HIDDEN FENCE

I want to start off by saying I will be recommending Lester to everyone that I can.  He was very responsive in setting up a date and time as well as what was needed to make sure everything went according to plan the day he came out.  Lester showed up right on time and was friendly and professional throughout the whole process.  He walked my entire property asking for details about what I wanted and how he thought the system should be laid out.  When he was finished I couldn't even tell where he ran the line as he put my yard back together perfectly.  He provided excellent training on the system for me as well as for my dog so that I felt completely secure with leaving him there.  If this was all he did he would get a 5 star rating from me, but he didn't stop there.  A couple of weeks later when my final gate was installed and we were able to finally test leaving my dog alone he found a weak spot.  Though not a fault of Lester as we had discussed the setup, he came out first thing on Monday to lay down a few more feet of wire to secure the issue at no charge.  In my opinion this was above and beyond and I couldn't be more thankful.  All in all this was the best experience I could ever ask for.

I highly recommend contacting Hidden Fence if you are considering a fence for you dog. Lester has obviously spent time understanding canine behavior and has built a product and training that emphasizes using an electric fence to support training and learned behavior. Other systems we researched rely on the shock system to provide the training.

Lester spent only an hour installing our fence system and two hours training our dog and progressively increasing the "shock" power. Our dog learned the boundary of the fence on the lowest power. It is clear that Lester uses a system tailored specifically to each dog and not based on age, weight, or breed.

We contacted Hidden Fence via the website and received a personalized email within a few hours setting up a phone conversation. Lester spent nearly an hour with me on the phone talking about the Hidden Fence product, services, pricing, and answering specific questions we had.

Scheduling and installation was easy and straightforward. The price and service were delivered exactly as explained over the phone.

.When I initially went looking for a wired fence for our dog, I narrowed it down to two companies based on Angie's List, a google search, and talking to a couple of acquaintances. The other company offered something called Boundary Plus, which I thought would give our dog more yard to run around.
I talked to Lester first, since I found a couple of negative reviews of the other company. I probably spent 45 minutes talking to Lester on the phone. Lester had great enthusiasm and explained the benefits of using his system. Early on in the conversation I realized that Boundary Plus (offered as an option on the other system) would not work for us, since we have a fence in our back yard. Lester's pricing is fixed base on the size of your yard and it doesn't matter how you want the wire configured within the yard. By the end of the conversation, I decided to hire Lester.
Lester came out the following Saturday, since it was convenient for me. He walked the yard with me and helped me work through some problem areas. Next, he installed the wire. The wire is buried in the front yard and stapled to ground along the fence in the backyard. The heavy ivy and brush prevented it from being buried.
After he installed the wire, he place white flags around the perimeter for training purposes. During the training (as well as on the phone previously), Lester explained how the dog's mind worked. He showed great enthusiasm and made sure that the dog knew it was nasty white flags that caused the shocks and not him. Although our dog is a bit shy, by the end of the training our dog happily followed him around.
At the end of the installation, Lester told us that he purposely left the system a level down from what was needed so that our dog could continue to explore the boundaries without getting too severe of a shock. He told us to let our dog run loose in the back yard, but to continue to use our tie out in the front yard so that the dog gets used to the boundaries. After a few days, he told us to turn up the collar the final level. Our dog continued to avoid the flags after the single training session with Lester (your results will vary).
Lester told us to leave the flags in for at least 30 days and then we can remove every other one. After another 30 days, we could cut it in half again
For anyone looking for wired pet fence, I would highly recommend hiring Lester or at least consider him!!!

It went so well, I admit I was a  skeptic and not a "fan" of electric fences but Lester's approach is so much more personal and different than some other companies out there.  Lester spent 1/2 hour on the phone prior to coming out to answer all of my questions and concerns (he called within 30 minutes of me submitting my inquiry).  First Lester walked the boundaries with me to understand where we wanted the boundaries but to also understand where we might do future work (like gardening, etc.) so we wouldn't have to worry about potentially cutting any lines.  After installing the fence Lester explained to my husband and myself how the dog brain works and how we were going to approach training.  Then he started training our puppy on the boundaries (on a low setting) to not scare him or make him so fearful that he wouldn't want to go into the yard.  Then we gradually increased it throughout the training.   Lester trained us on how to continue our training with our puppy and even maybe future dogs.  We've had the fence now for over a month and it's such a relief!  I'm not paranoid about the puppy running off which he continued to do even after 5 months of puppy school and he has the freedom to enjoy the entire yard.  I would highly recommend Hidden Fence and Lester is truly the best.

We needed a hidden fence for our new puppy so he could go out without a leach or running off. Lester came out and installed the fence and did an initial training session with the dog as well as us showing us how to operate it. He came back a few times to reinforce the barriers with the dog and to keep us doing the right stuff to get the puppy in line with the program. Early on we had some anxiety as our puppy was a puppy and occasionally would do a "runner" through the fence, but we gradually upped the consequences and he is now 100% compliant after about a month which is awesome. I think his young age made him take a few weeks longer than an older dog would need as he was three months and a hound when we began. We are very happy with Lesters Hidden Fence and the service he provided over and again with no extra charge.

Lester wanted to make sure the fence worked and while we called him and he returned at least twice after the initial training, I felt like he would have kept coming until the dog understood. He gave us good ideas on how to make the the training more effective which definitely worked.

In deciding to use Lester's Hidden Fence over a more well known name, we liked that is was his own business and he seemed to take personal pride in making sure the dog got the idea correct. I am happy we went that direction.

Requested an estimate via the Hidden Fence website and received a response from Lester Pullen (the owner) within 24 hours.  He quoted $1250 for our 1/2 acre lot.  Scheduled the install for the following week when I had a day off from work.  Lester was on time the day of the install and completed the install in about 2 hours.  He then worked with my dog and with me on training, explaining everything very carefully.  He is very enthusiastic and worked well with my dog (a border collie mix).  We prefer the PetStop product that he uses as it seems to offer more variations in training level and also uses a digital signal that is less prone to interference.  We have had no issues with the quality of the product.  In terms of responsiveness, we ordered batteries from Lester and received them within 2 business days (he must have mailed them out the same day we ordered).   Also, recently our telephone pole outside our house was hit by lightning.  The power surge fried our telephone wires, and unfortunately also damaged our PetStop system.  We contacted Lester for a service call and he came out within 2 business days to troubleshoot the problem.  The buried wires were fine, but our control panel was damaged from the power surge, but he was able to fix the problem on the same trip.  The price to fix the problem was very reasonable ($100).  We have been very pleased with our interactions with Hidden Fence and would definitely use Lester's services again.

The installation was very good. The installer was careful and did a very good job making sure that he did not damage my yard while installing it. After the installation, the service has become mediocre to extremely poor. The owner rarely returns my phone calls. I left a message reporting a non-working collar receiver and the need to purchase another collar. No return call in over 2 weeks.

Lester Pullen is very enthusiastic about his work. He really loves animals and uses a training method that teaches the dog to stay away from the fence and in the yard, but does not cause the dog pain. He has a lot of knowledge about dog care and shares it with his customer.
