Called the owner several times and left messages. Owner never returns calls. Upon my calling and making contact with the owner he said he was either going to Florida or returning from Florida. However, he never followed up, as promised.

From start to finish the experience was great. Robert was quick with an estimate and provided plenty of options for us to consider including ways to value engineer the project if we so desired. Installation was scheduled promptly and the crew did a great job with demo, repair, installation and cleanup all in one day. The gutter team followed a week later when the weather cleared. The gutters were NOT prefab and were measured and formed on the spot and fit perfectly. Again, the crew was quick and efficient. Overall a very good experience on a job that often leaves folks dissatisfied. Now, the next big rains/snows will be a big test but I have full confidence in Robert and the team.

Everything went perfectly. I was interested in having him inspect my roof (which had been shoveled off twice over the winter), inspect my gutters (which were really beat up by contractors trying to get rid of ice in them), and to let me know what could be done to prevent ice damming (which caused many neighbors lots of damage). Robert Pence (the owner) came on a Saturday to look over the job. After climbing onto the roof and looking around, he told me that my roof was in good shape and had another 12 - 14 years of life, and explained what he could do to prevent ice dams (use of Winterguard as described in other section). He also recommended that i replace the gutters and downspouts with larger ones,and gave me an estimate. I agreed to have him do the work, and he sent his crew out the following Tuesday. The original plan was to have the crew do the roof part on Tuesday, and then to have them come out a few days later to take care of the gutters and downspouts, but they did all the work over a day and a half, so the work was done early. Robert Pence was friendly, ,knowledgeable, and professional, as was the crew that came to the house. I asked one of the workers (two came out) questions that i had about what they were doing and he gave excellent, clear answers. Before they left, the crew cleaned up every last bit of debris from the site. Truly an outstanding experience - it couldn't have been better.

Fantastically. Robert was terrific to work with - always responsive, professional, easy to reach, extremely prompt and reliable. The crew did a nice job - taking care of the surrounding area (lawn/bushes/etc). They also cleaned my gutters. Clean up was careful and meticulous. I would highly recommend calling Robert Pence for any roofing job.

All work was on time, No hidden extra charges when done. Price quoted was price paid. Workers showed up when expected and left the job site cleaned up when they left. Very professional operation. After several bad winter snows this year there was no issues with any of the work. Contractor even folowed up to ensure none of this years severe weather effected his work.

He was absolutely the best roofer I have encountered. I did extensive research. His price, the quality of his work and his follow up were all great. He did a first rate job.

He was very timely. He was the only one of 9 roofers who would come. I had water coming in the house and he was prompt in coming and following up with me and giving me an estimate. I am considering having him do the roof. The cost was about $600.00. It wasn't cheap. He is not the cheapest, but he comes and he does what he says he will do. That was the going price. The other quote I got was $575.00. That was just what people were charging. I think you could get $500.00 so maybe he was on the high end. But at that point when the house was falling apart, we would have paid anything. The quality of work was fine. There was no problem with what he did. He was on time and he was very fast. He was here within an hour and a half. He was very professional.

I would give Robert Pence an overall rating of A- or B+. He was able to get us a detailed quotation and perform the work remarkably fast; within about 24 hours. Everything was completed as per the contract but some of the exterior caulking work was not done in the most attractive manner.

mr. pence arrived to do his estimate on a tuesday a week earlier. prior to the big snow, he called and scheduled my roof repair the day before the snow was to start. all of the work was accomplished in one day -- starting at 8am and cleaned up by 5:30pm. his crew was efficient, neat, and professional. the estimate was spot on. at the end of the job, all debris was cleared, any loose nails picked up with magnets, and the dump truck driven away without any evidence that work had been done at all. all in all, a relief to watch professionals at work; and mr. pence was personable and attentive to every detail.

It was a very good experience working with the owner, Mr. Robert Pence. A piece of metal felled off from the siding of my house right after New Year. I went to Angie's list and chose Robert Pence Remodeling Inc to replace the falling aluminum metal. When Mr. Pence came to my house for the first time, instead of giving me a price tag of replacement, he recommended me to contact the builder to ask whether they can repair it because my house is a relative new house. Mr. Pence?s recommendation made me felt he cares about customer more than making money for himself. After hearing from builder that my house is out of warranty, I called Mr. Pence again last Saturday, Mr. Pence came to my house in the afternoon and gave me a written quote showing the work they were going to do and the price. When I showed Mr. Pence the signs of leakage on the ceiling, he immediately climbed onto the roof and sealed the damaged places, he told me when he was back on the ground that it would rain on Sunday, indeed it rained all day last Sunday. Mr. Pence once again demonstrated he really cares about customer. Today Mr. Pence and his crew replaced the falling aluminum metal. The work they did was excellent.

I have water damage to an indoor ceiling that I thought was caused by a roofing problem. I contacted Robert Pence via phone at approximately 8:15 a.m. He said he would come by and look at the problem by 10:30 a.m. He actually arrived early, at 10:00 a.m. He looked at the interior damage, then went outside to inspect. He noticed that the damage alligned with a fan-vent that apeared not to be working properly. After testing the hypothesis, he informed me that roofing was not the problem and that I should contact my builder and/or a heating contractor to have the vent fixed. He also recommended a contractor to restore and paint the ceiling n the bedroom. He did not charge me for his time. I also appreciated that he did not try to get me to do roofing work (his line) when it was not needed. I found him professional, prompt and honest and would strongly consider him if I do need roofing work in the future.

Mr. Pence was as good as his promise in every respect. Most professional and punctual.

If you are really busy and need work done on your house, want to meet/discuss the work in the evening with the vendor, and then quickly get it done by a vendor that you can trust without having to keep taking off work to be at the house, then this is the vendor for you! I called Robert Pence Remodeling because his advertisement in our local home owner's newsletter noted he was rated by both Angie's List and Consumer Checkbook Magazine AND that he did roofing as well as window installation. He returned my phone call within 24 hours. He set a date to come to our house to meet in the evening on the next day. Within a week, he had returned for us to sign a contract, measured our windows, ordered the new windows and a sliding door, and he had already repaired the flashing on the roof. (We had a roof leak and asked him to check out the roof at our first meeting. He got a ladder off his truck, walked the roof, and then told us we had two areas where the flashing was loose, but that our roof should last for a number of years with no more leaks, if we only repaired the flashing. He repaired the flashing on our roof in 2 locations. He did this while waiting for my husband and I to arrive when we were late arriving home to meet him to sign the contract. This turned out to be a blessing given the storm that showed up soon thereafter.) The weather did not cooperate with our intended date for installing the windows (an unexpected nor'easter blew into the area). But he kept in contact with us almost daily so that as soon as the weather cleared, we were all set. This meant that his crew came on a Saturday instead of during the week to install the windows, but there was no extra charge for a weekend job. In 2 days, all was done -- 22 windows on a 2-story house and a sliding door. There is a lot of "stuff" when old windows are removed and new ones are installed, but at the end of Day 1 there was no "stuff" left in our yard and 22 new windows and a door were in place. He asked if his crew could store the dismantled scaffolding and work table in our garage overnight. At the end of Day 2, the "wrap and cap" trim was finished and everything that the crew brought with them was gone. No "stuff" was ever left to take to the dump -- the crew took it all with them. The crew is quite efficient, friendly, and trustworthy. When we need a new roof, I know where to go. This vendor is all that you could hope for.

Mr. Pence responded promply to my telephone call and examined the roof the following day. I was particularly impressed with the details provided in the written estimate that he gave me. His crew arrived exactly as scheduled and finished the job in one day. They thoroughly cleaned up the area afterwords, and I was completely satisfied with the job. I have every confidence that if I find any problems with the roof, Mr. Pence will come back and take care of it.

The work they did was fine. Mr. Pence did it with sub-contractors and some of them were better than others. But overall we were pleased with the work and it was done in a timely fashion. It was fairly expensive. They finished the work about a month ago. He was responsive. When we had a concern, he came over and took a look at it. He was very professional. He was very courteous in his dealings with us. They completed the job promptly. There was only one hold-up. The columns were back-ordered, but the workers were doing other work so it really wasn't an issue. The price was more than I wanted to spend. We have a big house, so I think the price was reasonable for what we had done. He did a nice job.

I called Mr. Pence after having two separate contractors not show up. Knowing that heavy rains were coming, I was desperate to do what I could to keep the water out. Mr. Pence showed up within an hour of my call and went above and beyond the call of duty to keep my home in good condition. He did more work than he bargained for, but yet still charged me the price as if he had just resealed the skylights. I will most certainly use Mr. Pence when I replace the roof in the spring.

Robert came and was able to determine the cause of the problem and gave me an estimate of the fix. No pressure was brought on me to hire him right away. I waited about a month till I faxed the contract to him. I made final arrangements with him on the phone and he fit me into his schedule right away. His workers were courteous and Robert Pence gave off a professional attitude. The only reason I gave him a B on the price is because I didn't get any other estimate. I figure the great reviews and my interaction with him was enough.

Pence provides up front pricing, prompt installation, and follows customer's preferences with regard to materials. While not the lowest bidder for roofing, I go with his track record. Protection of circumference ground could be better though clean up was good.

The crew was very professional. They were integrated to work in a group and had a lot of experience with each other. They were very competent. They cleaned up after themselves very well. I have referred them to others.

Add me to the list of happy customers. A few hours after calling, Robert came out to assess my 20+ year-old roof and provide an estimate for replacement. He not only provided a very competitive quote (I got 4), but provided recommendations without being pushy. I asked as a favor to have them paint the top of my chimney, which he had no problem doing. I chose Robert Pence because of the competitive price, detailed proposal, and stellar rating on both Angie's List and Consumer Checkbook (along with an A+ rating by BBB). Less than a week after initial contact, his crew came out to do the work. They did a quality job and finished the job on my detached home in less than a day. When the crew left, the outside of my home looked cleaner than when they got there. Robert followed up to make sure that I felt everything went OK. When I mentioned that the only loose end was the chimney not being painted, he made a point to have someone come out and take care of it. I'm overall very pleased with the experience and won't hesitate to recommend Robert Pence to others. Update: A month later, I discovered a leak in a bad skylight (not his work). On the afternoon before Thanksgiving, Mr Pence--on a whim to try to save me a replacement--personally came by my house to seal up any leaks in the skylight...and at no charge. Now that's service! Two years later and still no leaks!

It went smoothly. I was especially impressed that Mr. Pence came back to check and remove stray nails around the house.

Mr. Pence was a complete pro. He personally responded to my initial inquiry within a few hours of my call, and provided a written estimate within a few days. He was very flexible in adjusting the terms of the contract to meet our specific needs, including adding vents and an ice guard. He gave us a great deal, significantly beating the price of two other bidders. He was professional from beginning to end, personally oversaw all of the work, and had a great team of roofers working for him. As an added bonus, he was really nice to our five-year-old son, and answered all of his questions, too. The new roof looks fantastic. We would recommend Mr. Pence to anyone else in a heartbeat.

I arranged for five estimates, all from people with favorable Checklist, Angie's List, and/or BBB ratings. Robert Pence was the only one of the five to give me a written estimate on the spot; his was not the lowest estimate that I received, but it was the most thorough, thoughtful, and prompt, with favorable payment terms. He also was attentive to cost adjustments (downward) associated with minor changes in plans as the work proceeded. We sealed the deal on a Saturday, and at 7:00 am the following Monday workmen came by to install scaffolding and prepare the site. The work began Tuesday at 7:00 am and was completed Friday afternoon. Clean-up was outstanding. Robert was on site for a part of every day, and the workmen were friendly and careful. As far as I am able to determine, the installation was first-rate; the appearance is terrific. Now I know why people go out of their way to enter laudatory comments about Robert on the Angie's List and Checkbook sites!
