The whole process went very well from start to finish.   Rudy recently provided another estimate to install wooden stairs to match the floors.  We will not hesitate to have KK Hardwood Floors also perform this service for us.   

EVERYTHING WAS WONDERFUL.

KK flooring did a spectacular job! They were punctual from the very start -- from estimate through the complete job. We interviewed three companies, each provided similar estimates in terms of price for the floors. However, only KK was willing to tackle the stairs. The installation took about a week since we were doing the entire downstairs of our home. The floors are beautiful! In addition, KK was able to do some light repairs to other wood items in our home. The work, naturally, produced a great deal of dust. But they were very attentive to that - helped in the cleaning. Also, they moved the heavy pieces of furniture and provided/installed the felt pads on all furniture before placing back in the house. Rudy and his brother Jimmy were very nice - always attentive to our questions. We highly recommend them and have no reservations about using them in the future.

KK did a fantastic job!  They pulled up the existing spindles and cut the stair banaster with expertise -- none of the spindels were damaged.  After installing the new stairs, they re-installed the spindles and banaster and re-connected the banaster with a goose-neck. Finally, they expertly sanded and re-stained the existing banasters to match the new floor.  The job was remarkable -- it looks so much better than before!  In addition, they were very clean and tidy with the job.  It is important to note that we interviewed three companies to re-do our floors.  Only KK was willing to tackle the stairs.  So, if you need carpentry done during the installation of your floors -- KK is the place to go.

KK Hardwood was very responsive, professional and prompt. They did a great job. We paid a bit more for the "dustless" machine but it was well worth it. We are very pleased with the results.

My husband and I used K&K floors earlier this month to install
flooring in the 2nd  level/bedrooms/ and staircases, and had a great
experience with them. We just purchased a house and had a very short
window of time within  which we needed our floors installed, and
Patrick/K&K accommodated  us in a very timely manner! We used
Angie's list and Checkbook to find  them, and compared them with several
other companies in the area. They  were by far the most reasonable for
hardwood flooring in terms of price, installation date/flexibility, and I
believe they offer a 3 year  installation warranty (vs. other companies
offering only 1 year).  Patrick also seemed alot less "sale-sy".
The
previous home owner had installed engineered wood floors in the  main
level of our town home, and we wanted to color match the existing 
floors with the new flooring, but gave up on that idea pretty soon after
we started looking at flooring. We ended up picking K&K's Bruce
Manchester hardwood in a gunstock color (which I believe is one  of the
most common colors). I mention this because, if you are trying to match
existing hardwood to your new flooring, and are picky about it, I would
ask for more floor samples, etc. 
In anycase, our floors look amazing, and we were very pleased with K&K.

I was very pleased with the work done by KK Hardwood Floors. Rudy was a pleasure to work with and was very accommodating to my schedule. As the house was a rental and vacant since the first of November, I was trying to schedule work to be done as quickly as possible. Rudy was able to fit me into their schedule the two days before Thanksgiving. Rudy's quote was well within range of the other vendors I interviewed. I chose KK Hardwood Floors because Rudy was the most knowledgeable about the situation I was working with in the townhouse. I would use KK Hardwood Floors again when the upstairs and staircase need refinishing.

I received three estimates for the above work.  While the price estimates were comparable, I chose this company because the owner came over on time and more importantly described the work to be performed in detail and explained what our options were.  Rudy sent a long time with us, making sure all of our questions were answered.  He gave us a written proposal that day and followed it with another more formal one.  Everything they were going to do was spelled out.
On the first day of service, workmen spend a long time preparing my kitchen so dust would not enter the rest of the house.  All the work was done efficiently with workman cleaning up the kitchen each day so that I had access to the kitchen in the evening.  All of the workman were respectful, friendly and fine to have around while they worked.
The refinishing and sealing was all accomplished in three days as described.  Rudy checked with me to ensure that I had the stain color on my floor that I wanted and was able to deal with my initial indecision professionally.  He wanted us to be very happy with his work.
My floor is gorgeous and more beautiful that I expected as promised by Rudy.  He went the extra mile with returning later to properly sand and install the correct pads on my kitchen chair legs and table so they will not scratch the floor.
I was so pleased, also, that Rudy made the whole process so easy for me.  I have heard how sanding floors causes dust in the house and therefor creates housecleaning work.  It didn't happen.  If you are hesitating because of the potential mess, don't.  Plus, Rudy and his men do outstanding work with attention to detail and beautiful craftsmanship.  

After receiving estimates from a couple of flooring companies for our living room floor replacement project with strong Angie's List reviews went with KK Hardwood because their price was competitive and Rudy was very thorough in describing what they would do to address some of the challenges we had with the very uneven floors in our old rowhouse.  They were also willing to work with us on the schedule (i.e. after the demo, they gave us a couple of days to take care of some issues in our crawl space before putting down the subfloor and new flooring), which was critical for us.  Rudy's team did an exceptional job at leveling our floor (something 2 other contractors indicated it was not possible to do) and matching up the finish as much as possible with floors in our other rooms.   Rudy and his team were professional, started and finished on schedule and were very customer service oriented.  The new living room floor and all the repairs they did were very high quality and much better than we expected could be done.  We were so pleased we already contracted Rudy and his team to do an additional project for us.

The team from KK Hardwood Floors did an AMAZING job! I am so pleased with the outcome of the project, I just can't say enough good things! Our old floor was incredibly squeaky and the looseness of the boards underneath the carpet made the floor feel unsturdy. Our downstairs neighbors had actually complained about the noisiness of the floor. Tired of looking at the hideous carpet and tiptoeing around our condo to minimize noise for our downstairs neighbors, I called KK Hardwood Floors after reading all of the fabulous reviews on Angie's List. Rudy Arredondo, the owner, came out to give an estimate and it was clear right away that he really knew his stuff. He pulled up the carpet to see what was underneath and gave a very detailed estimate for the work to be done. When he saw the existing subfloor he suggested that we install an additional tongue-and-groove plywood subfloor to help with the sturdiness and to minimize sound leakage that we were getting from our downstairs neighbors and vice versa. He has a wonderful eye for detail and suggested that we stain the handrail in the loft to match the floors, something I wouldn't have thought of but which really made a difference to the final aesthetics of the project, since the handrail is seen from the first floor. Rudy is a craftsman and was very honest and upfront about how much it would cost to do the project properly. I called another company to get a second estimate to see how it would compare and it made me really glad I had talked to Rudy first. While the estimate from the other company was considerably cheaper, their representative didn't consider any of the details that Rudy had addressed and didn't even look to see what was under the carpet. This immediately raised a flag in my mind that if I went with the second estimate, either additional charges would be sprung on me once the work had begun or we would not have a quality job or any of the nice details at the end of the project. Therefore, I signed the contract with KK Hardwood Floors. Rudy is very responsive and he and his work crew are professional, courteous, and efficient. He came a week before the scheduled start date to take the stair treads and stain them in the workshop. On the day the wood for the floors was delivered, he and a couple guys from his team also helped to move a lot of stuff out of the way into the loft in preparation for the floor installation. The work on the floor installation started on the day promised and the crew worked very hard to see the project to completion in as short a time possible. The guys were wonderful about helping to move furniture and belongings out of the way and also being very accommodating about making sure one of the bedrooms was available during the work to house our two cats. They were also sensitive to the fact that we live in a condo and made sure to clean up the common areas and wrap up work each day by the time our neighbors were home. Rudy's brother, Jimmy, was in charge of the work crew. He worked with them on the five days during which the bulk of the project was completed and he spent the better part of a Saturday installing the beautiful custom threshold and finishing some detail work. Jimmy and his crew really take pride in their work and they helped to make the process as smooth as possible. We are so pleased with the work that was performed by KK Hardwood floors. The quality is excellent. The subfloor that they installed has made the floor so much sturdier that it feels like we moved into a different condo. The prefinished flooring and shoe molding looks absolutely beautiful and there is not a single squeak! We are also really happy with how the stairs and loft railing and all of the detail work looks. There were no surprises on price and everything happened just as discussed up front with Rudy. I highly recommend KK Hardwood Floors and I would definitely hire them again to do the floors in our loft once we are ready to take on that project.

They did an excellent job on my hardwood floor repair. I got several estimates for the repair. KK was actually not the lowest, but I chose them because Rudy showed the most interest in the work. He asked more questions than any other contractor, and I felt that he would do the best job. I was very happy with the results. The new floor boards match very well with the existing floor. You cannot tell they have been repaired. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them to others.

Excellent! Rudy scheduled a time for the quote, and showed up exactly when he said he would. Each of the times thereafter the crews were on schedule. Wood for the new floor was delivered exactly as planned and placed in the house to acclimate as Rudy told me it would. The crew, run by Rudy's brother showed up on time as scheduled, and completed the demo of the old floor and install of the new over the next two days. Final sanding and finish produced n excellent end product that I am proud to have in my new kitchen. I am very happy with the end product as well as the professional manner of the contractor.

I called Rudy during my kitchen remodeling project when I discovered that the old hardwood floor under my living room rug might be salvageable. It was the original floor (1959) and a 2" white oak.  I'm not a huge fan of such a narrow hard wood and I had some concerns about the kitchen and living room floor being the same level, I'm planning on tiling the kitchen.  I requested that Rudy provide me with two quotes.
1) To restore the floor and extend the hardwood be extended throughout the kitchen.
2) Install a new plywood sub-floor in the two rooms so that the two floors would be level even if different materials were used in the two rooms.
Ruby was very quickly able to provide both quotes and walk me through the pros and cons of each.  He also answered all of my questions with and obvious passion and great knowledge of floors.
Ultimately I decided to just go with the new sub-floor in both rooms (this was purely a personal preference).  Within in a week of his original visit Rudy was able to send his team to my house and complete the job in a single day.  The team was very professional and did a great job.  They used 3/4" pine plywood (not reclaimed wood) with a tongue and groove.  They also took the time to clearly mark all the rafters and glue and screw each piece into the rafters. When the job was done they left the job site even cleaner than they found it.
Even though I decided not to have Rudy restore my hardwood floor I'm glad I was able to have such a professional and quality team complete my flooring project.  While Rudy was there we took a quick look at some other hardwood floors the previous owner covered up with rugs. I'll definitely have KK Hardwood Floors come out and restore those floors when I decided to move forward with that project.

Rudy and company did an excellent job of matching the new floor in kitchen to the existing floor.

We were delighted with the result. We were very concerned about how it would look, as the repair was at the entrance to our living room, a very visible spot. Our old pine floors are one of the most striking elements of our historic home. Rudy did a tremendous job matching the new pine to the old, he was even able to match the natural wood pattern!  Not only does it look great - you can't tell the difference - it is also more solid, as he installed supports beneath the new floor boards. He takes great pride in doing good work.
Rudy was a pleasure to work with: he was always responsive to our calls, provided a detailed estimate and invoice, performed the work on time and left everything clean. He was also very flexible in waiting to finish work and stain the new board a few months after he did the repair, as we needed to wait for a time that we would all be away.
I also asked Rudy for advice on how to fix other issues with our very old floors - to make them less squeaky, and what to do about some of the cracks. I found him to be honest about what we thought could or couldn't be addressed. I will definitely turn to him again when we decide to solve those issues.

Overall the experience was excellent!
Very efficient and professional.  I coordinated all of this from out of
state and when we arrived at our recently purchased home in Bethesda
MD,  everything was done as expected.
Rudy came out and assessed the scope of work to re-finish 3 levels of
hardwood flooring that was originally installed in 1993. He took pictures
for me, created samples of different color stain options and every time
was very detailed and always accessible via phone and or email which was
essential for this long distance coordinating.
I can't emphasize enough that these guys are top notch, they go above
and beyond what is expected and are genuinely concerned with quality and
work hard to ensure you get quality within a reasonable time frame for a
fair price.

I would consider getting an estimate from KK Hardwood Floors in the future.

Rudy was very responsive and his team was professional and did a great job with our stairway railing, which included removing the old posts, balusters, and handrails, all of which were loose and posed a safety hazard.  Selection of the parts was easy and they did a top notch job installing and then staining everything to match our existing floors.  The railing is rock solid and blends in perfectly with our newly finished staircase.  We're already planning to use them again for additional refinishing jobs.

Rudy was easy to reach for an initial cost estimate and came out to take measurements within a couple of days of contacting him.  He seemed very knowledgeable about the work and took the time to help us understand our options in terms of finish type, stain colors, durability, etc.  The crew did a fantastic job refinishing our floors and the stairway and replacing all of the shoe molding.  They were professional and customer-service focused, checking in a couple of times for us to inspect their work and make sure everything was what we wanted.  Their prices were reasonable and they seemed to genuinely care about providing quality work.  We will definitely be using them again.
