Certified Electrical Technologies

I was referred to Certified Electrical Technologies by American Home Shield. AHS called me and left a message indicating that an electrician had been contacted to perform my service. When I contacted Certified Electric I was informed that the "one" person who performed service for AHS customers was out of the office, nobody else in the company could schedule service, and this person would call back at 10 am. I returned the phone call at 10 am, and this one person was still not available. I left another message. 4 days later I am still out of service, this company has still not yet called me back as promised. Furthermore, the staff supervisor was rude and condescending when I requested that I be scheduled by someone other than the "AHS scheduler". It seems to me that I should not be shuttled back and force due to some unknown administrative system that they have, and after waiting 2 days I felt that they could schedule me without their low level customer guy on the phone. They appear to relegate AHS customers to a poor quality service response. If they indeed ever perform the work I will leave another note with regards to the quality of their technicians.

For over a year service people had been disagreeing over whether it was an electrical problem or a washing machine problem that caused the circuit breaker to throw every time the washer ran. Finally, this service person isolated the problem thoroughly and definitively. Even though he couldn't fix it at the time, this diagnosis was worth the money and I was able to have it fixed once and for all shortly thereafter.

My house is old and I wanted their opinion on my options to update the system. He was very knowledgeable, and I plan on having this company come out later in the fall to move some of my appliances to dedicated circuts. He was on time and called before he arrived and the sent a postcard to remind me of my appointment. Very good customer service.

In 2009 I had a major kitchen remodel completed during which included some electrical work. Fast forward to 2012. I removed a section of ceiling drywall due to a small water leak. By chance this section was where the kitchen contractor had done electrical work. I was distressed to find the insulation removed from one of the romex cables and, upon closer examination, found the the cable was bare wire after being nicked by the saw of the previous contractor. Luck being with me, a coupon dropped into my email from Angies List from Certified Electrical Technologies, and I was able to painlessly arrange for the correction of the wiring issue. I did have to wait a few weeks for the appoinment though this is common when everyone wants an A-lister. The tech called thirty minutes before and then showed up precisely on time and was done in a bit more than an hour. I will definitely include them in future projects.

It was great! Phil was our technician and was super helpful and very nice. He was able to perform the work we needed without any problems. He also went out of his way to make life easier for us, which I was impressed by and thankful for. We even got a thank you note in the mail with a coupon for our next appointment with them!

It went very well. It was a tricky job because we have an older house. The cost went a little bit over the coupon value but he worked very hard. He was personable and a pleasure to have when going over the older house issues. It is a job I would not have felt comfortable doing myself. I would absolutely recommend them to others.

Phil Merlino arrived right on time. He surveyed all the areas needing a fix and then started right into working. One electrical problem we expected would be expensive turned out to have an easy and low cost solution. Clearly, Phil wasn't trying to take advantage of our ignorance about electrical ampage needs. He cleaned-up the mess before leaving - took NO phone calls while working and wrote the bill out legibly! We will continue to use Certified Electrical Technologies for all our electrical service needs!

When I called to make an appointment with the company, we dicussed request (project) and time & materials needed. The tech arrived and we dicussed projects, time and additional cost if needed. He placed a tarp ( in the small hallway) assessed needs and began. I was somewhat puzzled because he made several trips to his truck to get and retrive??.. more than 3x times. He made and recieved several cellphone calls during the project. When ready to begin next project, the istallation of an outlet in the kitchen (near frig ) out no can do. I tried to suggest outher possible areas in the kitchen, no can do. He rolled up the tarp, said his 2 hours was over. All excess materials (dust &ceiling) not on the tarp remained. I took pictures of the area, because no clean up was done. Oops!

The technician inadvertently disconnected existing switch. Returned the next day and reconnected the switch. The technician was timely and worked efficiently and cleaned up waste material. I would use the company again

Between a series of family health crises and the winter holidays, we did not contact the electrical company and they did not call us. When we were planning for other work on the house in early spring, my husband decided to call them, even though the deadline to use the Deal had passed. They were very agreeable and offered to honor the purchased Deal anyway. They sent out a man within a week! We were very glad to have our kitchen overhead light restored and to have an outlet available in the basement. That the old wiring methods made it difficult to upgrade and repair our electricity in the rest of the house was a great disappointment, but the electrician explained the situation very completely and professionally.

They did a great job. He was a very nice guy. He came in and did the work. I was very pleased.

Experience was very good and I would contract with them again.

Good customer service in setting up the appointment. Rep called ahead to alert us of his arrival. Dave was very professional and answered our questions and accomplished all his work in a timely manner.

Electrician came on expected date, found good place for outlet, and did the work with no complication or mess.

Eric arrived promptly, listened and understood the work I needed, and was very professional. The work was completed in half the time I had estimated.

I told them that a month was way too long and that I might need to get my money back for my coupon.

It could not have been easier. I set up an appointment with a very polite receptionist and was able to get an appointment right away. They gave me a window of time and he was here sooner than I had thought. Phil diagnosed the problem within minutes and repaired my outlets in short order. I could not have asked for better service! I am so happy I used Angie's list in finding someone I could trust to do a good job!

I called to inquire about an estimate and was told a technician would call me back and help me, which he promptly did. He quote a very reasonable price for the work I was having done. We scheduled the service a couple of days out and he showed up promptly, did an excellent job and finished in the amount of time he estimated. A few days after the service they sent us a thank you letter and a $20 coupon to be used towards our next service. I really enjoyed working with this company and will continue to do so.

The arrivalprompt, the service was was efficient and Eric, the electrician, was courteous and experienced.

We asked Gary Epstein for an estimate. He called back very promptly, and asked for photographs of the job we wanted done and the circuit breaker. He spoke with my wife, and as she didn't know what the circuit breaker was, she just sent photographs of the job required. He sent an email reply asking for the picture of the circuit breaker. I then called him and spoke with him, and mentioned that I didn't think the circuit breaker was connected to the job involved. He lost his temper and said that he "would not be able to help us". He was extremely rude, and I would recommend not getting in touch with him, unless you like to be spoken to in a rude condescending manner.

The guy was efficient and explained everything. He seemed very competent and honest. I liked him and the company and how they dealt with me. It was easy to get appointments. They were very customer oriented and responsive towards my needs.

Danny arrived promptly and was very polite and efficient. This was my first Angie's Big Deal so I was uncertain how time efficient the company would be since I had prepaid. However I had a list of electrical issues for him to fix or look at and I was amazed at how quickly Danny worked through the list and performed the jobs. He removed the old and installed the new bedroom ceiling fan in the amount of time it would have taken us to unload the box. (I had bought the fan ahead of time). He checked the ceiling fans in the other rooms and diagnosed any other problems we've had with those. The bathroom fan was broken, so he diaganosed the problem and replaced the motor (the motor was $20 which I thought was reasonable). A smoke detector was reinstalled, kitchen dimmer switch was fixed and he repaired a electrical connection in the basement that had been damaged from lightning. Finally he gave me advice the electric work when we finish the basement in the future. I was very pleased with his work. Everything was done quickly with no mess left behind. It's been over half a year, and everything he fixed is still in good working order. I would definitely hire this company again-even without a Big Deal coupon

I am pleased to indicate that I will be using this contractor again in the fall to install more outdoor lighting fixtures. Thanks to Angie's List, I now where to turn to for electrical issues. Previously, I had dealt unsuccessfully with HVAC personnel for such issues. - - A pleased customer
