FRANK'S GARDEN CTR

Description of Work: The backyard of my home was lacking in shade and trees as it is new home construction. Not being too familiar with landscapers in the area, I used Angie's List to search for a reputable landscaping company. When I found one that I liked, I visited Frank's Garden Center at 12205 Annapolis Rd Bowie, MD 20720. At Frank's, I explained what I was interested in doing with my yard and was introduced to an individual named Steve who showed my wife and I around the center to show us a variety of trees. In the end, after doing some comparison shopping, I decided to use this service (Hawkins Signature Landscapes) and purchased 10 trees to be planted in my yard. The work was done professionally and Steve came by after the job to provide me with detailed watering instructions. A few months had gone by and one of the trees had started to get sick. I called Steve and he came out to take a look and promised that once the weather got a bit colder, he would replace the tree at no cost to me. A few more weeks passed after that visit and I came home to find a new tree planted where the old one had gotten sick. The new tree is doing quite well as are the rest of the trees.

Description of Work: I called Frank's Garden Center to find out how much it would cost to have 4 cubic yards of mulch delivered.

Description of Work: I procured over $220 of annuals and some hydrangeas on 7 May 2011. Yesterday, 4 Jun 2011, with all the the annuals dead and one of the hydrangeas dead, I returned with my receipt and one of the dead hydrangeas to simply ask if they would consider replacing the dead plant. The geraniums I bought earlier in the year lasted 3 days. The petunias I bought with the hydrangeas made it one week. Instead of just saying "I'm sorry, we have a no guarantee policy and thus no returns or exchanges" the nasty curmudgeon, Frank presumably, said, "I don't believe you." As an Active Duty Marine Corps Officer and a graduate of Washington and Lee University which has one of the strictest honor codes in the country, I do not lie, cheat, or steal or tolerate those who do. I've bought thousands of dollars of items from this nursery over the past few years and come to think of it, I pay more for their plants and few of them have survived. I bought $160 worth of mums last Fall and NONE of them survived. Don't waste your money here. Lowe's plants are 1) cheaper, 2) have a return policy, 3) the plants actually live after you plant them, 4) provide a military discount, and 5) does not have this miserable cuss of a human being with no customer service capability at all insulting customers.
