ALBERT PAVING INC

The estimate was free. He does a lot of business in our area. He is not the cheapest, but he is very thorough and he comes back and checks on the property after the fact which is kind of nice. After I did the first thing with him, he called me and when I called and said that I wanted him to come out and give me another estimate, he was very quick to follow-up with me. I think he values return business obviously.

All was well until the top layer of our driveway began to crumble and peel off, which began less than two years after installation continues to this day.  This is a process called spalling, which in the result of adding water to the concrete because it is drying too fast to work with properly during installation.  We have investigated the problem with independent contractors and with the Montgomery County inspector--all agree on the nature of the problem.
Readers should know tow more things about Albert Paving:  1) Joe Albert, the owner, repeatedly tried to tell us that the problem was due to the salt the County placed on the roads to clear the snow in the winter.  As noted, we have been repeatedly told that this is a common story dishonest contractors use to evade their responsibility for the job; and 2) it turns out Albert Paving, contrary to what we we told and our contract provision, did not actually of the job.  Joe Albert subcontracted with another firm to do it.  When we were considering contractors for the job, Joe Albert had us examine a driveway he had just completed in the neighborhood, and it looked great.  We have since visited that driveway again and talked with the owners, and they report no problems.  So we led to believe by Joe Albert that we were going to get a product that he did not provide.  After delay and failure to return our phone calls, Albert has since refused to respond to our letters or complaint.
We hope to get a full refund and then get the driveway repaired or properly installed.

Work was completed on time. The quality was fine. The price was way out of proportion to the work required.

The important thing is that they did a great job excavating before paving the driveway so that it will hold up for many years. When i saw a competitor pave over cracked driveway at my next door neighbor's house I was horrified. Albert does a thorough job which is much better value.

This company ruined my driveway. They put down a seal coat that peeled and flaked, leaving a mess. We now have black material which tracks in our house if our shoes are not wiped off. They supposedly filled cracks which we paid extra for and the repair did not work. Repeated calls to get them to fix this go unanswered by the owner. I would NEVER use them again. In fact, I am going to have to pay someone to fix this mess, and my hope is that they have not completely ruined this so that we have to have the driveway torn up. It is funny that they are still in business given the poor quality of work.

This company ruined my driveway. They were more expensive than other companies but I hired them because I saw their trucks around a lot. He came out to seal the driveway and "noticed" that I had hair-line cracks that he was concerned about. His guys started hammering at the cracks saying that it would compress the asphalt and then they sealed it. He said he's been in the business a long time and this is just what they do. This was last fall and now the surface of the driveway is chipping off and rocks are coming up and the cracks are getting wider. What was hardly noticeable is now causing me to have to get repairs. Albert Paving Inc is unresponsive to my phone calls and messages. We'll have to hire someone else to fix the problems he created.

Very bad. It is approximately less than 5 years ago and it has already developed significant cracks and is also crumbling in places.(They also did seal coating of the driveway which was a total disaster. See review under 'asphalt').

HORRIBLE. The seal coating that they put on the driveway peeled and flaked IMMEDIATELY (also making a mess when it tracked into the house). They did agree to recoat it several times and each time was the same result: immediate flaking. Subsequent companies said they should have powerwashed the driveway first to remove the old seal coating layers. Also the new concrete pad that they put in the garage has significant cracks and is crumbling(it is less than 5 years old).

I HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH ALBERT'S. MY DRIVEWAY LOOKS GOOD. I HAVE USED THE SERVICE BEFORE AND WOULD USE THEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I DID NOT HAVE ANY MESS LEFT ON MY PROPERTY.

IT TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS TO GET A CALL BACK. THIS WAS A COMBINATION OF THEIR BEING VERY POPULAR IN OUR AREA AND A NEW PHONE SYSTEM THAT WAS GIVING THEM PROBLEMS. ONCE WE 'CONNECTED', ALBERT PAVING DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. THEY HAD TO REMOVE A LARGE BUSH AND THEY FILLED IN THE AREA WITH MULCH AND FILLED IN THE AREA ALONG THE SIDE OF THE NEW DRIVEWAY WHERE THEY HAD TO DIG UP THE GRASS. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE DRIVEWAY AND ACTUALLY RECEIVED COMPLIMENTS FROM OUR NEIGHBORS ABOUT IT.
