The Design Expo - Flooring Center of Bowie

They arrived on schedule and finished before the estimated time. Gene Burton was our Sales Associate and he was a pleasure to work with.

When the salesman came to my home, he said my floors were glued and thus would be a 3-day job to remove them and install the new flooring. I watched the workers removing the flooring and it was not glued down. I called the salesman and he said he’d take $500 off the price. The 3-day job took two days. A few days later the salesman said he could only give me a $100 dollar break since the floors were nailed and the nails had to be removed. Even so, the job only took 2 days vice 3. Then the salesman left a voicemail asking me to send the $400 check to an address in Severna Park rather than the Design Expo in Bowie. My assumption is the Severna Park address is his home address and he is skimming on contracts. Lastly, at the beginning when we signed the contract, we heard nothing for 3 weeks, so I called the salesman on Monday, June 22, and was told our installation was scheduled for June 24th - 26th. Had I not called, I would have had no idea. I think this franchise needs to investigate the way it’s being operated. I would not recommend this company to anyone. James Curtis Millersville Maryland

Gene Burton and Scott Weaver of Design Expo Flooring Center of Bowie are knowledgeable flooring experts who know the products that they sell. They keep the project on schedule and check on the project results. Gene Burton was our sales person who made the transaction easy and free from high pressure sales tactics. They carry high quality products but know the appropriate product for your application needs. This kind of local home improvement business is a welcome asset to the Bowie community and PG County.

They did an excellent job. They were professional and knew what they were doing. The sales person was very responsive as well. We have used them before and we would highly recommend them.

Can't say enough great things about my experience with Scott and his installers! I found a vinyl that I liked but Design Flooring Expo didn't have it in their showroom. Scott investigated the product for me, making sure it was a quality product, ordered it, and had it expertly installed within a week. Looks beautiful! Looking forward to working with Scott in the future for carpeting in other parts of my home.

The price was higher, because I got top quality carpet. I would use them again. They do a great job, what can I say. I dealt with the owner and he had a couple of his workers, they were very good.

They were timely and very considerate of our home. They cut the old carpet to create a barrier to walk on. They moved furniture in order to put down the new Cortec Plus flooring we chose. The even trim 3 doors and made a new threshold. We were beyond please. They called the next day to make sure we were satisfied.

Design Expo did a terrific job which was professionally done from start to finish. The teak floors look awesome. Very satisfied.

They did a wonderful job. It all looks beautiful. Also, we were so happy with their work that we recommended them to our son who had them install hardwood flooring in their house.

Two man crew arrived on time, the flooring was installed within a few hours. I'm pleased.

Went to the store, met with Mrs. Weaver.  She gave us a sample to take home and scheduled an appointment for the next week.  Mr. Weaver came to my home and was very pleasant and professional. He took measures and called us back with the cost within a few hours. The carpet was installed today and we are very, very pleased. We plan to use them again and have already recommended them.

Ater I dropped in to select the carpet, Scott provided me with an estimate and came to the house a few days later to get accurate measurements and a present a firm quote. Installation was scheduled for 11 days alter, to allow time for ordering and receiving the carpet. Installation was scheduled to begin between 1 and 3 PM on a Friday, with the prediction that the installers would be finished that evening. After that window passed, I called Design Expo and was told the installers were delayed (the installers later told me there was a misunderstanding about how much work they were supposed to do for the preceding job), and they eventually showed up at about 4:45 PM. They worked carefully but fast, but the floating stairs in particular proved too much to finish that evening. They left at around 9:00 PM, having done a very good job on the living room, which they completed, but leaving the stairs incomplete, with some landings with padding only, some stairs with loose carpet, and so on --- very unsafe for getting up and down, especially with groceries in tow. That was something I learned the next day, when there was another delay. The installers were stuck on a job in Baltimore, and instead of showing up in the morning, as agreed, they changed to the following morning (Sunday), at 8:00 AM. They did appear on time, and finished in a couple of hours. Product: What I had ordered, satisfied. Quality of work: Excellent. Price: rReasonable for the quality of work. On-time performance: miserable, and involved leaving the work in an unsafe condition. If they hadn't done such a good job, I would have been pretty upset. I guess I'm lucky it was over a weekend and I didn't have to miss any more work.

Gene was very helpful in the store, no pressure. When he came out to measure, he was quick and professional and provided suggestion, when I asked for advice. The installers from Design Expo arrived on time, got to work immediately. They worked hard throughout the two days they were here. I never even saw them take a lunch break. They were very professional. Work was done on time and very much to my liking. The whole family loves the floor!!!

This was one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had- from start to finish!

Scott the owner came to my house to provide a free estimate. Price was beyond fair and he really honored the fact that I was an Angie's list member. I was considering getting a more expensive brand of hardwood- but Scott showed me another brand that would save me some money that would be a perfect match- he was 100% right! The delivery of the wood was flawless- they worked around my schedule.

The installers was fabulous! At the end of day one- they cleaned everything and made sure my bedroom was in order so I could sleep. Day 2 - everything was finished, cleaned- and they dealt with my OCD behavior of making sure my furniture was exactly where I wanted it and adjusted a heavy rug numerous times to get it in the right place. They were on time, professional, careful with my furniture, and the wood looks wonderful! I highly recommend using them.  You will not be disappointed! 5 stars!

Everything went according to plan.  We had visited their showroom to chose several different  types and colors of carpeting.  They arrived when expected and over the course of two days were able to remove all the old carpeting and padding and replace with the new.  They moved all the furniture as needed; though we did clear books and knick-knacks from everything.   They were professional and left our home as they found it.  No unpleasant surprises or extra charges.  We are very pleased with the outcome.

This is my second time using Design Expo.  Both times they delivered and installed carpet on time and in a timely manner.  Did not pressure me to purchase right away and were happy to help me find the product that best suited my business.  I'm sure I could have found a slightly better price for carpet but their excellent customer service and professionalism were well worth the added cost.

I found Design Expo through Angie's List. i called the store and Scott came to my house that very afternoon. He made an excellent recommendation for carpet. I stopped in the store to pick out the carpet color and Gene was very helpful with that. The installers did an awesome job, were very punctual and cleaned up really well after the install. I would highly recommend Design Expo.

Absolutely phenomenal!!!!  Scott was punctual and professional and laid out all the pricing (including his costs) and details.  NOTHING was overlooked. Provided a superior product (Shaw) installed for a WAY better price than Lumber Liquidators could even touch.  The install team was incredible!  Punctual, beyond professional, meticulous, fast, efficient, and NEAT!!!  Very responsive to communications.  We had this done to make our house more "sell-able" in the Spring; now it looks so good it's going to be hard to put it on the market.

What owner/salesman did well: 
visited home and advised on carpet type and costs for high use living room, small halls, and stairs; discussed and agreed upon where seams would go, offered a competitive price for carpet and pad.
He wrote down in sketch where seams would go, but unfortunately didn't get provide a copy. 
The installation appeared to look great at first, but it was not a good installation.
What installers did well:
Installers showed up in time frame and called 1/2 hour ahead. The leader of the three reviewed where seams should go.  Installers did not mar the new paint on walls and only chipped a small piece of molding.  They cleaned up after themselves well.  I only had to dust walls due to grit and grime left behind and found only a small piece of padding left in driveway. 

Service:
After installation, there were a number of what appeared to be seams where they shouldn't be.  The contracted installation team returned and the head of the team showed that these were strong creases and not seams.  He was polite and professional. 

I am very pleased.
