Bel Air Athletic Club

Our case with this vendor, The Bel Air Athletic Club (a Wellbridge property), is not unique; however, unlike most that voted with their feet and left the Bel Air athletic club, with over 20 years invested in the club, we made all best efforts possible to remedy the problems within their Children's Program and specifically with Bel Air Athletic Club's Children's Program Director Cheryl Spath. Specifically, we complained to the Bel Air athletic club that they, with full knowledge and awareness, allowed a known child abuser and her family to harass and possibly endanger our child. Supporting our claim are first-hand witness reports, as well as hard-copy and electronic records with the Maryland Department of Child Protective Services and local law enforcement agencies regarding incidents occurring in the Children's Area of the Bel Air athletic club involving the parent and child connected to our complaint of abuse. Amongst the membership, Bel Air Athletic Club's Children's Program Director Cheryl Spath has been likened to the tail that wags the dog. When we presented our concerns, Bel Air Athletic Club's Children's Program Director Cheryl Spath was so emboldened as to dare us to leave; then threaten our daughter's removal from the dance program as well as having our family's club membership of 24 years cancelled if we continued to "have a problem" with her ( Cheryl Spath's ) department. We have found and continue to find not only a continued pattern of unwillingness, but even refusal, to resolve problems, choosing instead to placate, deny, and/or demonize those who bring forth concerns. It should be noted that an internationally recognized dance instructor and Maryland State certified teacher has chosen to discontinue her involvement with the club's children's dance program, choosing instead to open another dance academy in the same market. It is telling that while, as of this writing, Cheryl Spath and the Bel Air Athletic Club advertised dance instructor vacancies, this new dance academy in its first two months enjoyed a full staff and an immediate robust following of students and supporters, many of whom are former Bel Air Athletic Club dancers. The Wellbridge Company's mismanagement of these and related concerns is hurtful to the community, harmful to children; it is clearly neither right nor good business practice.

The entire spa section staff is extremely pleasant and very open to tailoring your visit to your needs. The massage was professional and effective for the area I'd asked to be worked on. The conversation was pleasant and not forced or too much. the room was small but comfortable.

Great neighborhood health club, but can be improved with some minor tweaking.
