STAR NURSERIES

We saw the work of the firm and liked it quite a bit.  The owner met with us and we contracted for some designs.  It took a little while to get it scheduled, in part because we had a hard time getting a return call (this was after we had already provided a deposit).  After weeks of waiting, they came out and did the contracted work.  We have run into two problems.  First, and most important, the grade was improperly done.  Although the owner insisted that it was done correctly, we eventually contracted with an independent assessor who provided a written report that said that our basement was in danger because the grade was running toward, and not away, from the house.  After a fair bit of struggle,and a lots of unpleasant conversations and, to our mind, unprofessional behavior on the owner's part, he finally agreed to come out and redo the grade.  The second issue is that many of the plants that were put in are now dying, and according to a landscaper we brought in to take a look at the job, the problem is that the plants that were chosen are not ideal given the sun exposure.  We raised this with the owner, but he claimed that there was nothing wrong and, if there was anything wrong, it was because we were not watering enough.   Overall, very unpleasant and unprofessional experience.  Our sense was that they were not used to doing bigger jobs, and are better doing smaller jobs.

I HAD AN EXTENSIVE PROJECT DONE THAT INCLUDED A NEW STONE PATIO AND A NEW IRRIGATION SYSTEM. THE WORK WAS A BIT PRICEY, BUT WAS OUTSTANDING AND I AM PLEASED.
