I strongly encourage you to purchase your cabinets elsewhere. Reico does not stand by its product and their customer service falls off the cliff once they receive your payment. There was MAJOR quality control issues with the cabinets that Reico did not acknowledge the problems immediately and when they did they tried to remove themselves from the remediation process. Reico also refused to recognize their own inspectors conclusion that there were significant product defaults. The inspector stated "these cabinets should have never left the industry." On top of all this, Reico failed to disclose that the product line they sold me where discontinued and unable to replace or service. Don't waste your time or money with Reico. Please note -- Pictures reflect every door and cabinet box.
Response from Reico Kitchen & Bath
"We are very sorry for the frustration felt by the client. Reico has regularly been in contact with customer throughout this entire process. Six months after successfully remodeling the perimeter of this client’s kitchen, they requested the addition of an island. During this period, the cabinet manufacturer un-expectedly discontinued this door style. Reico advocated for the client and the manufacturer agreed to make the requested cabinets. When some issues arose with the product, Reico actively attempted to address all questions and issues. If the client allows, we will continue to address and work towards a resolution."

Stay as far away from Reico Bethesda as you can. I thought that my project was incredibly simple. I wanted to replace a current vanity and countertop in my master bathroom. I knew roughly what I wanted in terms of cabinet design and had selected the countertop material and color before going to Reico. The new vanity was going in exactly the same place the old one was. I opted to use Reico’s installers and plumbers because I thought it would be easier for me, even if the costs were higher. There are so many things that went wrong – and continue to be wrong, but these issues were made worse by the utter unprofessionalism of my project manager, Wendy Kern, and my designer, Daniel Altman. I consistently got conflicting information depending on who I spoke with. At one point, when trying to resolve the fact that a cabinet shelf that I clearly stated from day one was essential to the project hadn’t been ordered and trying to figure out why it wasn’t ordered and when I would be able to get it, Ms. Kern said 7-10 days and Mr. Altman said it would be in the next day. When I pointed out to him the difference between his estimate and his colleagues, his response was, “Who are you going to believe? Me or Wendy?” My thought was 1) “Wow, that is totally unprofessional. I’d hope you would be working as a team,” and 2) “It would be great if you were both telling me the same thing.” For the record, it turned out that not only couldn’t Mr. Altman get the shelf the next day, the 7-10 day timeframe stretched to more than two weeks. That kind of exchange and the constantly changing information is indicative of my entire experience. I don’t mean “changing information” in the sense that the manufacturer or the installer changed the dates – which happened frequently. I understand that is out of Reico’s control. But assuring me of one scenario and then having it not be true, without managing my expectations at all, is what was so incredibly frustrating. I still honestly don’t know what the real story was with when the shelf was ordered. At one point, while having a very defensive conversation with me, Ms. Kern said they made a mistake, which I suspect was the case though Mr. Altman continued to insist that wasn’t the case. There was also the poor quality of work from your subcontractors. After the counter and sinks were installed and the plumber hooked everything up and left, I had to call Ms. Kern to call him back because one of the sinks was leaking. The plumber had also gotten the wrong information from Mr. Altman (and showed me the texts to prove he was right, though I didn’t doubt him) about what work was being done. And, now the other sink is leaking even though the plumber has been back to fix it (and he actually made it worse). In addition, there are gaps in the caulk from the counter installers and I ended up sanding down some shelves myself because when the installers did the cut-around for the plumbing, they left the edges totally raw and it looked like they had been chewed on.

They were a pleasure to work with, helping this perfectionist to pick out just the right wood and color for the cabinetry and the material for the countertop to match the tiling. Most impressively though, they stand behind the customer to make things right when there is a problem. Twice the countertop/sink was not delivered correctly fitting the cabinet as expected, and twice it was redone, including changes I wanted to make as long as it had to be redone, until it was perfect, and the whole matter was handled in the most harmonious way, for which I was not only grateful, but completely satisfied. I would recommend them very highly.

It was a good experience overall. There were some cabinet doors that had scratches on them when they arrived. We sent them pictures and they replaced those with new ones. From the time we ordered them to the time we received them it took about 2-3 weeks. They are good quality cabinets. Also, we ordered the dividers for silverware in the drawers. There are different ways to arrange it, but a it seemed like a standard butter knife would not fit. It was also worth getting the larger premium drawers for the pantry.

LindaRose Payne was great to work with. She offered designs we hadn't considered and help us arrive at the best design for our needs. We used Reico's installation program as well as getting the cabinets, countertops, and over-range micro/hood through Reico. The installation sub, Steve Smith of Smitty's Home ImprovementProjects, did wonderful work, was very careful and solution-oriented. When minor problems arose (e.g., a few couple of warped cabinet door, a granite seam that wasn't quite right), LindaRose was prompt in arranging for replacement and correction. We love our new kitchen and would be glad to work with LindaRose and Steve again.

Lynn Wheeler came up with a great design for an irregular space. She understood what I wanted, while pointing out many details and decision points that I had overlooked. She was very helpful during the design phase, and met with me several times for hours at a time to explain all the details and options. She was also very responsive by phone and email as questions arose. Significantly, Lynn respected my budget restraints, and delivered the project within that budget. Even more amazing was that the construction phase, from demolition to completion, lasted only two months, despite the restrictions on work in condo/coop buildings. During construction, Lynn intevened multiple times to resolve issues and questions that arose. Other REICO employees, especially Marc Jean-Michel, were also very helpful in moving the project along if Lynn was temporarily unavailable. It has been almost a year since the project was completed and I am still very happy with the REICO's work

They were very unresponsive. It took days to return emails and weeks to update quotes. Frequently there would be an error when we got the updated quote. We knew exactly the line that we were wanted and communicated this from Day 1. When it came to meet in the showroom, we suggested the 2 showrooms more convenient to us. Our agent suggested the one where she is based because of the larger showroom and because they would have more samples. There were NO Sample of our line in that showroom, which our agent did not realize until we sat down with her. They are only in the other locations. In the final email before confirming the order, there was a new error on the quote which would have resulted in the wrong door. Overall, disappointed with customer service and professionalism.

My Reico designer, Lynn Wheeler, was excellent and I highly recommend her. The Merilat cabinets provided are perfect. The subcontractor that Reico employed to do the installation had some good points and some bad points. Although my home is a slightly above average home in build quality, it is still what I would call a Home Depot house... easily reconstructed from materials available at HD. I think Reico's subcontractor needed to be a bit higher grade in their build quality. I had to help out to keep the work to my standards (which I consider to be good craftsmanship, sloppiness not acceptable). I ended up with a very decent looking kitchen, but I had to have another contractor come in and clean up the installation's details ie. replace all the visible cabinet mounting screws (they used drywall screws) with stainless one, and add additional screws, and had them all inset and capped; recenter the hood fan exhaust over the oven; permanently attach a fascia board above the fridge; redo the baseboard mouldings. So decent basic install at very good price but needing detail work after the fact. Should I really complain for the price? Well, maybe not, but to do it right the first time wouldn't have taken hardly any more effort.

I needed to purchase both kitchen and bathroom cabinets for a remodel. As I was undecided initially, it was nice to be able to come and go, (parking in the back) and try out different samples and colors. I enjoyed working with Marc, one of the designers. He was very helpful and attentive, always supplying samples to take home, and compare. I really like my cabinets and my experience at Reico.

The price was good and competitive, particularly for the quality. Overall the experience was very good. We had them design the kitchen as well as provide the cabinets. There were a few errors in the design so we would have preferred a bit better design process. But we found them to be easy to work with and very helpful. They made excellent suggestions on contractor and suppliers on parts they did not provide for the kitchen. Overall we were very pleased with them. We would use them again in the future and refer them to others.

They designed the kitchen and also supplied the cabinets and the new appliances. I felt that I had my hand held a bit more by the kitchen designer. He didn’t come out at all while the work was being done until something happened. Once he came out, he was fine. However, I had expected to see more of him. He had given me the choice of either choosing the contractor from the company or a contractor of my choice. I felt that the designer should have come out more often. In the end, the job turned out to be fine. I spent $16000 on the job, excluding the appliances. I might consider using them again in the future.

They have a very good design service that helped to highlight some improvements and updating that we could do. They were very good about setting a budget and coming in right on or under budget. Rick was very professional, very skilled, and meticulous. He sis superb work. He worked so that the project came in on time and under budget.

We had granite placed on the cabinets from another company in association with Reico and they messed everything up. When the other company would not correct it, there was a lawsuit and in response, Reico did everything to make it right. They did a great job and a lovely job fixing the cabinets. Their showroom is wonderfully laid out and the staff was very helpful. I will use this company again in the future.

The designer was helpful and followed up as promised; subs arrived on time to measure and install granite (excellent sub contractor), and cabinets arrived on time as promised. Reico installation services arrived as promised to install cabinets (2 day job) and the crew was courteous and professional. The company, however, seriously lacks in follow up care and services. One door a glide and several pulls remain to be installed (they were left off of the original order). Despite some follow up phone calls, we still do not have a follow up for install of these remaining items. We also called for service on one appliance as there was a small leak. Although we understood this could happen on newly installed appliances, we called RECIO for service and no one ever returned our two calls. We paid our own plumber to fix it.
