Joseph Marini Asphalt Paving

DO NOT HIRE!!! Absolutely horrendous job!! The absolute worst company that I have ever dealt with in my 30 years of military service (US Army). We hired this company in the summer 2021 to put a round-about in and to put a sealant on our current driveway. The initial discussion with Joe was pleasant. Poor Results: The roundabout was not round, it was not leveled nor was it edged properly. Rocks were sprayed into the ground and cracks were not repaired. Instead the job looked patched together with lumps and more seams. Huge eye soar. I contacted the company the very next day and spoke with Melissa (Office Manager) to report the poor job. She said Joe would get back to me. I finally spoke with JJoeweeks later who said he had come out and saw the issues and would have someone come out to make the corrections. More weeks went by and I began calling again. Finally, someone called but asked if I could wait until his wife got out of the hospital before doing the work. I waited three more weeks before calling back. Needless to say, I have not seen him or anyone else. I believed Melissa was screening my calls so today, (20 Dec) I called from a different number and Melissa immediately answered. When she realized it was me she began giving numerous excuses. I told her I wanted a partial refund for the services because of the extremely poor job. She when I asked why she didn't call, she yelled and asked if I was going to listen to her then she called me a Dumb A_s B____h then hanging up on me!! From the other reviews this is apparently what she does when a customer is not satisfied. I called back but she ignored my call. I then called from another phone and she immediately picked up. I attempted to ask to speak with Joe, but when she recognized my voice, she hung up again. She will no longer answer any calls from any of the numbers that I have tried to call from. I have a three year warranty on the round-about and a one year warranty on the sealant. From Melissa's actions it appears that they don’t plan to honor their warranties. IDon't want them back on my propertyonly wanted a partial refund (50%) of the cost. I am pretty sure that won't happen. The company is a rip off. We have had to hire a second company to do the job correctly.

Everything was fine at first. Aprox a month later four feet long cracks in the center of the driveway was cracked. I called him and it took four to five months for him to come out to see the issue. Then they removed that section of the driveway plus more towards the street. They sawed the driveway in half. Removed bad part and replaced with more asphalt. They did not level the new asphalt out and the driveway was higher on one side. Several months went bye, I noticed more cracks aprox 20 feet up the driveway that was three to four feet long also. I have called him at least twenty times and his daughter promised that he was going to come out to resolve issue and even talked to his son regarding this issue with no call back or appointment with no resolution.

I started the search for someone to fix my cracked and worn driveway last October. After getting 6 estimates that ranged from 2000.00 to 16000.00, I chose Mr. Marini at a price less than half of the high bid. For a variety of reasons, he was unable to schedule my job until this April, 6 months later. But once we agreed on a date for the work, they arrived early on the first day and were done by mid afternoon on the following day. Despite waiting for 6 months to have the work done, it was worth the wait. The crew was knowledgeable, skilled and efficient. Since they do a lot of commercial work, they had the equipment to do the job right and in a timely manner. The old concrete was broken up and hauled away in 3 hours. They milled the old driveway and double checked to make sure that the foundation for the new driveway was sound and even checked the foundation of the garage floor to see if they needed to do anything to shore that up or repair it before putting the asphalt down. This is not your average asphalt or concrete paving firm. These guys have contracts for government facilities. I have no reservations in recommending them, but you have to be patient and flexible on when the job gets done. I got a lot for the money and the quality of the work is outstanding.

It went very well! Everything was explained fully, and everything was done according to the initial explanation. The correspondence was good before, during, and after. Very easy to reach and get in contact with. Follow-up visits were useful. The work was done a year ago, and I'm still very happy with the results. Very straightforward to deal with. Everything went as promised. I would highly recommend.

We have an area that puddles every time it rains. Marini people have come out two times and said they would correct it. They would not give me a date of when they would do the repair and they never have come out since. I have called them a number of times and left my number to call back and never received a call back.
We sent a certified letter to the owner of the company and it came back to us unopened after several attempts to deliver it. It looks like Marini does not stand behind their work. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

He is off the charts wonderful. He did a phenomenal job. He really did over and beyond what I was expecting. We had four different companies come out for quotes and he was very comparable to the other companies as far as price went. I wouldn't say he had the best price, but he was professional and had the best references. You could tell when you talked to him that he knew what he was talking about. Other companies hired a crew and he came out personally with his son. We were blown away how nice it turned out. He talked to us. We watched him and he never made us feel like we needed to get out of his way. He explained to us what he was doing and why he was doing it. I would absolutely use him again.

We would really recommend them. They were just wonderful. We liked everything about them. My husband is in construction work. We were terribly impressed with the man that drove the equipment to pick up the old driveway and put it in the truck. He just operated that piece of equipment with such efficiency. He did the job without destroying the yard. They did nothing wrong, and we can only say good things about everything they did. My husband is extremely picky and very demanding for perfection, and he was so pleased with that. We would recommend them to anyone.

Joe is definitely 'hands-on' he was at the site almost the whole time. Great friendly professional staff.
Did the job as expected. Would recommend him to all.

They were very nice. Everything was excellent; from the estimate to their coming out. They had to remove a lot of old asphalt from my backyard and they laid down my driveway. Everything was really good. They did an excellent job. The pricing was fair. They were very accomodating. They were on schedule.

I was not able to be on site when the estimator arrived but he understood exactly what had to be done and his estimate of the square footage came out to within a few feet of my measurement. It is a very irregular area. I accepted the contract and 4 days later they arrived on time, did an excellent job and gave me a larger entrance apron with the left over material. Since the early 90's I have used Joseph Marini several times for rental houses and my own residence and I cannot come up with anything negative.

They did a terrible job and I had to go to the Maryland Home Improvement Commission before they finally completed the job. They refused delivery of registered letters as well. When they came back to repair the work, they sent a better on sight manager and they did a better job. I was not satisfied with their service.

WONDERFUL JOB AND AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE. COMPANY IS SCHEDULED MONTHS OUT, BUT THEY COME WHEN IT'S YOUR ALLOTTED TIME AND THEY DO THE WORK WITHIN THE TIME FRAME PROMISED. THE PAVING JOB IS GREAT AND HOLDS UP TOO. I RECENTLY HAD THEM CUT AND INSTALL A 2ND DRIVEWAY TO THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE SINCE THE FIRST ONE THEY DID IS YEARS OLD AND STILL LOOKS GOOD.

OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY WAS EXCELLENT. THEY WERE EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL. THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME EACH AND EVERY DAY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO OTHERS.

THEY WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND GAVE A LOT OF INFORMATION ON HOW TO KEEP UP THE DRIVEWAY. WE HAVE HAD THE DRIVEWAY FOR THREE YEARS AND NO PROBLEMS. IT DRAINS GREAT AND WE HAVE NO CRACKS.
