"As the owner, I haven't felt the need to respond to a negative review in many years. But this one I will stop to defend our actions. As a 10x winner of Angie's List Super Service Awards, we take pride in our family business and try to be as transparent, forthright and honest as we can. We communicate openly with our customers. But we're not clairvoyant, we're humans. This homeowner attempts to paint a very false picture where we didn't maintain communication with him. Nothing could be further from the truth. I will freely admit that the homeowner emailed us about two weeks after contracting and we didn't respond. He emailed again and was upset. I personally contacted him to apologize for our oversight. I went on to further explain the internal process we must do in order to obtain a permit on their behalf -Generate plans, secure a plat from DC DOB, make associated payments & fees, line up our Project Calendar, and download onto DC's platform, and follow up to see that it is being processed. DC did their Zoning Review and determined the deck couldn't be built. And for some reason, the homeowner feels we should have known this?!? What the salesman DID note was there were larger decks than the homeowners built up and down the alley of their row home. Decks much larger than the homeowners very small deck. And it was the homeowner who contacted us to build them a larger deck! And it was then the homeowner who went dark on us! We followed up with them! I even called and left a message so I could speak to the homeowner about their situation. And I was ignored. The homeowner then demanded their money back...and was unhappy with the amount we held back to cover our expenses. He then threatened to post negative reviews if I didn't lower the amount of money I was holding back. And he has now gone to post this false and untrue review of what transpired everywhere. We're a good, transparent, honest company. And we're extremely undeserving of his review."

"We thank you for choosing our services. This project was a makeover project for a four-unit apartment complex. We had to remove and reframe the old porch walls, custom framed screens, and new storm doors. We dug up an old concrete walkway in the rear of the property and replaced it with a new, level flagstone veneered walkway. The entire front walkway was also patched and repaired and veneered with flagstone. Lastly, an unsafe and out-of-code stair system leading to the upstairs units was refurbished and repaired and brought up to current code. This project turned out great and ensured the units were safe and secure for the tenants. A good long-term investment for the property owner as well. It was a nice project with a lot going on and it went really well. We're happy to have helped out and appreciate their trust in our services."

"This was another DC row home makeover project that we have taken on. We do a lot of these and every...single...one brings it's own unique challenges. A double-decker deck we refurbished and upgraded to composite decking and PVC rails. We screened in the lower level deck and added a roofing membrane system to create a dry outdoor porch area. The entire lower yard was transformed from old broken and cracked concrete to a brand new premium concrete paver from EP Henry. This project was a lot of work where we were on the project for a good six weeks in the transformation process. All in all, it went really well and the end result is a project the homeowners will enjoy for years. They have a back yard outdoor living space that they can now use on three levels- the upper level deck off the master bedroom, the porch makeover off the main floor and the large patio area in the backyard. "This was a great patio addition to their backyard. They had a deck already, which was well-maintained. With two large dogs, one being a puppy, the area off the deck was becoming trampled and muddy due to the dog foot traffic. These folks envisioned a patio off the stairs that would be a transitional area for the dogs to land onto, giving them ample opportunity to then run off the patio from a variety of different angles and places so it then disperses that paw traffic. In discussing the project a bit more intimately, we were able to adjust the design, expanding this area a bit more, so it would really open the usage of the yard. Having a more expansive patio area then allowed them to have great 'spillover' area for larger groups just off the deck, as well as a dedicated hang out area with the built-in fire pit. It turned out awesome and it will new be an area that not only helps transition the dogs in from the yard with cleaner paws but also a functional patio area they can use for larger parties and gatherings and intimate seating in the evening around that fire pit. "This was a fantastic project and addition to the home. We thoroughly enjoyed working with our clients so we could deliver to them what they envisioned. They now have a 1600sf outdoor oasis built under and out from their existing deck. Premium Bristol Stone pavers were used in this makeover. Bristol Stone emulates natural stone with it's subtle clefts and textures of a natural stone, coupled with dynamic, yet natural, tones and hues of colors. An expansive step/landing system led from the front driveway to the backyard patio area. Built within this patio and under-deck terrace area was a water-diversion ceiling system and mounted TV, lighting and a ceiling fan for their outdoor living room area. Adjacent to this was an 'L' shaped outdoor grill island with fridge, 4-burner stainless steel, 32" wide grill and granite service area and granite bar rail for 6 or more guests to sit at and relax with each other's company. Lastly, we built a semi-circle seat wall with back support out of complimentary engineered block and pavers with a 4' wide stone circle fire pit. it's just a fantastic area for large groups, entertaining, and enjoying the outdoors to the fullest extent! The work was very, very hard and extensive. We had multiple teams working there for a solid two months in order to deliver this project to our clients. They were patient as we worked through some hiccups and delays that come with such an undertaking. And they were appreciative of our efforts, which we, in turn, appreciate as well.
