I requested an estimate and they quickly responded to my request. I described the tree to remove and they visited my house and left the estimate. I did not have to be home to meet with them which saved me vacation time. When I signed the estimate, they let me know when their crew could complete the work. I did not have to be home to pay their crew, which is very convenient. They were done in 30 minutes and cleaned up the area. The tree was down within 5 days of me contacting them. I will hire Ed's Tree Service again

Initially I was discouraged I didn't hear from them for a few days . The company guy showed up a few days later (Friday), gave me a price I agreed upon and agreed to remove the fallen tree on Monday. On Monday the company did call to cancel due to heavy rains. I happen to look out my window one morning and the tree was gone. I did call them to offer payment.

They arrived on time and did a great job.

Ed's Tree Service is probably the most professional set of contractors I have ever worked with. I have not had any tree work done since I moved in ten years ago. Needless to say, my backyard was completely overgrown. To make matters more difficult, the job was located at a duplex on a busy street in the middle of NE DC, with no driveway. Ed's showed up with a crew of 5 to trim back three large Elm trees in my backyard and remove all of the vines (poison ivy!) growing on them. In addition, they removed five invasive Mulberry trees, drilled the stumps, and trimmed back a fourth tree on the side of my house. They came in from both my yard as well as the neighbors on either side, in order to get branches hanging over the fence. It looks like I have a brand new yard. Unlike virtually every other contractor I have worked with, Eds secured permission from my neighbors to use their double driveway to park their trucks. They were on time, courteous, and extremely professional. I will definitely use them again in the future. Highly recommend.

Very well. One of the companies that bid on the job said the stump would fall back into the hole. Unfortunately, it did not, so I am left with a rather unattractive area in the back yard and should have asked Ed's to cut the stump lower, since it was not going to make a seat as I had anticipated. Not their fault, however. They did a very good job, lowered heavy branches without denting the fence, and cleaned up well afterward.

I needed to arrange for tree removal at my elderly parents' home. When I first spoke with Kathy at Ed's Tree Service, she was quite knowledgeable and made arrangements for the estimate. As promised, the company went out to the property and left a written estimate in the mail box. I did also get two other quotes from other companies - listed on Angie's list. We decided to go with Ed's not only because they were the lowest quote, but also because I believed they would do the job properly. Before the work was done, I contacted Kathy about adding stump grinding for one of the trees. Kathy promised to check on the price, and she very quickly called me back. The crew showed up on time and the tree removal and clean up went very well. They did a great job. My 93 year old father is quite happy with the work and said he would use the company again. Thanks to Ed's and especially Kathy for making this a truly 'painless' experience.

It went very well. They were very prompt. They are very good at what they do. They came ahead of time from the scheduled work.

After the gust of 60-70mph wind a couple of weeks ago and seeing the oak tree next to the house bending almost 45 degree each way, we decided it was too close to the house and needed to come down. It was less than 75 inches in diameter but slim and tall. We also had several dead limbs hanging over our house, yard, deck and neighbor's yard that we wanted to get down. I called 4 tree service companies to get an estimate for the job. We had used one company two years ago but we felt they were a bit expensive so we did not call them. The first one had many A ratings on Angie's List and he came on time but as soon as he got there he seems like he was in a hurry or late for another appointment. I guess he had a lot of clients because of the storm so maybe he wasn't that interested in my small job even though I told him I was not in a hurry to get the job done. We showed the tree we wanted removed and some of the trees with dead limb we wanted taken down and he said that he was going to cut to the chase and will do the job for $5,000, a job he would normally charge $6500. No detail proposal just threw out a number. My husband told me we would not take up anymore of our time and would go with someone else. Very disappointing don't know why all the A ratings on Angie's List if that is his attitude toward his potential clients. The second company was Ed's Tree Service. We had used Ed's Tree Service a few times twice at our old house and once at current house. Alice has always been very friendly and straight forward. She even pointed out things that we missed and suggested that we should take them down as a precaution. We also asked her to take the large limbs that we had in the backyard that had came down in other storms. She went to her car, wrote everything up and printed out the proposal. My husband was so impressed with her that we cancelled the other two estimates and accepted Alice's proposal. Also she was able to start the next week. We postponed the work one day because of the freak snow storm that pushed everything back. The day of the job, the men came on time with the detail proposal and worked for several hours. They cut the tree down very low to the ground and removed all the dead limbs and suckers as well as the limbs in our backyard that had fallen down from other storms. They cleaned up all the sawdust and debris and left the work areas cleaned and tidy. We are very pleased with the work and the cost. I like the fact that it is own and managed by a woman. Definitely would hire them again and the 10% Angie's List discount sure helped.

Everything was done well and efficiently. Cost was around $1100-1200 if my memory is serving me well. Quote was cheapest of three we got, and Ed's was more impressive when presenting the estimate than the next cheapest. Most expensive was also the most impressive in prsentation of estimate, but the cost was $600 to $700 more.

I have never had such expert service from a tree company ever! Prompt. Courteous. Professional. The supervisor checked many times to see if the work was done to my satisfaction. Mats were laid down so the new grass was not destroyed. There were several workers carrying the limbs to be ground while others were raking to stay on top of the job. I highly recommend this company.

I have had excellent dealings with them. They are very knowledgeable. They put off trimming a couple of holly trees that are very large and giving nutrition to water them, it almost 100 and 90-degree temperatures consistently for a while. They cautioned me about doing any pruning or nutrition until we get into the Fall. I just thought that was excellent for them to give me that kind of advice and I told the owner that they wouldn't have had such a good rating on Angie's List if they weren't being professional and giving people the proper information. If they cut the trees or tried to give nutrition to one of those trees and it was so hot that it could have killed the tree. Ed's Tree Service was excellent.

They were very professional and punctual. The crew was great and clearly knew what they were doing. The work was completed in one day as we agreed. From the time of the quote to the completion of the work I felt they were responsive, professional and did a great and thorough job. I would use them again.
