The company does a great job at a very reasonable price. It was the first company with whom I have ever dealt, that actually charged less than their original estimate! They seem to be in demand due to their workmanship and fair pricing, so they were unable to start my project for several months. Once they started the project, however, it was done quickly and they cleaned up after themselves every day. Thom is very easy to work with and Karen keeps one well informed as to start dates, delays, etc.

The kitchen turned out very well and the carpentry work and trim gives it a very custom appearance. They were a bit late on the delivery date, due to some issues with coordination of contractors, but they were a pleasure to deal with and I felt very comfortable with their workers in the house while I was at work. They also made a great effort to leave their work area clean each day.

We initially engaged Paul Keyser, the Highland Rep, in late November to address some smaller projects as a screening process for some upcoming, larger jobs. The projects were to install a custom access doorway into our crawl space ($455), add insulation to the crawl space ($350) and replace 4 basement windows ($1,475). The insulation and windows jobs were quoted in their entirety up front and I found those quotes reasonable. The doorway was based on a time and materials quote. A worker (who is no longer with them) showed up that morning, framed in the space and installed a door (approx. 3 feet square). I felt that the price for this particular job was high since it cost almost $500 for a door that looks roughed in and the closing mechanism doesn't quite line up. In the course of 4 1/2 hours, the worker took multiple smoke breaks and chatted on his cell phone. I didn't feel he was being very considerate of the fact that he was and quot;on the clock.and quot; Based on this experience, I would be reluctant to do any more time and materials jobs. The other jobs made up for this first experience. It took 2 months for them to get the windows ordered and finally arrive to install them, but the team that was here was professional, consulted with me whenever we hit a snag and the finished job looked great. They didn't paint the trim, which was on the original quote, but Paul knew this before he came to me with the final invoice and had removed the charge before I brought it up. For the crawl space insulation, they had a subcontractor come in who knocked it out in no time, however, they did not put up sheeting to secure the insulation in place (which was part of the quote). I had to mention this to Paul and the sub-contractor promptly returned to take care of the sheeting. Highland is now in the process of putting together a much larger quote for us, but it's been a month. Paul touches base to let me know they're still working on it, but I'm concerned about their responsiveness once we decide to go with it. In reality, I have 3 big jobs to do and am not sure which I want to do first. It may take till summer just to get them all quoted. So, as much as I like Highland, they're not a slam-dunk, so I am opening up the bidding on these large jobs to other contractors to see if I get better service.

Highland Renovations was very good. I checked them out on Angie's list and they had A's across the board but people said they were a bit expensive. I'm getting more work from the other company I chose for a better price. They were top notch though, they gave me addresses where I could look at similar types of rooms that they'd built. They communicated well with me, they came out a couple of times, they emailed back and forth, kept in contact. Very good communication. They admitted that they were more expensive, but that they do top notch work.

They are extremely polite and neat. They are always on schedule. They do everything that I want them to do.

Highland 100% stands behind their work. A screw fell out of my sliding glass door and Thom came out immediately to replace. AAA+
