In about an hour, Master Electrician Paul Shirbach anchored our sagging service wire to the brick, after the power company would not touch it. The line is now securely fastened and we are relieved. After a storm, the service wire from the main power lines to our house was sagging very low. I called our power company to report the low-hanging wire. The power company came out and looked at it, and they said the problem was the anchor point had fallen out of the masonry. (An anchor point is the non-electrical hardware the wire is fastened to to stay in place.) Normally they would have fixed it, but we have a brick house. The power company's policy is that they will not drill holes in brickwork. They left us the anchor hardware, and said we should call an electrician or handyman. I called a handyman contractor, and he referred me to Mr. Shirbach because it was a very small job. Mr. Shirbach came over the same afternoon I called him. He fixed it fast - in just one hour start to finish. He showed up exactly when he said he would. The repair went very quickly, about an hour's time. He charged $125 for one hour of work. Mr. Shirbach drilled a new, deeper hole directly in the center of one of the bricks for strength. He also reinforced the anchor hardware with a couple bits of wood that will swell over time and make it extra secure. Mr. Shirbach also tightened the electric line. He was very polite and professional, and kept us informed about what he was doing. We have a historic house, almost 200 years old, and we feel pretty protective of it. Mr. Shirbach was very careful to have minimal impact. He has restored his own historic home, so he was very understanding of our concerns. Overall we were very pleased with the excellent, high-quality work. Great service, and the cost was less expensive than what we expected. We're delighted to have met Mr. Shirbach and we will definitely call him for any future electrical work.
Description of Work: Reconnected electrical service drop wire to our house, which required drilling a hole into the brick and installing a new anchor point.
