Description of Work: This unique shop is located just a stone's throw from the C&D Canal bridge on Route 213 in Maryland - 2 miles from Delaware State Line. While Petal pushers is primarily a florist shop, one can also find unusual gifts from handmade scrves to vintage cake plates and more. The shop sells Smith island Cakes - they drive to the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland to bring them fresh to their location every week. Bought one - it was $40. We first served it to company and then froze the cake in slices as the shop owner advised us to do -- we ate Smith island Cake for dessert and fed company again for over a week. It was equally as delicious eating the last slice as it was for the first. This cake is quite unque and is a well-known Eastern Shore sweet. I also purchased a fabulous contemporary bud vase - quite unusual - holds 8 cut flowers in different heights. I use it constantly cutting fresh items from the garden every week. I also had the proprietor create a special silk flower arrangement for an art deco vase I brought in - I wanted it to look like I had just cut the flowers fresh from the garden and it did! The owner is quite talented and does very creative fresh and silk arrangements. She has an amazing sense of color. I find that when buying fresh flowers for my home from her shop they last twice as long as flowers from other sources.One neat thing they do is offer "A Little Box of Happy" which is a mini-arrangement of seasonal fresh fowers in a small clear glass vase that's placed in a small gift box. It's only $15 which makes it an affordable regular purchase. These arrangements last as long as two weeks. it's a real treat to have them in the winter months too. The owner was was trained at Longwood Gardens in Delaware and also has classes in flower arranging for adults and children. One of my main complaints with other florists is the amount of the usual filler greens they use. Not so here. You get flowers and lots of them. Current arrangements we have purchased are filled with peonies and pastel-colored roses that actually bloom when you get them home!!!!!
