The installation of new gutters and guards went well but recently one of the gutters has gotten clogged and a waterfall from that spot has damaged a set of wooden steps beneath it on my almost 100 year old gingerbread Victorian house.  Given that my contract specified a no-clog guarantee, I contacted Hometown Repair and Remodel in the beginning of June 2015 only to be told on the 28th that they would not honor the guarantee because they assert that the gentleman who we met at the MD Home and Garden Show in Timonium in the Spring of 2013 in a booth that represented the company did not work for the company at the time that our gutters and guards were installed.  I contacted the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) and am in the process of filing a complaint against the company per the instructions of MHIC and thought that all should be wary of working with this company.
Even though they acknowledge that the signed contract is on their company documentation, they will not honor the guarantee to come to my home and unclog my gutters.  Per Mr. Walderon's email dated 7/12/2015, "The checks were clearly written out to Hometown Repair & Remodel and consistent with the agreement that you provided.  The signor of the agreement, Mr. Marshalek misrepresented himself as his authority to represent myself or my company was terminated in 2012."  The MHIC says that the dispute between this company and Mr. Marshalek should not impact on my issue, hence, their recommendation that I file.

After learning of our dissatisfaction with our first meeting, including the review we gave them here on Angie's List, Bob Waldron, the Pesident of the company contacted us and wanted to talk. He wanted to know the details and what he could do to make it right. We explained everything and he agreed, that it was no way to treat a customer and asked for a chance to redeem himself. We went back over what it was we were looking for and the price range we were willing to pay. After going over everything, we deceided to give them another chance but without working with the first salesman we met. They had someone come to the house two days after our meeting to measure our windows and go over the siding repairs we needed. In about two weeks our windows came in and the repairs started. Mr. Waldron even came out while the work was being preformed to make sure things were going well. Our windows look amazing and no one would ever guess where the siding was replaced. I'm thankful to mr. Waldron and Angie's List, for making this a much better experience. We definitely will use this company again, we actually will contact them to do our kitchen remodel and some painting. I'm grateful to Mr. Waldron for contacting us to make this right. In a world of automated voices, it's nice to know human contact is still alive and well.
