A/C in the house was not cooling sufficiently on hot days. Called our warranty company whom put us in touch with Peoples Mechanical. Technician arrived 2 days after first contact when of course the weather had already cooled off... I was working but my wife explained the issue and he inspected our system. First, he determined that the filter needed replacement. He further informed us that the condensing coils were quite dirty and we were 3 pounds low on freon. Basically all issues typically covered in annual maintenance. After the $100 deductible, he wanted $180 to clean the coils and $50 per pound of freon. Warranty did not cover the coil cleaning and only covered $10 per pound of freon, so we were out of pocket on the remaining $40 per pound. We declined the coil cleaning and just paid the $220 for deductible and freon. I went to Home depot and bought filters and $5 coil cleaning spray and did it myself.
Overall the technician was good. Didn't try to upsell us and didn't creep my wife out (which is definitely important). I will consider them again if we need anymore HVAC work.
I actually had a home warranty and was referred to this company (so the price reflects the deductible). When we called he immediately answered the phone and scheduled an appointment for the following day! I was surprised. Although I was busy we rescheduled to the following week. The service window given was 6 hours; however, he stated we would try to come as early as possible.
During the day o f service he called 30 minutes early to inform me he was arriving.He entered and wiped his feet at the door and went to work. I'm knowledgeable about my system and I informed him that yes the thermostat was working and took my word for it (other providers wanted to test everything). He immediately went to the unit, and began trouble shooting everything. Within 30 minutes he identified the bad relay and checked his van for a spare part. Which he happen to have! It was replaced and everything began to work perfectly. He even left with a couple of recommendations that I did not opt for have installed (overflow switch), which is understandable from any provider to ensure you have everything.
