Horrible experience. Travis was pleasant on the phone when initially scheduling service for our rental unit (I was required to use Joy Plumbing through my home warranty company, AHS).
However, things went downhill from there.  When the plumber showed up at the condominium unit, he called me and insisted that he had nowhere to park.  I informed him of two parking options:  1) in the parking spaces on the side of the building (which have 15 minute limit signs), but he could call the management office and get a parking pass, and 2) in the metered parking spaces right next to the building on the street.  The plumber insisted that they "don't park on the street."  Huh?  When I asked what happens when they do work downtown, the plumber insisted they don't do work downtown, or even apartment buildings like mine.  Oh, okay.  Then why did they offer their services through AHS if they don't want to work in urban areas?  When I asked the plumber if he wanted me to call the main office to tell them he didn't want to do the work, he backed off.  Then I reminded him of the first parking option I presented - in the lot right next to the building, he said he didn't know how to contact the management company to get a parking pass.  I informed him of the call box right next to the entrance of the building and he could call the management company from that.  His response was that he scrolled for my name (I don't even live there, I have tenants) and didn't get an answer.  What???  Finally, I called the management company from my work phone to tell them the contractor was standing outside, at which point the plumber must have finally realized how to get inside the building and she found him in the lobby.  Okay, first crisis averted.
Then my property manager calls me to tell me that Joy Plumbing does not have a certificate of insurance on file with the building and that we need one before the plumber can do any work.  I immediately call Travis at Joy Plumbing to ask him to fax it to Mary.  He tells me that he does not have a copy handy and that he never needs it except to give it to contractors and the warranty company. He offers to call his insurance company to get it, but that it could be half a day, but that I could call the warranty company, AHS, to give it to me.  So I call AHS, wait on hold for 25 minutes, only to be told that they can't give it to me.  They also could not positively confirm that Joy Plumbing even has insurance.  So a half hour later, I call Travis at Joy Plumbing again to ask him for the certificate of insurance and he tells me that he has already emailed it to my management company.  When I pointed out that he told me he could not get it, and that I should call AHS, he said, no, he was able to get hold of his insurance person right away.  Finally, I express disappointment at the run-around I got from him to get the insurance certificate and his response was "I don't even want your business."   Huh??  So they are listed on AHS but don't want business.  Just FYI, this guy doesn't want business.  And they don't park their trucks on the street.  And their technicians are not the brightest in the biz.  Good luck to you Travis and Joy Plumbing.

On Friday evening of Memorial weekend 2014, the basement floor drain, in our Bethesda, MD home, began overflowing
with use of any plumbing in the house. We had a plumbing stoppage on a Friday of a holiday weekend!
I made an online service request thru my home warranty company, AHS, after being on a very long hold trying to reach AHS
on the phone to explain I had a plumbing emergency!  The online system assigned Joy Plumbing.
I called Joy Plumbing & left a message but I did not expect anyone to respond till after the long weekend.  Because I had not expected a home warranty referred plumber to respond over the weekend, & because I had an emergency, I called a few other plumbing companies who wanted to charge between $450 & $576 (Roto Rooter). Too much! I was going to call my handyman on Saturday morning.
The very next day, Saturday, May 24th, Travis from Joy Plumbing called me & determined I truly had an emergency. Travis took the time to explain to me what he would likely need to do and discussed possible costs which were actually very reasonable. He estimated $175 if the service was not covered by AHS. He did not inflate any prices because of the weekend, especially Memorial
weekend!.
Travis came that same afternoon to power snake the sewer line. What a relief!  I did not have a sewer cleanout in my house which made it difficult for Travis. Travis patiently and carefully power snaked from my basement bathroom all the way to the main sewer line on the street in front of our house.  He charged me only the $75 AHS service fee after determining that the blockage was caused by hair.
Travis was very patient, professional & knowledgeable. I would very highly recommend Travis & his company, Joy Plumbing.

They did an excellent job. I had got 3 quotes for the work and Joy Plumbing was the best price and they weren't trying to charge an extra fees. They also didn't try to charge me extra for the county inspector coming out.
