Had hernia surgery on September 6 2012. I don't think Dr. Steinmentz has a very good bed side manner. He gave me a hard time when I was asking him questions right before the surgery. My wife was really surprised by his attitude, especially since he was about to cut into me. He also didn't warn me that with a hernia surgery there can be chronic pain, which I have. He didn't really warn me about any of the possible complications. After I told him i was still having pain, he just referred me to a pain specialist.

Entered the emergency room at 4am with significant pain. Tests determined it was severe blockage of bile ducts in the gallbladder, with significant gallstones and high amounts of "sludge" in the gallbladder. Dr. Fraiji performed the procedure by 10:00am and I was in the recovery room by 2pm. He continued to monitor my care throughout my stay (2 nights) as well as a subsequent stay for complications arising from the surgery with my gastrointestinal system. The follow-up appointment, 2 weeks later, was handled promptly by the office. He removed the steri-strips, filled out return-to-work paperwork and addressed lingering concerns regarding the gastrointestinal issues by offering a referral to a local colleague, as he was unable to speculate beyond his scope of practice (general surgery). Overall, the experience with Dr. Fraiji was excellent.

Overall I had a good experience with Dr. Fraiji's office - Harford Surgical and the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. The entire surgical staff seemed very competent and professional.

I just had a good experience with Upper Chesapeake Medical Center when I was in the hospital. They were really good. Dr. Steinmetz is the surgeon that took care of me and he's excellent. He does orthopedic and he's a general surgeon. I've only had this one experience with him and it was due to me going to the emergency room. It's not that I have an ongoing relationship with him, but he was excellent as far as the surgery that he performed. He's from Upper Chesapeake. His bedside manner is very personable. He's very thorough. He has real concern for his patients. He was in everyday to see me in the hospital unlike some of the other doctor's offices. He's very professional. I can't say enough good things about him and he's amazing. He's available for any type of general surgeries. I had my gall bladder removed. Overall, he's excellent. His availability is excellent as he was always there when I had issues in the hospital. When the nurses contacted him, he used to get back to them right away. What really impressed me is his concern for his patients. I would be going in for a follow up visit on Friday, the 8th of July. When I was referred to Upper Chesapeake, a lot of people told me that they would go down town for any major surgeries. The experience was just amazing. I had no problems. I haven't been to his office yet, but my husband said that it's a very nice office as he had to take some paper work to Dr. Steinmetz today. He's right on time. He said that he would be there at 12'O clock last time and he was right there. His staff is very personable and very easy to deal with. This is my husband's comment about them. Also when I've talked to them over the phone, I've had the same experience with his staff. He's a kind of doctor who is very serious about his work and yet he still makes his patients laugh. He's got that type of bedside manner. He tries to take ones mind off of things. I remember when I was getting ready to go into surgery, he came over and put his hand on me just to calm me down and let me know everything was going to be okay. He communicates very well. He's a very smart man. The effectiveness of treatment is good as I'm mending very well. He did a good job on what he did. I don't know how the billing and administration is because I haven't received any billing from them yet. I would definitely use him again in the future.
