EXCELLENT. Quick, prompt response. Evaluated problem and presented all possible options. They were courteous and did not pressure to take the most expensive option. I ultimately decided to replace the entire system. The crew that did the replacement was excellent. Took great care to minimize disruption. Cleaned up after instillation very well. Reviewed and explained new system clearly and answered any questions I had. Overall, I can't imagine it going any better. Highest possible recommendation.

With no AC, we called an HVAC company and they told us that the rusted couplers in our unit could not be replaced and we had to either replace the compressor on a 10 year old unit or replace the entire unit. We decided to get another opinion. We called 1st Service and they were quite knowledgeable about our problem. A crew came out within 2 hours. Kirk and Phil were great - professional, courteous and thorough. They were able to take care of our problem and replace the couplers (in the rain) as opposed to the much more expensive option. After replacing couplers, they recharged the unit and checked out the system. We highly recommend them and will definitely call them the next time we need service.

Just as they stated. Didn't try to talk me into anything I didn't need. What they didn't do, the service tech basically explained to me how to do it myself and paying someone else to do it would have been throwing money away. Will call them if I need further assistance.

I had used 1st Service for maintenance on my two AC units that were 20 years old and in very poor condition. The one unit finally deteriorated so badly with rust that it was unusable. So I called 1st Service for an estimate to replace them. Jim came out at the scheduled time and we discussed the job and the option of replacing the AC units with heat pumps. I have electric baseboard heat and it is very expensive so I was looking to reduce the overall heating cost. Using the electric baseboard as back up heat is not the normal configuration but Jim was willing to work with me and we designed a good solution. Jim sent a proposal with the minimum cost as the base line but he included all the options including the heat pump option so it was easy to compare the costs. I was impressed he didn't start with the most expensive and force me to cut out things. I thought their prices were very reasonable for the amount of work needed. We agreed on a schedule. 1st Service had to change the schedule due to weather but they called a week or two in advance with plenty of notice. I appreciated this since I have to drive from Baltimore to let them in. They arrived promptly on the rescheduled date. They were very efficient removing the old equipment. This was a complete replacement of all the equipment inside and outside. Jim had explained that because of the age of the units and the changes in the laws there was no way to reuse anything. It didn't matter anyway since the old units were rusted beyond use. The techs put down protective covers on all floors and rugs. They estimated two days to finish and were done in 2 and 1/2. This is a two zone system and now includes programmable thermostats that are remotely accessible. The techs took the time to instruct me on their use and it was easy to set up the schedule and use the thermostats. Overall the system works beautifully. The units are much much quieter than the old ones and so much more efficient. The house is evenly heated and very comfortable even at the most economical settings. I am very happy with the 2 zone configuration 1st Service installed and the very professional way the entire job was done. The techs were very knowledgeable and obviously cared about doing a top notch job. Overall I am very pleased with this whole experience and intend to stay with 1st Service for the yearly maintenance.

I have a home in Fenwick Island, Delaware ( beach side) After a weekend full of company, I noticed that there was water and quot;flowingand quot; from our York heat pump through the vents and the floor. I called Custom Mechanical in Bethany Beach, Delaware. They arrived two days later, and charged $190.00 for a 30 minute visit to and quot;drainand quot; the pump. The technician said the Heat Pump was on life support. So.. the next day, Custom Mechanical sent a very nice and quot;Sales Expertand quot; who told me I needed a new $6800.00 System. I signed the papers and said OK.
I was frantic, and my neighbor Jim Murphy said and quot; What about Boband quot; ? I said and quot;Bob Whoand quot;? He said, and quot;Bob Lemleyand quot; from 1st Service in Berlin. So... I called Bob and he listened to me whine and Bob said. Look., I will be out there today. I will check your system for no charge. We can fix it. Calm Down. Bob is a very, very calm person.
Bob came to the house, evaluated the system and determined that I did not need a complete system. He replaced the outdoor unit, did a full service on the indoor component and built and installed a FEMA compliant stand.

So today, a team of (4) extremely polite, knowledgeable and articulate technicians came and installed the Unit. They moved firewood and worked through pouring down rain. They had total assistance from my 130 pound St. Berdoodle, Tugboat.

We have a service contract with a competitor in the area, who recently checked out the system less than a week before we called 1st Service. Interestingly, the air conditioning unit failed a week after the other company supposedly checked everything out. The competitor also tried to sell us hundreds of dollars of service and additional maintenance. About a week later, the air conditioning unit was not cooling, so we called 1st Service for a second opinion. 1st Service responded to our call the same day. The technician from 1st Service found a faulty capacitor - it is surprising that the competitor never found this although they supposedly did a complete check of the entire system less than a week earlier. The 1st Service Technician was very knowledgeable and thorough. We will be changing our yearly, service contract to 1st Service.

The guy came and did the normal service check and work as usual. He confirmed what I already knew (my A/C fan motor was going) but said I didn't need to worry about it for this year (He said it would probably hold up for awhile) He also informed me that my 14 year old heating unit and cooling unit were in good shape for being that old.
I had to ask him about the possibility of a service agreement (He didn't try and sell me). He did not have the correct size filter on his truck for my unit but he brought it by the next day (on his own time) and installed it. I contacted the owner to tell him how pleased I was!

When another compamy told us that our compressor was shot we started calling for estimates on a new unit to replace the heat and air.1st Service found that the compressor was fine and repaired the unit in less than 1/2 hour. We will be calling them when we decide to replace our system. Thnaks for everything.
