It started with bang and finished with an agonizing whimper.The project planning startedand the materials were selected in the late Fall of 2010 with an actual start date of January 3,2011. We were told this 11'x14' project would probably take no more than four weeks since we had ordered supplies with ample delivery time and reserved uninterupted time on the contractor's schedule.
The project started on time. Good progress was made until the first set of cabinets arrived and they discovered the House of Burgess mis-measured for the cabinets. This resulted in a re-order of cabinets, and a delay in ordering the counter top. Once installed, the poor quality of the Bertch cabinets became evident. Thus began the circus between the designer ( House of Burgess), the distributor (Bradco) and the manufacturer ( Bertch) and we were held in limbo for months waiting for them to agree on resolution and to deliver the product we paid for. The final cabinet door was installed on June 29, 2011. Six months after the start !
The House of Burgess' billing system is confusing because no two invoices have looked the same and we had difficulty keeping track of costs vs. payment by her method of accounting and invoicing. We still don't know what part of the final bill is unpaid, if any.
