Jon was quick to respond, visit the house, and provide a contract. His crew was punctual. The work was good. We thought he wasn't the most personable, but decided that his work was separate and to give him a chance. We love small businesses. Small Issues: 1 bush wasn't trimmed, one of the edges was not straight, small areas of grass/weeds were still hiding under the mulch (some of these issues we didn't even tell him as they were a non-issue by the time we discovered it). Large Issues: Customer Service/RESPECT. My husband had asked for our lilies to be removed, but it must've been a misunderstanding because Jon did not remember. Jon was quick to call us liars. It's frustrating that we are good people who love to support small businesses as much as we can. I believe we were nice in our emails and he was very disrespectful and did not provide the level of quality assurance that he guarantees in his website. I guess he didn't need our business and of course he didn't take the time to come back to correct the issue, but instead gave us a $50 refund. I cannot recommend this guy. He even was a 2nd time reference for us and now our friend won't use him again either. I've included our email string below: On Fri, Sep 2, 2016 at 8:27 AM, Kim L. wrote: Hi Jon, Thank you so much to you and the crew for a beautiful job on the yard! We truly appreciate all the hard work, especially on the side of the house!! Our only concern is that my husband remembers you and he discussing removal of all lilies in the front beds, however they were left as is (see images below). We had assumed these were included in the scope of work. Could this be something that the crew might’ve missed, and if so, can they come back out at some point when they’re near the neighborhood? I’m assuming that from your message below that you are not intending to come back. As I’m pretty sure your business is built on references (as I got your name from a friend), I am very disappointed about the level of customer service. One last note, it appears that this last bush on the far right corner was not trimmed. You can see in the before and after images below. Please let us know if there is any resolution. I have never done so in my 21 years in business!! Your insinuation that I said that is proof enough to me that you are fabricating the truth. Also if the Lily of the Valley was to be removed it would be listed as a line item on your contract as the azalea and the dwarf Alberta spruce were. From the looks of your pictures all the shrubs were trimmed to industry standards. And I would like to add you had no problem with the shrub this morning when you said we did a beautiful job. I'm sorry you're disappointed. Feel free to take $50 off of your invoice. -- Thank You! We don't lie. We do our best to support small and local businesses and understand how hard it is to make a living owning your own business. I would think that as an owner, you would call this a misunderstanding before you call out your clients as liars. You were curt in your first response and completely unprofessional in your last. This job was little for you, but $600 is a huge amount of money for us and our family. Never did we ask you for a discount or try to cheat you. Instead we asked you to reduce the scope We understand that you and your crew have mouths to feed too. I don't think you can argue that I wasn't being nice in my original email, which is why I thought that maybe you'd cover the lilies and I would let the bush issue slide. You say it was cut to industry standard, but clearly from the photos it was barely touched if at all and we have not cut it in the last year. I truly hope the best for your business, but I guarantee that we will not be able to recommend you to anyone. I'm sure that it is no sweat off your back. I don't understand why you wouldn't easily change your service model to attract more repeat and new clients.
