First visit to this shop. I, owner being 69 yrs. old, had to remove my 21”lawnmower from my car using metal ramps provided by this shop as they did not provide any physical assistance. I replaced spark plug and oil filter prior to taking my lawnmower to Pat’s outdoor equipment. paid 40.00 mandatory down payment. Called week later and informed that the spark plug, oil filter had to be replaced and carburetor needed cleaning. Asked if they had correct mower as I had replaced the spark plug and oil filter less than 2 weeks ago myself. Assured correct mower. Asked how that could be, no answer. Requested another mechanic evaluate my mower which was done. Same result. I requested what the fee would be to clean carburetor. Total after 40.00 down payment was $99.07. Total with down payment 139.07. With replacing spark plug and oil filter $167.89. I declined further service. Went across the street to Zimmerman’s Ace Hardware, evaluated, carburetor clogged, old fuel drained and replaced, drained overfilled oil. Total fee $ 87.95. So dishonest. Do not go to Pat’s.

Very well. They picked up mower when promised, performed the repair at a reasonable charge and returned when scheduled. They phoned to explain problem and we agreed to recommendations before work was done.

Paid the $50 required deposit and they said it would be done in about a week. Now they said they would not repair it because the mower is rusty. Are you kidding me? The mower works and the pull cord needing to be replaced has nothing to do with the rust, the motor is fine and the rust was visible at the time the mower was dropped off and the deposit was paid. Now they want to keep part of the deposit even though they didn't even look at the mower beyond the exterior where the rust was in full view. Unprofessional!

I brought my heavy duty lawnmower to Pat's because sometimes it would not start. I asked for that to be fixed and to do a tuneup and blade sharpening. i paid the mandatory $40.00 deposit. Pat's called me to to tell me that the mower was not worth fixing because the blade could not be sharpened and was not longer available. They said they searched for a replacement even in the 'after market'. Rather than trash the mower I brought it home. I looked on the mower for the model number. Pat's could not have done that since it was covered with dirt that I had to wash off to read the number. I searched on the internet and ended up by calling the manufacturer, Troy-Bilt. They had the replacement blade in stock and I received it this past Saturday. Pat's would have had me throw away an expensive, heavy duty mower for lack of a part that was actually available.

We had previously had our mower serviced elsewhere and the problem persisted after a "tune up" (as opposed to actually identifying and fixing the problem).  We took the mower to Pat's as it again would not start and the problem was immediately identified as being related to the carburetor.  The carburetor was replaced and the mower has worked without issue since that time.

Always cheerful, helpful and neighborly but most of all they get the job done. It can be a little pricey, parts aren't cheap, but the labor is reasonable and the works may take a little time because they seem to be in demand, but they are the best around. We use them all the time for our home and church. OVERALL A.

"Sorry for the check out fee but with the cost of being in business in this area and paying the mechanic the time invested on your equipment, i need to charge this fee. But in light of this I have not raised my labor prices in at least seven years. This is to try and help you all save money on repairs."

All repairs made correctly the first and only time ... Maybe a little pricey ... Two repairs and I could have a brand new lawnmower
Response from Pat's Outdoor Equipment LLC
"I'm glad you gave us the opportunity to repair your mower we try really hard to keep costs down unfortunately the cost of being in business it makes it hard for us to not charge the time and materials used in a repair. We have not raised our labor rate in over 7 years to try and keep repairs fair to everyone. Hopefully we will be able to help you in the future."

We have used Pat's Lawnmower Repair at least twice to repair our electric lawn mower and to sharpen the blades. There are not that many places that service electric mowers. Pat's also services gas mowers and lawn tractors. At the last visit, we wanted to have the handle mechanism repaired (for turning the mower on and off) and the blade sharpened. They told us immediately that the handle mechanism could not be repaired/replaced as that part is not made any more. Since we were not ready to buy a new mower (they don't sell mowers), they sharpened the blade inexpensively for us and helped me load the mower back into my car.

My Honda mower had a problem with a loose belt that squeeled and a problem with the self propelled feature which was making a grinding noise. She had me put down a 35.00 deposit when I dropped it off. When I picked it up I paid the balance. She completely tuned the mower (spark plug, oil, etc.), sharpened the blades, and fixed the self propelled mechanisim within 4 days of dropping it off. I dropped it off at the beginning of Spring and she had a line of people (literally) ahead of me. Needless to say she did a great job at a great price and was very pleasant to deal with. She even had time to joke with my 5 year old even though she was extremely busy. I don't want to go back because that means my mower needs repair but I will go to Pat's because of the great pricing and service. One thing to remember is that Howard County won't let her put up a big sign in front of her business so look for the big white box truck with Pat's Lawn Mower" on it parked in front. It is a newer brown/tan building. You enter in the front and your mower goes outside in the back. Don't bring it in the front door with you.

A friend gave us their old lawnmower. We took it in to Pat's. It was repaired and we used it last summer. At the end of the summer we took it back to Pat's for a tuneup, brought it home and put it in the shed. This summer the lawnmower would not work, started and stopped. We took it back to Pat's, paid the $40.00 diagnostic fee. Pat's told us that the lawnmower's engine needed to be replaced because it had been run without oil. We asked if oil replacement was part of the tune up service we just had done, and were told "yes, but we have no way of telling how much oil was leaked after the service." We asked if they saw a leak when they tuned it up...and they did not. For the record, there is no oil leaking on the floor of our shed, there is no visible leak from the mower. I believe they didn't replace the oil and don't have the integrity to admit it. We will NEVER go back. They take a long time to make repairs, they are generally rather surly in dealing with people and the "service" that they say they are supplying clearly was not completed.

The weather had gotten extremeley cold for a December in Maryland and the the meteorologists were calling for for frigid temperatures and about 8 inches inches of snow. I got out the snowblower and put it out on the front porch, ready to use it the next morning. They were right!! We got about a foot of snow all in all after it was over. The snow kept falling during the day and I was able to go out several times to stay ahead of the ever falling snow. I lent the snowblower to a neighbor and he returned it to me in just a few minutes and said it was not working. I tried using it again and it wasn't blowing the snow the way it should have. I used Angie's List to see which places near me work on lawnmowers. Pat's Lawnmower Service was listed and I remembered that I had used them once before. I called them up on a Saturday and they said it would take 10 days to 2 weeks to get it back. They were not opened on Sunday or Monday so I brought it in on Tuesday. I had to give them a $55 deposit and they said I would get it back within 10 days. In 3 days I was called and I was told it was finished. The total cost of the repair was $70. I was thrilled that the snowblower was fixed at such a reasonable price and ready for the next snowstorm!

I dropped it off on Thursday morning. They said it would take 2-3 days. They called me on Saturday to say that it was fixed. They rebuilt the carburetor and fixed the primer pump. They said it was going to be about $65 with parts and labor, but that was before they saw how bad my mower was.
