I am about to take them to the small claims court because I paid them money and they haven’t completed the services.  The person in charge has not responded, I called him and left four messages since the last time I saw him, asking him to come in and explain why he hasn’t finished the work.  He just hasn’t returned my calls so I am about to email him and let him know what my next step is.  I am very dissatisfied.  He started on really well.  He came when he said he was going to come.  There was a delay in the work and he kept giving excuses that there was a death in the family and that he had to go to traffic court so he couldn't show up.  He said he is waiting on somebody to bring in the wood to finish another job that he hasn’t completed yet, that we paid him for.  This is where it is left and I am really sorry because he came across as a pretty good reputed person and his prices were excellent.  The main thing is that one can’t just tell if people are overbooking themselves, because at one point he said he had another big job, so he would come over on the weekend as opposed to during the week.  Apart from the overbooking, I think his estimation of how long he would take to complete the job is flawed, so it takes him a little longer than he anticipates.  His price was fine, it seemed reasonable and he probably underestimated how much he needed.  The work that was completed was excellent.  It is unfortunate that he committed to do the job and mismanaged his time.  The only thing that would satisfy me would be him coming back and completing the work and after that, I wouldn't use him again.  They also did some work for my sister in law that was for $400.

Ben was is a master of many skills and an incredibly hard and efficient worker.  He was always prompt to start each day and worked until the days tasks were done.  He was excellent at keeping me informed of the progress and made a few good suggestions that saved us money.  He never was chatting or texting on his cell phone- something that really bothers me when a contractor is on my clock.
We started out with installing framing for new basement apartment, and ended up having him do the painting, install bathroom cabinets, lighting, tile flooring and towel bars, vent fans, medicine cabinet mirrors etc..  
Ben ripped up all the old landscaping and installed a truck load of new planting I purchased, including mulching.  He was very professional and punctual through out the project and always cleaned up the worksite daily.   When I over reimbursed him in cash by $50 for some material he bought at Home Depot fo our project., he let me know and returned the cash.  Very honest and trustworthy in my book.
He also helped (probably saved her from bleeding to death) a neighbor who yelled out for assistance after badly cuting her leg with a broken flower pot.  He is now her favorite handy man -to say the least.
