These guys replaced windows at both my house and at one of my rental properties. They did a good job at my house (it was a fairly difficult job), but they failed to install the historic "lambs ears" on the windows as agreed. They only J stalled them on three windows. They said they would come back to finish up but never did. I also hired them to install windows at one of my historic properties in Mt. Vernon. There were a lot of windows to install. They decided to install a different brand than they did at my house which cost just as much, but apparently they just switched manufacturers. They assured me that this new brand was of comparable quality. They also promised that they would finish the uncompleted job at my own home. They did most of the work, but they never finished. See the pattern here? The windows were installed and looked just fine, but they missed caulking in many places (they did they ran out of green caulk) but I couldn't get them to return and finish the caulking no matter how hard I tried. I told them I wasn't paying the final draw until they came back, yet they still never came. I ended up having to have someone else finish the caulking after rain came through the uncaulked seams and caused damage in four of the eight apartments. These guys are A-OK with 90%. Too bad I'm not. To top it off, several of the crappy windows they installed in the rear (non-historic) have had their sash kits fail within the first year, and... you guessed it... Revolution failed to honor the warranty or even call me back. I had to track down the parts and have someone else fix them. And I still am missing the "lambs ears" on my home windows... Lesson learned.
Response from Revolution Building Supply
"With all due respect, the recollection of this customer is inaccurate. This job was in 2011. It was the customers decision to use different manufacturer on front due to their warrantied exterior paint finish. The signed contract clearly stated manufacturer and the specifications of product provided. The rear windows were selected by customer based on price, as budget did not permit more expensive/superior quality product. Some caulking could not be done when we finished install due to missing brick (which had fallen prior from the earthquake.) Monies were owed per the terms of the contract. Customer was delinquent. We told him we would return once his account was brought up to date per the contract."

The young lady we worked with, Amanda, was extremely helpful and both the gentlemen who came out to do the estimate and the young man who was sent to do the actual repair and installation were personable, polite and professional. I would definitely use this company again.

Great! Good quality windows, good quality installation. Good customer service in sales and collecting departments. Would use again and again for all future window installations. The B for professionalism is because I thought it odd that only one person was sent to install the windows alone, I was expecting at least two people, however he did a great job and was capable of doing the work alone.

The sales and admin folks were excellent. The installers were good too, although they're not highly focused craftsmen, so they struggled a bit to get the new units matched up nicely with the existing woodwork/trim inside the house. So if you have detailed woodwork around your windows, you might want to consider a different group or have a longer conversation with the salesperson (who's actually the owner of the company, if I remember) about what they can and can't do.

I had a special order. The process was efficient, good communication. The installer was especially helpful. He was not 100% satisfied with the way the installation looked, recommended I consider a different trim product, came back the next day and added a different trim free of charge. Excellent customer service.

I had replaced all other windows of my end of group rowhouse with the usual vinyl replacements, but I wanted the large front window to be true to the original (it was in such bad shape it could not be repaired). The team at Revolution are in the neighborhood and knew exactly what they were doing. The window is beautiful and was installed professionally, on time, and within budget.

We needed a door handle/lockset for an old (8 year old) door. We had to replace the existing handle with the same or similar because it's on an exterior door in a condo building, where all the door handles have to be the same. I was afraid I wouldn't even be able to find the part but the tremendous technician at Revolution was able to locate the part in the manufacturer's parts catalog with no problem. She ensured that it was exactly the replacement part we needed. The part came in 3 days later, Revolution called to schedule an installation appointment, they installed the part 2 days later and the whole thing cost less than $150, much less than I expected. The new door handle looks great, works great and it was such a pleasure working with such a no hassle company. I highly recommend them for this type of work.

We had 45 windows replaced when we bought out house in '08, revolution quoted a much better price than anyone else and knocked out the installation in 3 days. The cleanup could have been a bit more thorough, but overall we were happy. fast forward 5 years, one window came off the track, and they had someone out the next day to fix it. I recommended them to a few friends, and they've all had similar good experiences.

Revolution was on time for the estimate and the measurement, built the window to spec, came back (again on schedule) and installed the window beautifully. It wasn't the cheapest, but I didn't choose just on price. It had to be a quality job from a company that knows the area and appreciates the nature of an older rowhouse. Great job.

Product is good, especially in a historic area where guidelines for performing work muct be performed. I did feel that careful moving of the window product brought with him as a sample was done with sensitivity. He dragged the sample window a bit across woodfloors. No damage was done, I just felt that the salesman should have known better.

Brandon was very responsive to my emails and was the cheapest estimate I got. The contractors arrived on-time and did very thorough work. They really took their time to make sure everything was done right and that it fit properly. The finished product looks great. I would definitely use them again.

It was custom manufactured due to its size so it took several weeks after the order to get the window. The work was beautiful and accurately made to look like an original, as I want to keep as close to the original look of the 1920's house as possible. The installation was done on time and very well, with everything cleaned up after. The window looks and operates completely satisfactorily. My sister with a similar home a few blocks away plans to use them for her own window. I would use them again without hesitation.

We replaced all of the windows for energy efficiency; the previous owners lived in Florida during the winter so a freezing cold house wasn't an issue for them. All of the patio doors were nonstandard sizes, about 3/4" too tall and a bit too wide. Revolution saved us a bundle (>50%) by ordering standard size doors and framing up the small difference. Also, instead of purchasing standard side panels (4'), they installed 4' picture windows in their place, which greatly reduced the cost of install. The installers were punctual and friendly. They did a wonderful job.

Revolution was professional from start to finish; from the ETA of the product to the installation date. If I had a question, someone was available to answer the question. We had trouble with the front door knob and the installers were back the next door to take a look at it and fix it. I love my windows and doors. I highly recommend Revolution.

We purchased an 85 year old house in a CHAP neighborhood and discovered that we needed to get wooden double-hung windows. After receiving some much higher quotes, we went with Revolution Building Supply based on price and Angie's List feedback. Dave and his colleague Ryan assessed the house and provided a quote within a week and then obtained CHAP approvals for us. The approvals process took about 6 weeks and they returned to re-measure and ensure we were comfortable with the items they suggested. To conserve costs, we asked that the casement windows be refurbished rather than replaced, to which they agreed. The job was done on time but the attempt to renovate the casement windows was sub-par. The owner acknowledged this and provided a substantial discount in replacement windows. The custom windows were done well. The company even provided some extra screens for the casement windows after some damage moving furniture (us, not them).

Brandon was early for the estimate appt. and the quote was accurate with no surprises. The install crew was fast and did quality work. Another unit replaced windows and it took their contractor two days to do what Revolution did in a few hours. The Milgard product is top notch. I highly recommend. We have tons of street noise and their laminated glass product cut down on noise in a huge way. I highly recommend them!

Overall we are pleased with the results and give kudos to the contractor for working with us through all the issues. Our definition of quality probably exceeds what would make most people happy. Project began with an overly ambitious schedule for completion. Instead of 3-4 days it took 5-6 weeks (ok by us), including down time (waiting for custom doors to be ordered because std. ones originally ordered didn't fit right, XMAS, weekend-only work, etc.). Work was more complex than they expected due to the age of our residence, and the switch from double-hung to casements, requiring carpentry work atypical for this kind of job. Carpentry was well done. Also, it appeared contractors hadn't installed these particular windows before so there was a learning curve, and the manufacturer's window design created installation challenges. Some of their original measurements were wrong, creating installation challenges down the line (e.g. required change from frame-in to frame-out).

Overall experience was excellent. Brandon, the owner of the company was very thorough in explaining the process, showed me several samples of windows and quoted a very reasonable price. Installers were on time and did a great job of installing the windows and cleaning up after themselves.

On time and professional in every respect. Helpful suggestions and even assisted in obtaining historic area approval. Would use again in an instant!
