Woke up on a Monday morning to no hot water in the house. Called JBI and they sent a very nice technician out at a time that fit my schedule. He quickly inspected the water heater and found that the heating element had failed. He picked up a new part and installed it. Then tested to make sure everything was working properly. Very friendly and very prompt service!
Highly recommend. I will be using them in the future for sure!

The provider was called out because our air conditioning was no longer running cold. The tech found no freon in the system, and I authorized the tech to put in 7 pound of freon at $75/pound. (My understanding here is that total work would be $525. As he began work, he discovered a leaking sensor (a piece that sticks out of the main unit), and said that was likely the cause of the leak and he would need to order the new part. We also discussed possible replacement of the system because it is an older model. He said he would get me an estimate to replace the sensor and add freon, or replace the entire unit.
As he left, he then asked for $200 to cover 1 hour of labor, even though he could not finish the job. ($120 for first 30 minutes, plus $65 for the second 30 minutes, and $15 in fuel charge.) We spent a good amount of that time discussing options of fix versus replace. I though he was going to provide me an estimate, not a bill. Nothing had been fixed. I was shocked and paid, although now regret that. He did say it could be applied to future work.
Had they been up front about what I was being charged, this situation would not have occurred. What a rip off - $200 for somebody to open the unit, close it and then leave. My a/c still is not cold. I was considering using them to replace the whole unit, at this point though I think I'll use somebody else.

Hal (the owner) did much of the work. He is friendly and capable. Every time he came over he said the office would call to make the next appointment. They never did. I would call them, and while the receptionists were friendly and professional, their promises to get right back to me always fell short. Once they asked if they could come over on Tuesday, and I replied morning only. They showed up in the afternoon, assuring me that they could do the work without me there. But when they were done, they left a message with my wife that led to a misunderstanding.
When they finally got around to doing the work, though, it appeared to be flawless.

A very reasonable price and a superb job. Hal and the JBI Team (including Bill Murray) are truly a blessing for owners and property managers. Brothers)Did so with a minimum of holes in wall and ceilings. Did the work in a professional manor. Everything seems good no leaks etc. Will use in the future. Also many years ago used JBI (Jolles Brothers) to convert from oil to gas and did a great job then also.

They were fine and they did the job. I was happy with their services. This was the first time I used them. They made some recommendations in terms of how you use your drainage and what not. I chose them after I looked at the reviews and I saw that people were satisfied with the work that they did. They charge by the hour and I'm staying away from people like that especially after my last ordeal. I don't like unexpected fees but I would use them again.

Unfortunately, I was not able to use the deal because they don't service my area. However, the lady I dealt with was very nice and helpful. She just let me know to call Angie's List and we would get it all taken care of.

We called them on Monday after having our system go out on Saturday. They were able to make us their first call because they are out of Beltsville and right down the street from us. They showed up in half an hour and had everything fixed within an hour. About two days later they sent us a copy of our bill and another receipt for our records. They were very professional.

Their name had changed slightly from the last time we used them so I don't know if they were still under the same management or not. They came and it was bad experience which wasn't I expected because we used them before and it was great. They fix the freon on one unit and that was about $600 or something and then they said that the air convenient that they did needed exhaust because the coil is bad and at first they tested it and they put some kind of dye and they test it. Later we found out that's not recommended by our manufacture so we had to pay some more additional money in order to clean that up. They sell us a used coil for $600 and at that point we decided not to go with them because $1600 was a lot of money and we found out that our coil don't have any problem. They completely misdiagnose the problem. We also found out because we had a air-conditioning problem this year in May we found out that they did repair the leak that they did for freon on one of the unit it turned out that the unit had a leak and it needed to be repaired so we had to pay to refill the freon again this year that we have a massive leak that the freon which basically had gotten all the freon leak out and we didn't know that so went to go on the air-conditioner this year and it was not working and we just turned the air down like thinking maybe it's just not cold enough or something well it turned out because if has no freon in it it was stocking air out from outdoors or something like and we basicall had the whole unit replaced this year.

"[member name removed], Sorry you seemed to have a problem with the service but the way you wrote about the issue makes it very hard for me to understand what you are complaining about. It appears you solved the problem by replacing the entire unit and that is surely one option for fixing the problem you had. I do not feel the pricing for what was preformed was out of line and our repair would have been a lot less than what you paid for a complete system. Sorry you had a problem I had no idea as I do not recall us discussing the service you where given and that there was ever a problem. The company has not changed hands and after being in business for over 30 years we generally have very satisfied clients as you can see from the reviews . Aside from a problem with the furnace filter, all went fine. The furnace filter could not be fitted where I was told it could be due to the flue location. The company eventually had custom grills made to allow for easy filter replacement. I was not happy that custom filters were now required, but to be clear, everything else was to my satisfaction. The workmen were professional and had to custom fit several items into my old house.

Repairs undertaken from mid-October 2012 to mid-April 2013. Basic problem was the inability of the ancient system to switch from A/C to heating and back again, and a noisy motor. The first visit in early October was to survey the system to determine what needed to be done and what parts were required. Weeks later the company installed 2 Honeywell valves to regulate the heating system. Later they installed a new relay to stop the buzzing of another unit's motor in another room. Finally they installed a new thermostat control mechanism to allow the system to switch between A/C and heat. The broken themostat was not discovered until the seasons changed when we needed to switch back to A/C. A long process that has finally resulted in a working system.

Met with Mr. Hal Jolles to discuss generator options. Selected the generator. When the generator was delivered we arranged for installation. Workers were very professional and cleaned up every day. They moved an air conditioner unit to make the area where the generator was going look better. We were very pleased with their work. On another occasion our furnace fan went out. Someone was out the next day to replace the fan.

Overall, the experience went very well. We began this effort just when Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast and so obtaining the generator we required took many weeks - an experience shared by many and no fault of JBI. Our only downside was that JBI was not as proactive as we would have liked in keeping us posted as they worked to obtain the generator - we would have liked up dates even when there was not news to report. On the other hand, they were quick to return any calls and to answer our questions. Once the generator was obtained, things went very smoothly and quickly. The installation was first rate, both the inside and outside work, and the office kept us apprised as county inspections were set up.
Overall, very good work, competent crews, and a very good price. I would most certainly use their services again. They came recommended to us by friends who had used them on both home and business projects - our experience was as good as theirs and we are pleased to recommend them.

Our experience with JBI has been refreshing! Ian has been very responsive in preparing the initial estimates and surprised me with an early delivery of the 17KW unit. His crew was efficient and professional at all times. Both my wife and I are pleased and now will not dread the power outages that have affected our area over the past several years. Looking at projected weather reports of the possibility of severe storms still is bothersome, but not in the same way as in the past. We will have no problem recommending JBI to anyone who is interested in finding a great and fair dealer.
