Romano Carpentry

I found Romano Carpentry through Home Advisory. Nick came out for an estimate that same week and gave me a written estimate by the end of that week. The estimate was on par with what I was expecting the work to cost. Scheduling isn't his strong suit, but if you bear with him, he delivers good work. I had them out for replacing the basement door and exterior hatch (Wizard of Oz hatch like Dorothy had). It's well installed and secure. The basement door is weather sealed. I recommend using Romano Carpentry and I'd use them again.

I bought a 90 yr old house last Fall and recently realized that the wood was rotting out on two windows at the back of the house, exposed to wind and rain. I solicited contact from handyman and remodeling companies and Nike Romano responded right away. He came out within a day or two to look at the work, which I really appreciated. Nick is very knowledgable and professional. He inspired confidence, and I could tell he'd be someone I could work with. So, I asked him for a quote on several pieces of work; he understood I'd be doing things in phases. To my relief, he sent Mike, a very diligent and meticulous carpenter, to fix the windows and the soffit above them and I was able to observe everything that was being done. Mike did a great job but there was more rotten wood than expected, and the original construction wasn't the best workmanship to begin with. Mike had to innovate and make an extra effort to get things to go together right. Since it was taking longer than expected, Nick even came over to help finish up. It was a really hot day but they never complained. They did a very professional job and the windows and soffit are now sealed tight against the wind and rain. I voluntarily paid a little extra because I know there was more labor involved than Nick expected when he quoted the job. He didn't ask me to, though; I just volunteered it because I really value their work and want them to come back for more projects.

In early spring I got proposals from three HomeAdvisor recommended companies to do exterior work on my home. Nick Romano's proposal was comprehensive and his price was the best by a considerable margin. Actually, his price was so attractive, I was a little concerned. Their work, however, turned out to be everything I could ask. They were happy to answer my questions, finished quickly, cleaned up after themselves and ,almost two months later, I still stop to admire the quality of their work.

In moving my washer from the basement to the second floor, he looked at the job before agreeing to accept it. He came the next day, a Saturday, to do the job and discovered he could not do it alone. We rescheduled for Monday at 4:30 p.m. He was a no-show; he called at 6:00 p.m to explain why he did not come. He said he wanted to finish the job he was currently working on. We rescheduled for Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. He came with another worker on Tuesday... They did not cover the appliance with wraps, only strapped it into a dolly. The next day I did some laundry and noticed the top edge was scratched/scraped, from the top right edge to the middle. Also, the acrylic front of the front-load door was scraped and the paint from the doorway was visible on it. Paint from the sides of the doorway were scraped off. I was very disappointed to find this.
