Unlike a couple of other business coordinators from competitors, Tar Heel Construction's coordinator, Brain, was not only courteous and approachable, but also patient and empathetic. He did not try to rush into pressured business dealings but, instead, spent quality time listening attentively to our needs and thoroughly inspecting our roof, before engaging us in a more informative discussion about our project. Brian was careful to solicit answers to questions that aligned with our goals, so that he could show and explain relevant options for us to choose from. His knowledge of our roofing problems, along with his unexaggerated estimates and forthrightness gained our trust and we decided to choose him and Tar Heel Construction for the first phase of our project, which was to repair our roof's "dead valley" area. Then, not long after signing the contract to repair the "dead valley," and just before the date scheduled to begin that work, we left Brian a message on a Saturday to report that rain had come in the house from the "dead valley" area of the roof. Brian contacted us immediately, even though he was at a soccer game with his son, and told us he would send a crew to our house within 24 hours! That extraordinary level of care persuaded us to not postpone getting the shingle part of the project done and we called Brian back to have him send us a new contract to include completing the work for both the "dead valley" and replacing the shingles on the entire roof. Within three days of signing the new contract, Brian sent two teams out to begin the work and we had a new complete roof, just before more rain! I am super excited about our new roof. A quality roof that my husband and I won't have to worry about for the next 20+ years. Tar Heel made a lasting impression at the first meeting. They were professional and knowledgeable about their product. They were the only contractor to pull out a ladder and go up on my roof to see what was actually going on and shared with us that we had storm damage. The only one!!! Everyone were awesome to work with. Scott (initial contact), Brian Bentz (project mgr), and Jamie (job foreman) - they were all great. We had the most contact with Brian and he keep us in the loop through the entire process as well doing the leg work (follow ups) to the insurance adjuster and the HOA with regards to approvals. Very Quick service

After talking with a few companies, I finally spoke with Joe Ayler of Tar Heel Construction Group LLC. Joe was very professional and answered all my questions, but most importantly, I could tell that he cared. It is hard to find businesses that care about the customer and take pride in the work they do, but Tar Heel does, and they make sure that you are happy with the work. They came out and replaced my roof and the Project Manager, Jaime, and his crew were very professional, courteous and they took pride in their work as well. Afterwards, they cleaned up everything and there was no trace of nails or anything. If you are going to get a new roof or repairs, I highly recommend Tar Heel. I will also be using them for my siding and windows in the near future.

I interview three roofing companies and one that cost a lot more but did the same type of roofing told me to go with Tar Heel ! The workmanship is top notch and they finished the job in one day, removing the old shingles and tar paper, replacing any roofing plywood that was damaged, and laying the tiger paw that is so much better than tar paper, and laying the new roofing materials in one day. They cleaned up as they went and came back the next day to go over the ground and gardens to make sure.

Great communication and got our roof replaced for half what another company quoted us. Helped us get an exhaust fan vented outside and helped increase ventilation by correcting insulation. No oversell or pressure to sign. Would definitely use again!

I got my roof and siding done from Tar Heel Construstion Group and they were done in 3 days. They have very good customer service. They did a great job and I will definitely be using them again for future exterior projects.

They were certainly not the most expensive estimate nor were they the cheapest, but they put on a solid roof quickly, efficiently, and cleaned up afterwords. I’d there was one area for improvement is in my ability to get in touch with the folks at the front office when I had a question, but that can just be the timing of my schedule vs theirs.

They were really helpful in walking me through this process and answered any questions or concerns I had. This was my first major home repair and it went really smoothly. Work was completed in a timely fashion and looks great.

Very professional both in the bid process and the installation. Not high pressure like a lot of other roofing companies were. Crew arrived on time, worked hard all day, and completed the job to our satisfaction. Highly recommend TarHeel Construction for any roofing needs.

We had Tar Heel install new insulated siding, gutters, soffits, fasica board, garage trim vinyl wrap and a step off of the rear deck. It was a pleasure to work with Tar Heel. The overall consultation and estimate appointments were thorough. When discussing the project with Joe, you can tell they had a lot of experience in this work and knew what made for a good finish/quality. We felt at ease discussing the project with Joe and the relationship between us was great. There was no issues communicating via email or phone. When the job was started, he kept in regular touch with us. His team was also very professional and did a great job. The pricing was good and quite comparable to the other contractor. We have already recommended Tar Heel to several of our neighbors who are looking at getting similar work completed. We would definitely use Tar Heel again.

The owner, Joe Ayler, was very professional and straightforward. Besides this, he uses his own team of professional installers and does not subcontract out like the other big companies do. This way he controls the quality of work. I was absolutely amazed to see one of the foremen on my roof the day after the install. He was redoing something that he did not like. I asked if everything was all right. He said yes, he was doing a follow up inspection of the work and he did not like something. It was only an aesthetic issue but it didn’t meet their standard. It was something that I would have never noticed. I have never had anyone take that much care and pride in their work as Tar Heel construction did. Most companies are “once done, they are gone”. Then you have to fight for anything that needs to be fixed later. Furthermore, I was recently involved in an accident and Joe work our schedule around my requirements. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

Joe was very knowledgeable and his team was very professional and friendly. Joe explained the entire process and answered all our questions. He oversaw the entire project from start to finish. The Tar Heel crew arrived on time, completed the work on schedule and were very diligent in their work and clean up. Tar Heel is an excellent company to work with and we will not hesitate to use them in the future. I have already had several inquiries from my neighbors and I recommended they consider using them for their projects.

Joe and his team were great to work with from the start. I would not hesitate to hire them again. It speaks to Joe's honesty and integrity that the insurance estimate for the roof replacement was $15,000 but his charge for the project came in under $13,000. In other words, he wasn't up-charging just because insurance was paying for it. In my experience, if you find a tradesman who is honest and who does great work, you stick with them. I was also impressed at the amount of time they spent cleaning around the house after the roof was done. They literally spent 3 hours the following morning cleaning around the house to make sure there were no nails left behind. I call that great customer service!

Tar Heel was an excellent company to work with. Joe did a wonderful job explaining the process and answered all of our questions. The install went flawlessly and the yard was spotless upon the completion of the work. We will use Tar Heel for future projects.

TAR HEEL did an outstanding job of replacing my roof and installing the Ridge Vent that should have been put in by the original builder. On top of that Joe, the owner, personally studied the air flow that the atic required and made sure the entire roofing and ventilation system was working using his Infrared thermography (IRT) expertise. He showed me all his credentialing and Maryland License up front without having to be asked. He sent an experienced crew and the crew did an outstanding job using professional techniques and high quality products. The seeps went away and we now enjoy comfort and security knowing we have a 50 year guarantee on materials and 5 year on workmanship guarantee. The job was completed in two days to include clean up and Joe showed my pictures of the work as it was progressing and me and my wife observed the job from start to finish and we have experience with contractors over decades and this one was the among the best. Their workmanship far surpassed what the builder had done in every way and even a casual observer can see that if they take even a casual look at our home. I can't say enough good things about this contractor. Their price was in the lower mid-rangy can tell you that it was worth every penny especially when you consider that follow up check-ups over years is included.
