several years ago was purely labor and the job was perfect because we were very particular as it was an expensive piece of furniture. The price was very reasonable and we are very happy with it. He use to do car seats and things like that before and now he does furniture. We like to see him hang around for a lot longer. He's got couple of people working in his shop and they do handwork.

From the start Tom was very helpful and informative. He gave us a primer on upholstery and explained in detail the abrasion rating of the thousands of fabrics available. He invited us to take the sample books home with us to insure that we would see the fabrics in the proper light and make the correct choice. Tom explained the process and materials that would be used for our project and made sure that all of our questions were answered. We dropped the seats off on the agreed upon date and Tom promised delivery prior to Thanksgiving. We received a call on the Friday previous to Thanksgiving and picked them up the next day (Open on Saturdays a bonus!). The finished product look better than the originals and we couldn't be more pleased with them. We highly recommend The Cover-Uph!

in late march i contacted the store by phone. was encouraged to come in and view samples. i was allowed to take several books home to help me choose the correct fabric(which is very nice). the staff are not very involved in this process, you are pretty much on your own. when i chose a fabric(a week later), they were helpful in determining how much fabric to buy. they never saw the piece. we determined yardage by drawing and measurements. they do accept credit cards and do not charge the card until work is done. i was then placed on a list. they estimated 2-3 month wait to get started. i called at 2 months, was told it would be another month. i called again at 3 months. again, told it would be another month or so. at months five i was finally called. they were ready. i delivered my chair to them within 3days. it only took 2.5 weeks to do the job. was called and we set up a delivery date. that happened within a week. i was never told why such an extended period of time to get to my order. once they got started it took only a couple of weeks. the quality is good. i really like the fabric i chose. unfortunately, i could have purchased a whole new loveseat for what it cost to redo this one. i had originally thought i could have decreased the cost by providing my own fabric, but they charge a very large cutting fee per yard to use outside fabric. i was credited for the 2 extra yards of fabric that was ordered but not used. that was nice. the whole interaction was fine except for the very long wait and the minimal communication.

Tom got the job done much more quickly than I expected and he had projected. He wanted us to have the cushions for the summer. When I called, he immediately got back to me and was a delight to work with from start to finish.
