We hired CHF for our back patio and deck rebuild. They redid our main deck and put rain guards underneath so that we could use the under deck area in the rain. They also rebuilt and designed the ultimate patio for us. They extended our patio underneath our deck added a beautiful area for our hot tub and another separate area with a fireplace. The patio looks stunning. CHF's team of workers work fast and efficiently. I tried not to creep on them while they were working but it was hard not to watch how they worked. They know what they are doing. We thought with the size of the project it would take 2 months to complete. They finished our entire build and demolition in less than 3 weeks. Jeff is the owner and is amazing. After the sales person comes in he meets with you to make sure that everything is right. We ended up adding some extra footage on to two sections of our patio which he did without an issue. The pricing was competitive in the area for what we were getting done. What really made the difference and what made us hire this company vs everyone else was that they were quick to get back to us. We had over 20 estimates done on our patio and deck and only received 5-6 estimates back and most of them took over 2-3 + weeks to get back. CHF was giving us estimates within 24 hours. We had them out 3 times as we were adding things on to our estimate. They were easy to work with. Easy to get ahold of. And again the work was A++++++. I 100% recommend CHF for any and all backyard patio and decking needs. Oh and I forgot to mention we had a doozy of a yard. We like many people in the area have a big hill in the backyard and they were pros building in to the hill.

Poorly. They didn't order enough siding so we have short pieces and seams all over the place where one piece should have been used. They took off our specialty gutters and didn't rehang them correctly, in one corner they never attached the gutter to the house and now it is damaged. The drywall work they did when a window was reduced in size has bulged and looks awful. Really not good work for someone who lives near their place of business.

We had CHF Deck replace our broken flagstone walkways with Nicolock pavers. The crew did an excellent job in creating a pathway with practicality and flair. The work was professional and completed in a timely manner. We were so pleased with their work that we placed an additional order to replace our concrete patio with the same pavers. Kudos to CHF Deck for a job well done!

If you are looking to have a deck done quickly and cheaply, this is not the company for you. These folks are craftsmen. It took two months after we signed the contract before the teardown of our existing deck began. They were here for a total of 17 workdays. Despite some employee issues which were quickly dealt with by the management, the construction work was a professional job that looks great. The framing appears to be very solid and well-built. We chose the Trex material for its look and its low-maintenance characteristics. We would recommend CHF Deck to anyone else who is considering investing in a deck for the long term.

CHF built a truly beautiful screened-in deck and patio (using a subcontractor for the patio, if I remember correctly). Two problems arose that are worth noting. First, to get it through inspection, they ended up adding cross-beams to support the roof that weren't in the original plan as shown to us. The contractor told us they weren't structurally necessary, but that because the plan submitted to the city for the permit called for cross-beams, they had to be installed. I have no way to evaluate whether that's correct. In fact, it failed the inspection, and couldn't pass until the beams were added. If the original plan hadn't called for beams, we were told, they wouldn't have been needed. The ceiling is otherwise beautiful (knotty pine), and the cross beams detract. So I don't know whether they're needed or not, but they're there, and it would have been nice to have that straight in advance.
The second issue is that six years on, we had to have some roof work done on the spot where the roof over the deck joins the existing roof. The roofing contractor told us that the roof over the deck didn't have an ice shield, which it needed because there's not a lot of pitch on the roof to keep water flowing. I'm no expert, so can't evaluate it all that well, except that it was leaking before the repair and isn't leaking after. The repair cost us a couple grand.
In fact, we'd had some leaking within a year after the deck was built. CHF came out and fixed it without charge. But for the bigger job, six years after the original work, I decided to go with roofing pros and be done with it.
The roofing issue was major, and something worth being wary of. But the deck is spectacular.
