Oakenshawe 1021

Oakenshawe specializes in furniture from the mid-twentieth century. The chest of drawers had been reduced to half price. On a Saturday we paid for if with a credit card and the owner said that he would deliver it the following week and that he would call the following Monday. When we hadn't heard by Wednesday, my husband called and left a message. We got a call a day or so later. The owner said that after we left, someone came in and offered to pay the original price for the dresser. Then he said that he would deliver it the following Monday afternoon. Nothing happened that Monday. No delivery, no phone call. My husband called the store and his cell phone and left messages. He called again the following day and talked to someone else in the store who said that the owner would call to reschedule. The owner finally called and said that the chest of drawers had accidentally been sold to someone else. He offered to refinish another chest of drawers for us. However, this is not a regular furniture store. It isn't like the same chest of drawers is in stock. We wanted that one, not some other one. Plus at this point I see no reason to trust the owner. We have asked to have the amount we paid credited to our charge account. At this time we don't know if that has happened or not.
