 + -1 moreHorrible experience. The worst contractors that I have ever heard of or come in contact with. They appear to be morally bankrupt and avoided repeated phone calls and requests to get the problems initially addressed. As time wore on and I demanded money back so that the work could be done, they initially evaded service of court papers and I had to resort to a process server to find them and serve papers. When I finally tracked them down and took them to court, I was told by the judge that I had sued the wrong entity. I sued the individuals involved in the case (David and William McClain). Instead I should have named their company--M & M Decorators. I am now forced to have to go through the whole process again. I advise anyone in the Maryland area not to have work done by them. I also would suggest you use a referral source like Angie's List prior to making a hire. It is unlikely that I will ever be made whole from this disaster but I hope that I will help.
Description of Work: The company involved in this problem project was requested to install a very small deck and French doors onto my home in 2005. The project under the most liberal of estimates should have taken two weeks for both products, however, the company took 8 months to complete. Within three weeks of installation of the deck, the rails began to fall out. Additionally, I found that the deck did not meet city code or home owner's association standards. I had a larger and more reputable company come in to estimate the repair/replacement cost and repair (to make the deck "free standing") of the deck alone would cost approximately $4800. The French doors that were installed had to be rehung by another carpenter because there was a significant gap/spacing in the doors. Also, the contractors left extensive drywall and masonry damage behind which also had to be repaired. The safety issue with both projects was profound as well. The door would not stay shut and had to be barricaded.
