The Olive Group LLC

During our first two-hour meeting, the owner of the Olive Group lowered our tension level and gave my wife and I a feeling that the renovation project was manageable.  He is talented with figuring out how to get good results on budget.  Throughout the project, he was unfailingly polite to my wife and I, and he always took as much time as was needed to restore our comfort level with one aspect or another of this complex renovation.  His workers and subcontractors do careful work.  I strongly recommend that anyone doing a major renovation walk through the job site every few days.  If you are lucky enough to be working with a general contractor like the Olive Group, they will promptly correct any minor mistakes you find at their own cost.  I feel that all the new elements in the house have a harmoneous appearance, which is largely due to my wife's talent in selecting coordinated materials, but it is also due to the Olive Group giving us good suggestions on material selection and good suggesions about where we needed to spend extra for quality that mattered.  My wife and I have never done a renovation as serious as this before, so we needed this help.  The Olive Group was also extremely fair about pricing "change orders" when our original plan of renovations had to be changed to address discoveries that we made about our 50-year-old house in the middle of the project.  When I compare my experience with the Olive Group to other contractors I've hired over the years (or my colleagues' horror stories about contractors), I am very thankful that I heard about the Olive Group in time to hire them to manage our major renovation.  This is my first ever Angie's List review, but I needed to spread the word about the Olive Group to my neighbors.  The Olive Group is based in Baltimore but they were perfectly happy to work at our home in Prince George's county.  I don't think they take on projects in the District of Columbia, though.
