He did the backhoe excavation for my sewer line repair. Rodney did an excellent job so I asked him about doing the repair work on my front lawn. He offered an excellent price for the complete job. We had to wait until it all settled and the weather permitted the work being done but it was well worth the wait.
He spent the time to carefully grade the lawn and it is much improved over what it was before the sewer line was done. He gave me careful instructions on how to care for the seed and get the grass to grow and much to my delight it is growing, one week later.
For the driveway he gave me an excellent, affordable solution. Other estimates for repairing it were much more expensive. His solution of using millings is working very well and is again, a big improvement over what I had before.
I highly recommend Rand P Backhoe. He's a small company so you may need to wait for the work to be scheduled but judging from my experience it is definitely worth it. High quality work done with care is hard to find and worth waiting for!

The job entailed removal and replacement of approximately 40' of sewer pipe buried 8'-10' deep. Rodney maneuvered his backhoe like a fine instrument working carefully along the house foundation and near our long established beach tree. The mountain of earth created by the excavation was incredible. Our plumber assured us that Rodney would do an excellent job filling the trench and regrading the yard. He did. That weekend, I spent a few hours grooming the yard to remove small rocks and roots. There was no need to alter the grading. I seeded the ground and covered with straw. The grass is up and looking good. No one looking at the yard now would know that just weeks ago there was a mountain of earth in our front yard. I should also note that Rodney helped me correct a problem with a footer supporting an addition to the house. The excavation revealed a gap between a footer and 6x6 support. Rodney assisted me with securing the support with new concrete. Thanks, Rodney.

Rodney came out and gave us an estimate to remove all the shrubbery and re-grade around the foundation. The work was originally scheduled before hurricane Sandy hit, but Rodney advised us to postpone so we didn't have a muddy mess. A few weeks later, Rodney and his wife, Pam, came out to do the job. The work itself was a very well orchestrated event. After pulling out the shrubs with their heavy equipment, an associate came and hauled them away. Rodney and Pam then graded the area, adding fill dirt and ensuring the water would run away from the house. They spread straw to keep the mud down and grass seed. We were thrilled! We have had no issues with water in the basement in the 3 months since. Rodney just called us today to check on the work to see how things are holding up and plans to come by to check if the fill dirt settled. Rodney and Pam are a pleasure to work with. Salt-of-the-earth, honest hard working people. Family business with not just years, but generations of experience. We are planning to use them again.
