I was very pleased with the exterior painting of our house done by Gordon’s crew. They showed up right on time on the day we contracted for the work to be begin. The crew was neat and worked around our shrubbery without damaging anything. Highly recommended

Pretty good. We had them out twice in 6 months. Whenever we received an estimate for the fence, it was pretty expensive.

Optima Design are consummate professionals and skilled craftsmen. And they are a full servie design company. Not just painters, electricians and the like. I checked out three painting companies and four electricians to have some major work done. I needed my dining room, living room, two stairways, entranceway and upstairs hallway painted. I also needed three LED track lights and a ceiling fan, dimmer/controllers and two outlets put in the living room (on a new circuit) and an outdoor outlet and LED flag spotlight (also on a new circuit) and a whole house surge protector installed. I called Gordon and he sent his electrician and Jose Alfaro, one of his paint crew chiefs to the house. Jose looked at my space and the colors I had chosen for the walls (one dark accent color, one light accent color, and the very light grey main wall color and recommended that I use the light accent color on one of the walls instead of the dark one, and not use an accent color at all for the entranceway so that that small space would look bigger. That left the dark accent on my back wall and on one wall in each stairway. His team arrived on time, were very careful to make sure that the floors and furniture were protected and did an amazing job painting. I had forgotten to remove one of the old smoke detectors before they did the upstairs stairway and removed it that evening. I asked if they could just paint a little bit since the new smoke detector was smaller. They actually patched the wall and painted the whole spot so beautifully that I could not see where the smoke detector had been. That enabled me to move the detector to a better spot (I had been stuck with the old spot from the prior owner). After they were done they cleaned up and even wet mopped the floor so it was actually a bit cleaner than when they started. Optima’s electrician (who works directly under the owner Gordon Franks), were also top rate. They put in the cabling and boxes for the lights, fans and controls on a Friday. They also put whole house surge protector, the outdoor outlet and low voltage transformer and LED spotlight in on Friday and showed me where the cable for the spotlight was run so that I would know where it is when I do some yard renovation. The way my house is built meant that they had to cut several extra holes in the wall and ceiling to properly run the cabling but they made the holes as small as possible and left the cut-out pieces for the patching. Jose’s painting crew came on Saturday and did a first rate patch job on the drywall and were able to finish the majority of the painting that day. They came back Sunday to finish the job and do any touch up and clean up. The electricians came back Monday to install the lights and fan and pointed out that the darker side of the fan blades would look better (and more elegant) and put them both on the floor and held them up so I could see their point. They also did a first rate job and cleaned up very well after themselves. I also was thinking of having a very minor carpentry job done in the living room ( making a wood valance that was going to hide one of the track light bars to use as a “gallery light” for photos on the wall narrower). I mentioned this to Gordon and he sent his carpenter over. When he looked at the job the said that he could do the work but that he felt that narrowing the valance would result in the light from the track lights spilling into the room versus just illuminating the wall and that he recommended to leave the valance the way it was. He also said that once the room was painted and the dark wall was behind the valance that it would look better. He was correct. His view was that the whole design was more important than one little extra job. When I have my bedrooms done in the future Optima Design will be the only company I consider and I have already recommended them to a few people and will recommend them to anyone who needs painting, electricians and other design work done. Gordon, Jose and their team are exactly what you want when you need the job done well and also, very reasonably priced.

Everything went perfectly.  The crew was excellent.  Daily cleanup and final cleanup were all we could ask for.  Price was higher than other estimates, but a friend's recommendation, along with ratings on Consumer Checkbook and Angie's List convinced us.  We couldn't be more pleased.

They were very responsive, hard-working, timely and did a wonderful job. Today,  I had to call them back to re-hang the shutters which are pulling away from the house.  I received an email within 10 minutes with the response that they'll be here as quickly as possible to correct their error.  They are very responsive and positive.  It's a pleasure to work with people who care about your job as much as you do.

I recommended him to two other people and they used him. He came out and gave me an estimate. I checked it with other companies and that was a good estimate. It was lower than most of everybody. A couple of the ones that gave me lower estimates, I didn't feel that I trust them. He told me what they will do and when they will do it. They told me four days and it took them four days. They didn't start painting til the fourth day. They cleaned and caulked and scraped and got everything prepared and that is the most important part. He had three or four guys and they worked very hard. They did everything I expected and more.

Optima was very pleasant to work with.  The pricing was competitive though I would not say it was cheap.  3-4 painters worked 6 days straight to complete our job.  The foreman was very professional. The work quality was good, but I wouldn't say it was fantastic.  Every issue we had was quickly addressed and corrected.  Overall I am happy with the result.

Gordon Franks was extremely prompt in setting up a visit and giving me a detailed cost estimate (significantly lower than the competition), including copies of his license and insurance papers.  Communication was extremely quick with him on email or by phone.  All in all a job very well done. The workers were communicative, friendly, prompt, attentive to cleanliness, responsive to questions, and they did a lovely, careful job.  The job began when I requested and lasted the amount of time estimated.  I was at home part of the time but felt confident when I went out that the house would be cleaned up and secure when I returned.  All in all a most positive experience.

I interviewed a number of potential painters to paint the exterior of my house and my decks.  I then decided on three who I thought would do a good job.  Gordon Franks of Optima Design was very prompt in responding to my inquiry.  He was also quite prompt in providing an estimate.  His price was the middle of the three estimates that i received.
i decided to use Optima because they had very good references and I trusted Gordon.  I am delighted that I did.  Even before the job was done my neighbors were complimenting me on how great my house looked.  Now that the job is done I could not be more pleased.
Optima's workmen were very pleasant and always had a smile for me.  More importantly,  they were very neat and cleaned up after themselves every single day.
Everything that I wanted I got for the price agreed to.  As a consumer I can tell you that isn't the way it works out.  I trusted Optima Design and I recommend that you do so as well.

I have worked with Optima for years as a painting contractor and have always been happy with their service.  The fence project has been a disaster.  At Optima's request, I rushed to get the permit from the HOA in early July for the exterior work at our home,  but the fencing part of our project was delayed by Optima until the day prior to our permit's ending date, creating a rush scenario.  I specifically asked for at  least a very close match to our existing fence and while the one they installed was similar, it was clearly not a good match and of inferior quality.  When we discovered the mistake, it ended up being a long series of discussions about how it would be impossible to match our current fence and that the estimate was too low.  We did not understand this unprofessional behavior ... with two months to prepare, how could they not have located the proper fence or notified us that it could not be found and worked out a different plan?  And if the estimate was incorrect, why were we not informed promptly, BEFORE the job was started?
Finally, Optima agreed to replace the fencing and located the proper fence with the company that had installed the original section of fence.  It is now one month later and the replacement fence is in, but without post caps.  And we have a request for more money for materials, doubling the original estimate.  While I appreciate that they are correcting their mistake, I don't think it is proper to ask us for additional funds after the fact.  And the general contractor has not even been by to inspect his sub-contractors work and see if we are now satisfied, I received an email requesting the amounts due.  I had to send photos.  I cannot recommend them for this type of work.

Optima did a great job with our deck and kitchen, and were thoroughly professional.  When we observed a couple of minor imperfections in the kitchen paint job (a few air bubbles), they without hesitation came back, resurfaced, primed and repainted the areas in question, without trying to charge for the extra time and materials.  Optima clearly cares about the quality of its work and it shows, and was very reasonably priced.  We'd highly recommend them.

Gordon Franks and his crew have been doing our interior and exterior paint work since the mid-90s.  The quality of their work is always excellent and we turn to them consistently for our painting needs.  They move furniture out and back, they prepare the areas properly, they are neat and clean while they work, the paint is applied smoothly, evenly and completely, and they leave the house and yard clean afterwards.  The crew is very pleasant, efficient, and courteous. They are not the least expensive, but I know that the work will be done correctly, so it is worth it to me.  Why I rated them a B for punctuality... we usually have just a few days warning that they are coming, which is not a big deal for us, we have flexible schedules, but it could be for others ... but once on premises, they stay until the job is finished and work diligently the entire time.  They use good quality materials, also ... usually Duron, Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams paints.  Have your colors picked ahead, when they arrive, they will be ready go.
