The unit was delivered exactly when they said it would be. The unit was carefully placed in the exact spot we requested.
After loading, it was picked up on time. Delivery had to be delayed a couple of weeks due to the new place not being ready. The service provider was able to accommodate my request first, to delay the delivery of the unit, and then to leave it on site for an extra month - neither was originally planned for.
After unloading the unit, Rat Pack picked up the unit exactly on time, saving me an extra month's rental on the unit.
Overall, this was a very smooth move with the active participation of Rat Pack. They called and kept me informed every step of the way and were able to accommodate my requests with very little notice. I would highly recommend them.

I really didn't like the service. There was some good things. They had plenty of packing blankets and such. There wasn't any good communication. They promised to deliver my trailer before Christmas. It sat for awhile after Christmas. They were having issues with my payments. They didn't let me know that payments weren't going through. The money was there but the bank was holding it. They never let me know and that delayed everything. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. There was moisture in the trailer when I opened it up. Some of my boxes were wet. The delivery men were wonderful. They were very professional.

Container was delivered on the correct date. We filled it and expected it to be picked up on a Monday. Five days later, after calling every day, the container was not picked up. No one called us to explain why or what our options were. After calling several times, we learned that the truck was broken down. They have only one truck for the entire city and because each facility is a franchise, could not borrow one from a nearby facility. We had to talk to the national 1-800 customer service, could not speak with the local manager directly. We asked that he call us, were told he would, but he never did. There were several reasons why the container needed to be picked up: 1. A tropical storm headed this way, expected to cause street flooding. The container was placed in the street. 2. The house it sits in front of is no longer ours. We closed on it two days after it should have been picked up. 3. The city requires a permit for the container to be on the street, which was not obtained.
We had to secure a storage unit and unload everything - in the rain - to protect our possessions. The empty container is still sitting in front of the house today. We asked for a 100% refund. Had to call a different 800 number to do that. Unsure if they will honor their 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you expect prompt, reliable service, don't use 1800packrat.

The unit was clean and in very good condition. The unit cannot be placed in precisely the position you desire (unlike PODS). Placement is limited by how the truck can approach the location, the box slides straight off the back of the truck (remaining level) and is lowered into place. The local driver was helpful and courteous, but when you call for anything, you call the 800 number and get some out of state call center. When I called to have my filled unit picked up, I called about 10 days in advance and asked what the lead time was, and was told 3 days. I called a week before I needed it moved, and they couldn't do it on the day I wanted! (Tuesday, I took the day off from work because it was the day the movers were coming to move all of my heavy furniture.) So it was scheduled for Wednesday, by 4 PM I called and asked when the driver was coming (he calls you from his cell phone when he is 45-60 minutes away). The customer rep told me he would call, I called back at 5:30 and 6:45 PM, and was told the same thing. Thursday I called the 800 number again (I didn't swear but I wasn't exactly pleasant) the driver called me a few minutes later and said I was scheduled for Thursday! I don't blame him because that was the schedule he was given. My new driveway is quite steep and he could not place the container near the garage (I will say I don't think any company could put it there.) It had to be left at the curb, the driver gave me his cell number and said if the town hassled me about the unit in the street, call him direct. The next day I came home from work to a bright orange sticker on the unit saying it had to be removed in 48 hrs. I emptied the unit Friday night and Saturday morning, and the driver came Sat about 3 PM and took the empty. Like I said, the local office was excellent, but the out-of-state customer service stinks.

The beginning of the service was wonderful. The driver showed up and got the container into a tight spot without any damage to anything around. They were prompt, quick and very minimally intrusive. They picked up the container just when they said they would and once again got it out of a tight spot without any problems. The problems came when the container was dropped off at our new house. We had arranged for the container to be delivered on one day and picked up two days later. The spot, although large, was difficult to reach because of a slope, however the driver still managed it. A few hours after dropping the container off, the driver called me to ask if we could have it ready for pick up the next day rather than two days later. I informed him that my children and I had no help unloading the furniture, as my husband was gone on a military duty and that we could have the container available the next day if someone helped us move the last few bookcases out of the container. The caller assured me that would be no problem. A few hours later he called back and informed me that he could indeed help move the bookcases, but "he would have to get paid." I asked him how much he wanted to charge and he said he couldn't quote anything over the phone, but "it wouldn't be too much." I reminded him that we were trying to get the container ready for pick up ourselves and there wasn't much left to move, but he was adamant that they (1) needed the container the next day and (2) he would charge us for moving the 5 bookcases left in there. My children and I stayed up until 11 pm that night clearing out the container. 1800PACKRAT picked it up without even notifying us that they were at our house the next day, or asking if the bookcases were still in the container. Obviously they did not owe us a moving service, but I was more than put off by the attitude demonstrated when they were asking us to have the container ready early and yet refusing to help no matter what the circumstances were. In addition, we paid for an entire month of storage, so there were no monetary reasons on our side why it was imperative the container be picked up immediately. I will not be using 1800PACKRAT in the future.

Great customer service. Delivered on time. Pricing was cut and dry. No surprises at all. Exactly what they said it would be. Only problem I came across was in hustle and bustle of planning the move (logistical nightmare when you're not actually moving from one home to another) was they never even mentioned scheduling a time to pick up the pods. Also, when I asked whom they could recommend me to have pack the pods they gave me one name/number and another name but no phone number. What? So basically two days before closing I remembered I had to schedule to have it picked up. They couldn't do it for over a week. After speaking to a supervisor I was able to have them at least pick up the one in the driveway so we could still close on the house but if they had not agreed it would have been a nightmare.
