Social media sites have always been our primary source when seeking quality service firms, as we trust the thoughtful feedback/reviews and have rarely been disappointed - our experience with Dr. Solomon Perl has been no exception. When we made our initial call (a few years ago) related to care of our dog, Dr. Perl responded promptly and was very knowledgeable/understanding, helping us to confirm whether the issue was one which we could resolve on our own. Since that experience, every interaction has been characterized by wonderful staff who answer the phone and ensure accurate communication, as well as prompt follow-up and careful assessment of any concern. Dr. Perl’s convenient scheduled visits to our home always reduce stress and anxiety for our pet, who seems to welcome the attention, even when accompanied by a shot or teeth cleaning (without anesthetic!) We have consistently appreciated the personal attention, quality service and reasonable price that characterizes every interaction with Dr. Perl. It's not hard to understand why his unique veterinarian practice is successfully growing, largely due to referrals and loyal returning patients. Dr. Perl earns top ratings from Angie's List and other independent sites. It is without hesitation we recommend Dr. Perl to others and happily add our own positive feedback (for both price and quality) to the many other outstanding reviews!

Dr Perl diagnosed hairballs (which had been or had seemed to have been, a problem previously) over the phone without seeing or suggesting that he see the cat. Later when problems persisted despite use of a hairball remedy (which had helped before) he came to see the cat at our home and suggested that we continue to treat for hairball. When the symptoms worsened further, we took her to a different vet, and hey advised us to see a feline internist at once. We did so, but our cat died shortly thereafter. Dr Perl is one of the few vets that makes housecalls, and I recognize that his available techniques are limited by that. He does care for animals, and would be a reasonable choice for routine care for a cat or dog that does not do well with travel to a vet. But please do not use him if anything serious is suspected.

Dr. Perl was great! He was very warm and had a great sense of humor. He soothed the wild beast that is my cat and did it quickly.

This was my second visit with Dr. Perl. I have a skittish kitty that does not do well in the car or in an unfamiliar location so having Dr. Perl come to the house to see her is ideal. He is very gentle and compassionate with my kitty and my shy dog, and will get down on the floor with them if necessary. I can tell he is an experienced clinician who relies on his assessment skills to make an accurate diagnosis and only resorts to expensive diagnostics when necessary.

This review is late but it is urgent that pet owners make an informed judgment before using this doctor. Don't be fooled by the accolades. I believe that Dr. Perl was responsible for the untimely death of my two healthy mini poodles due to his greedy, outmoded policy of vaccinating dogs annually without regard to the animal's age or actual need to be vacinnated. I began using Dr. Perl for my two mini poodles who were in great shape. Unlike my old vet, he was willing to do teeth cleaning w/out putting my dog under anesthesia which I deemed a plus. Then I received a notice from the old vet that that for one of my dogs the 3-yr rabies vaccine was due. So I asked Dr Perl to give this shot. The dog was very lethargic for days afterward which never happened before. He semned to recover; I moved on. Then next year I received notice from old vet that the other dog needed rabies vaccine. Called Dr Perl over to do it and unbeknownst to me until later when I reviewed his bill, turns out he vacinnated the first dog AGAIN too. I was not at home when came for his visit; but when I got home the 1st dog was acting very lethargic and slept for several days. I called Dr Perl and asked why he vacinated and charged me for the first dog too and he said "I give vaccines yearly". Well needless to say, 4 months later my 13 year old mini poodle who got back to back vaccines within 2 years was dead. He never had been ill in his life, but became very sleepy after the second round of vaccines. My second mini poodle who was 11 years old when dr. Perl vaccinated for the first time died a year later, almost on the same date after the first dog died. .The first poodle literally bled to death of an extremely rare immune system disorder ( he couldn't make blood platelets). The second poodle, also very healthy (but needed regular teeth cleaning) developed a huge cancerous tumor on his liver and was unable to eat or thrive. (I called Dr. Perl to tell him the older poodle whom he had vaccinated for the 2nd time 3 mos earlier was now bleeding urine; he recommended going to the ER ; he never called back to see how things turned out.) After doing research, I discovered that it is unnecessary and often very harmful to vaccinate older dogs, especially annually; the excess vaccines can shut down a dog's immune system, causing far worse illnesses. I also learned that dogs often have enough vaccine in their blood from earlier vaccinations to get them thru their senior Years. The sudden onset of such rare illnesses as those that killed my dogs has been associated over or excess vaccinnation which can be toxic and fatal to pets. If you do your research you will find that no reputable veterinarian vaccinates pets yearly anymore; there are well known guidelines about this from the top veterinary schools; some suggest that in older pets it is wiser first to do a blood titer test to determine the need to vaccinate. Dr. Perl, as a solo vet who makes house calls happily operates in gray zone where he is able to escape using protocols followed by other vets; making house calls also enable him to escape compliance and regulatory requirements which apply to vets who have operate out of licensed offices. Don't go for his cheap rates or the convenience of the in home vet visit. For all you know a guy who uses his car in lieu of an office-- with no visible staff, records etc., could be injecting your pet with cheap, counterfeit or expired vaccines; any of these could be extremely toxic or fatal for pets. Do you think this is hyperbole? Consider this: The friend who recommended Dr Perl; her dog was dead of a strange cancer, after being completely healthy within two years after she started using Dr Perl. The neighbor who recommended Dr Perl to my friend-- when I asked about her dog, I was told her healthy dog was dead too. I wish the authorities cared enough to investigate how many healthy dogs have turned up with rare immune disorders dead after receiving vaccines. from Dr. Perl. I

The visit went well.  Dr. Perl arrived on time and performed the requested services.  One of our cats was rather difficult and had to be taken into a bathroom so that Dr. Perl could do his job, but he clearly has experience dealing with difficult kitties!

He's wonderful. He is a gift. He comes when the dog needs to be neutered. He came to the house, picked up the dog, did the job and brought the dog back. He's very funny. He has a wonderful manner with pets. He really has a great way with animals. He is very effective with them. He's a great vet. He's not cheap. He is reasonable for the service that he offers. The quality is top of the line.

I contacted Dr. Perl through a referral and left him a message to which he replied within a couple of hours... I wanted
my dog to be as comfortable as possible and did not want to wait for an emergency and have to take him to a cold and busy vet clinic. My dog had survived many ordeals and gave another 4 months’ fight to cancer but he was now sad and in pain... it was time...
Although this was the worst day of my life, Dr. Perl made the and quot;experienceand quot; as bearable as possible... He kept talking to me as I lay next to my dog petting him to prevent me from losing it and break down in front of him (which, once I realized what he was doing, reminded me of the Animal Reiki book I had bought a few month back after the cancer diagnostic to help me channel positive energy to my dog as he was fighting his last battle); He gently reminded me that there would be time for sorrow and grief but it wasn’t now and he reminded me not to stress him during this time. He was totally thinking of my dog, making sure that his stress level was minimal and allowing him to transition peacefully... my baby fell asleep in my arms and I immediately felt a sense of relief for him as if i was feeling his pain and hurt vanish... I think Dr. Perl has a great humanity and I am glad I called him. I am glad he was there to make sure I was keeping it together for my boy.
Three weeks later, I am still going through the worst pain of my life as I miss my companion every minute of the day but I am
grateful to Dr. Perl for coming over and gently allowing my baby to suffer no more.

He struck me as being unprofessional and uncaring. I can't imagine where he gets his great reviews from.
